If you comment on a lot of hubs then your commenter level can increase very quickly, however if you don't keep up with it then it will go back down.

For example, you can comment on twenty-odd hubs one day and increase your level but if you don't comment at all for the next month then it will just go back down.

Hope this helped, good luck getting a high level.

I have increased my  comment level by commenting on many questions and the more you comment the higher it will be simple as that

This is true but, It slos seems to me that the higher the commenter level the slower it goes up to the next level.

Yes this is right bankscottage, it is extremely easy to get to level I, but after that it gets harder. You might only have to make 20 comments for level I but that doesn't mean 40 for level II...

bankscottage, I get the same sense. It seemed my level increased quickly for the first few levels. Then after about level 4, it was a slower progression. But I can't say that I am always super active all the time.

Commenter level is just a measure of how many a person has commented upon. I have only seen it go up but never go down for anyone. May be I wasn't enough watchful enough so may be they go down but I know for sure that hubscore can go down pretty quickly.

Yes, it had happened to me as well. The commentator level increases when you comment on many hubs but if for a long time you don't comment on other hubs and questions, the level goes down. No worries, it should motivate you to once again comment actively!

Yeah, you have to comment consistently to reach and maintain a high rating.

Thanks for this great question. The answers seem to be complete. I had no idea of such things but I really like to read hubs and share at least some encouragment. And then I got some notices and it was cool. I was hoping there was more of a qualitative aspect, but I guess not.

Thats most likely due to your inactivity.  Pick up your commenting on hubs and I'll just bet when you read more hubs and leave good, valuable comments, your score will go up.

Accolades that deal with participation like "commenter" and "citizen" will go down if you do not maintain your activity.  But any commenting will keep it up. It will only go down if you are inactive for a long period of time.
Milestone accolades like "Hubs Published" or "Questions Answered" will not drop. These are simple awarded when you reach a set number.

Where do you find your commenter level? Thanks in advance smile

it's found in the banner on the top right of your comments, opposite your name - just as the author of the hub is listed as "Hub Author"  when you comment on someone else's hubs...

Ty Samsons1... I wasn't sure if there was "another" place that I was missing. Thanks for the fast response.....

I don't know. I would imagine if you stopped commenting it could remain where it is and not go up. I've not seen one go down.

Like other things in life. If you don't use it you will lose it. Just sayin.

Yes the commenter level is always on the move. This is one of those disappearing accolades, which can disappear over time from inactivity. Depending on your comment activity, the level moves both up and down. There are a total of eight different levels, with level eight being the most active. If you start leaving more and more comments on the hubs that you visit then the commenter level will increase. If over time, I hear it's 9 months, you slow down or even stop leaving comments then the commenter level will decrease or the accolade could even completely disappear from off of your profile page. The important thing is to just have some fun here while you are on the hub pages.  smile

As others have said, the commenter level can go down due to a period of inactivity.
The level does tend to rise if you increase your activity by commenting on more hubs. It will rise even further if you consistently leave thoughtful, detailed comments that add significant input to the topic of the hub.
To reach higher levels, it is also important to respond promptly to comments left on your own hubs.
    Hope the above helps.

Mine goes up and down depending on how many comments I make. It sometimes disappears from the accolades section, but then later it comes back whenever the level is changing. smile Keep commenting, and it should go up! smile

I just lost my commenter accolade level III--poof--it's gone! I have been commenting, but I did have to "unfollow" the Contest Review because my phone was binging so many times during the day, that I was missing my own phone calls and getting interrupted. Not sure if this was the reason, but I do go and wish everyone well. I think that we have to pace ourselves, so that we can get some writing done. Just a thought.--Deb
