Where can I find a decent source of royalty free images?
I have been searching for images to insert in a book that I'm currently writing but cannot find anything. I know of photo bucket but not sure if that license will cover my needs.
I use three sites:
http://morguefile.com/
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
http://www.rgbstock.com/
I can find pretty much anything I'm looking for. Just watch because a few images will not be able to be used for commercial purposes.
I was just about to ask a similar question. Are we allowed to use these images on Hub Pages?
Yes. You can also give proper attribution in the boxes provided to give the photographers or artists credit for their work.
I use Wikimedia quite often (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page) and Pixabay (http://pixabay.com/). For clip art I use Public Domain Clip Art (http://www.pdclipart.org/). Always check the licenses on a particular work before using it. I've seen some on Wikimedia and Pixabay that are not licensed for reuse.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia: … _resources has a great list of public domain image sites and in the past I've also used sxc.hu - with sxc.hu some of the photographers and artists don't even want credit or a link (check next to each photo you want to use, and also on the photographer or artist's sxc profile) but I think it's decent to always give credit anyway.
If you're not too bad with a camera you may also want to consider taking some of your own photos to use on HubPages or on your own sites - it's the easiest way to avoid all or any copyright issues or crediting issues related to using photographs from other sites.
If taking photographs yourself, and you can't come up with the subject needed for your web page or HubPages page, you can also always create an image with words - perhaps a question or thought-provoking statement (of your own) in one colour, on a background of another colour.
In addition to those listed, I often use Flickr. If you donate a few Pics of your own, you get access to lots of great photographers works.
They have their search criteria available by whether there are commercail royalties expected or just the mention of their name, or if they are free.
DON
I use this site often: http://www.publicdomainpictures.net/
Any place which host public domain pictures will work.
They will say what they expect for the usage, which may not be anything.
. My favorite place to get photos is istockphoto.com (no "s"). They have various license agreements there. I type my desired photo in the search box, then navigate down the left side and move the cost indicator to it's lowest point. Usually the images that come up then are about $2 for the smallest size, which I find totally useful. Be careful to use the image only once on a website. I love their search engine and you can always email them for clarification of the license. That website seems the very safest for me. I've used them for our website, hubpages, and for packaging of our products. That girl you always see at a computer with her hands up in elation is from istockphoto. I purchased a license use for that years ago, used it in packaging our software and now you see that particular photo all over. You can also buy a monthly license at clipart.com and download all you want for a month. Their license seems a bit more generous to me, but their selection, albeit wide, is not as current as istockphoto. There is a public domain clipart library at wpclipart.com which has cute drawings, some photos, etc. The site accepts donations. Why don't you list some types of pictures you need here. There are so many great personal photos that people might just let you use theirs. You can use any pictures of my little dog Scooter any day. Just email me. I have pictures of the ocean in Orange County as well. (Of course, I'm not a photographer.)
I use
http://www.morguefile.com/
http://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_domain
those are my favorite. Morgue File is my favorite because you can edit their pictures as your own. Hope theis helps & you have a wonderful day~
Don't use Photobucket. Most of the photos there have been stolen!
I've found success using Flickr. My Hub on using photos for HubPages may be relevant if you want to use a variety of images - however, if you're writing a book, it's likely you'll be able to find a single Flickr user who could supply all your images.
When I was writing my flamenco book, I emailed a Flickr user who had some great flamenco photos. I offered him a credit on the flyleaf and 10% of profits from the book (warning him that it likely wouldn't be more than a few dollars!). He not only gave permission to use his Flickr photos, he gave me access to a huge archive of gorgeous photos as well.
I like sxc.hu! They will list some paid ones on the top and bottom of your searches but I usually find something perfect for free. This is for stock photos, primarily.
I use the following site and found it quite useful:
http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/
You can check it out.
I primarily utilize www.dreamstime.com for photos, illustrations etc. for graphic design, marketing and some of my hubs. There are free and paid photos from every conceivable genres. The site is easy to navigate and downloading is simple. Good luck.
This is a good place to get creative commons images ----> http://freecreativecommonsphotos.com
You can use the photos for whatever you want as along as you link back to the site. None of the photos are watermarked and you don't have to sign up for anything to get the pictures.
There's a lot of smaller sites that offer unique, royalty free images. Creative Commons licensed sites are the best because you know for certain that what you're taking is actually free for you to use.

Just wondering, is it necessary to mention source link while using photos from search engines. And, if I do will it be beneficial for my hub or not?

I am new to hubpags and am wondering where you obtain legal images to post on your hub? Obviously if the photo's or artwork is yours you are ok, but what about images pertaining to fashion or even art from research.
