Why Only Few Hubbers aren't Shy to Comment on Others' Work?

I think most hubbers are really shy to comment on others' work. They like to read hubs (through the HubPages news~feed), but when it comes to leaving an insightful comment [which most can, if they try a bit], they are really shy.

Why is this trend? What is the point of joining this website, if are are afraid to pass a comment. This website is a goldmine of art and creativity. Why be so shy to take full advantage of this wonderful platform?

What are your thoughts on this shyness found in (most) hubbers? Can this be remedied? If yes, then please describe the process.

    Thank you.

Seriously, I don't think a writer will be shy to make or leave a comment on an article on hubpages.                                     Seriously too, one is not oblige to input comments although that is necessary.                                           I don't comment on every article, forum post, and thread that I read if they don't interested me, right?                                              You'll agree with me that this is applicable to other writters.

I think most of them are shy, shy to comment on others' hubs. They like to read, but when it comes to passing a comment, they lack courage. They think: Oh! the person may reject/disapprove my comment.

Hello, I will reject or disapproved a comment on my article if I found it spammy or negative to realities.                                       Why shy to comment? Is it because the subject is sexual intercourse? Or...one will make a blunder in grammar or sentence structure?                                  Okay, they may be some shy persons here. But a writer to be shy hardly cross my mind.

You raise some very interesting points. I hope and wish that other writers take inspiration from your attitude.

I don't think the readers are "shy". First of all, commenting has become very difficult on the niche sites. Additionally, while I try to comment on most of what I read, I won't leave a comment if the subject matter doesn't interest me or is poorly written. In both cases, I'm apt to leave the page before finishing the article.

I think the shy people will be new Hubbers and they may be thinking that they don't have good experience to comment on other's Hub and others may think bad if a newbie adds anything like criticizing their article. During my initial days in HubPages, I too was a bit reluctant smile. But I was open to appreciate others' works and ask queries in forums whenever needed. I got quick responses for whatever I've asked though there were some negative comments which I'm not taking personally. So, in my opinion, there's no need for such a bias against posting insightful comments under others' hubs. Most of the Hubbers are open to criticism and new ideas!

Tanmoy, I reply on almost every article, poem, story I read here. Unless it is so bad I just can’t say anything good. Then I may refrain.

There are a lot of people here who only write for the money and very rarely even read other people’s articles or leave comments. They interact only in the forums, if at all.

Some feel comments are unimportant and even hinder their articles in some way.

There are others who never respond to comments you leave. In which case I eventually stop commenting or even reading their articles. I feel comments are very important, especially to a creative writer.

I admit it is more difficult to comment here than it used to be but it is still possible, and be rectified soon.
Some may be a little shy, but I don’t think that is the main reason.

This forum thread has been an experiment! I'm new to the community, and I'm testing how people behave and interact with each other, on this website.

This website is truly a goldmine of art and creativity, and I'm thankful that I've found it.

Jodah has raised an important point. It's sometimes not possible to comment on a hub. If an article has already been moved off HubPages and onto Discover or a niche site when the reader sees it, there is no way to leave a comment unless the reader finds the article in their feed. The feed accepts comments; the Discover and niche sites don't at the moment. (It should be possible to comment on these sites once programming changes have been made within a few months.) I do find some articles that I'd like to comment on in my feed, but not all of them.

People generally need a reason to take an action. It would need to serve them or please them in some way for them to bother commenting. Also, the others are right, it is not possible to comment on most articles. And, online you may want to drop that "the world owes me something" attitude. It won't serve you. People do as they do, no matter what people think or say. The world is just that way.

No Tanmoy I don't think they are shy. Maybe the article is not of their interest. The community here is all very kind and helpful.
You are here since a week only. so, I think it will take time for your hubs and your profile to grow.

That is certainly true on YouTube, where creators are few, whereas consumers are many. On HubPages, however, each hubber is both a creator and a consumer. So the parameters are different.

No, they are not.  You have completely missed the point.  HubPages exists for writers who are looking for an internet wide audience, not an audience from HubPages.  If we only relied on the income we received from fellow HubPages members, we would all starve.

If you visit HubPages' official facebook page, it says, I quote:

"Discover. Create. Connect. Open up your world.

HubPages is an open community of passionate people - writers, explorers, knowledge-seekers, conversation starters. Interacting and informing. Sharing words, pictures and videos. Asking questions. Finding answers. It’s a rich and vibrant experience."

OldRosesposted 3 years agoin reply to this

That description refers to an internet wide audience, not an audience limited to HubPages.  "Open community" means open to the internet. A closed community would be one where you have to pay to participate.

It is often hard to comment since the format changed.
I can search and not find it on news feed to reply.
Unless i catch it early..it is gone from reach.

HubPages is not a social media platform. Some years ago we were told to delete "junk" comments, such as comments only saying "great hub" or something like that. So, I only comment if I have something to say that adds to the subject of the hub.

Let me just put this out there- The best response to a comment or hub, is to make a one paragraph summation of your feelings or counter-opinion right after you have read it.

Writers like me frequent the Hubpages forum  from time to time. I'm not consistent visiting the forums for a thread to discuss. I have seen a thread that's about a year old respond to by a writer in a forum which I'm participating.
