   Does God truly want you to fear Him?
   
   I hear all of the time. "He/she is a God fearing soul.", but we should love thy neighbor, and praise God. Do you think that God really wants you to fear Him?

   Fear Him because God can kill the soul if you don't obey his commandments and love Him because he created us and the Heavenly father alone can give everlasting life.

   No. This is what we called referential'fear' or to hallow His Name. Not fear as in trembling and uneasiness. God is love,a and perfect love casts out fear.

   He does but it is not a fear as the world interprets it. As a child "fears" (submits to the authority of) his parent, we should approach God the same way. It is an understanding that He is the authority and has our best interests at heart. It is a reverential respect and love, not being scared but  acknowledging Him as being in control. It is faith, not fear; love not punishment; everlasting life not death. That creates great respect and "fear" of losing these things we have been freely given through God's grace.

   The fear that is referred to is called Holy Fear. It is not the same fear that you have when you watch a scary movie or walk down a dark alley at night. It is called Holy Fear because it is an intense and dreaded feeling of never wanting to be separated from God or disappoint Him in sin. The feeling becomes more pronounced as a person becomes closer and closer to God.

      You're right, we should fear being separated from God.
      
      But, if He forgives us for all of our sins if we believe, what should we fear?

   This is not true that Almighty God causes fear.I am in the opinion that god is god when he is easily reachable .Everyone comes to god without any kind of fearfulness.He is all powerful ,and at the same time he is one who is ready to accept anybody and everybody at any time at any situation because he is over-anger .He haaas no anxiety,he has no anger ,he has no any kind of human fault .He is the ocean of solution.I know not whether God is there or not ,if he is alive he must be like these.

      I agree, but one can only come to God with complete and utter humility. Ego is a cog in the machine of this world and the source of evil. Humility is the antidote to ego.

      God is God when He does not want you to fear Him rather He want you to fear from having been done unjust and wrong which in religion called 'sin'.Humility comes when he is full of humanity@lone77star.no mundane problem is unanswerable to Him@FF34

   Not fear in the traditional, human sense.
   
   But "fear" is likely the closest word in our languages to what is needed.
   
   Other words that fit: awe, reverence, respect, love, obedience, subservience, humility and likely a few others.
   
   We need to honor God. Think about it. He owns this universe. And have you really looked at how big this place is?
   
   God loves His children. They were made in His image and likeness. But remember this: He is not Homo sapiens.

      He does love all of His children, so they why do some people prevent their children from knowing Him?
      
      I do like "awe", "respect", "love", "obedience", "subservience"!
      
      We do need to be reminded He's not an equal but much greater than thou!

   God says the beginning of knowledge is fear...and fear is reverence who He is not to fear like man fears things. That's not the fear God is talking about when He says fear..

   Although Hyphenbird has said it already (thanks, Hyphenbird!), the type of "fear" we're to have for God is more akin to "respect" than it is to "be afraid." It is a loving type of fear that, when we have it for God, we will obey and want to do His will; not ours, because we believe His is best for our lives. He has "infinite" wisdom, and ours can only ever be "finite." But we sometimes go against the authority of God, even when we fear him. It's like when a little child, out of curiosity, wants to touch a hot stove burner, and his/her mother says, "No, don't do that, it will burn you." The child has to have respectful fear of the mother and her words in order to heed the admonition. If the child doesn't heed the warning and wisdom of the parent, then he/she will go ahead and touch the hot burner, out of curiosity, and will be burned as a result of touching it.

    The fear of God is the beginning of all wisdom. A person will sin because they don't God.They are not afraid of what God can do because of our sins against Him. To fear God is to depart from sin.
