So I went out of town this weekend and stayed far away from the computer.  No checking my email, hubpages stuff, nothing.

I just logged on to the computer, and was in for a nice surprise: one of my hubs totally took off traffic-wise.  It is a short hub that I wrote last October.  It is getting a bunch of traffic from yahoo search (and it has affected my adsense in a great way).

Anyway, it is just a great reminder that those little hubs you don't think much about can surprise you at any time.  It's a short hub and took almost a year to pay off.  Nice Sunday night surprise.

That is so nice to hear you have no idea.  Given the research I've put into a few of my "evergreen" attempts, I can only hope.  But, I will say, you just never know.  I'm still trying to figure out why my cat hub stays so high up the list for my personal hub ranks when my arc flash, bad rap, and powdered wig hubs have all the real information in them.  Anyway, I'm glad you have one that took off, and that's very inspiring to hear.  Congrats.

My congrats as well!  Question though...you mentioned this written Oct. '07...are you in the habit of updating or refreshing?  Seems like somewhere on the hubpages 'how to' info. they mention updating and freshening...to keep google interested or something.  Anybody got any comments on this? Stacie, did you ever 'refresh' your October '07 hub?

Actually, I do try to refresh and update my hubs.  I go through spurts of doing it, and then longer spurts of not doing it.  But this is not one of the updated hubs.

Funny enough, it is NOT about Halloween, but about negative calorie foods.

That happened with one of my hubs too, but it was StumbleUpon that I got my traffic from.  Just remember that those spikes never last.  Mine was gone within a week.  My adsense did well during that time as well, but the next month, it was back to normal.  Still, the spikes are nice.

Great News Stacie.  I feel the exact same way about updating hubs.

If you add ebay products or a news feeds to your hubs these will update the hubs on a constant basis, which is nice if you do not have the time to update all of your hubs each week.

Thanks Sweetie Pie...and thanks for other compliments you've left around the forums  (google search page one) and my hubs lately...really appreciate the feedback!

'Grats Stacie !   Outside visits are where the $$ is...

Much as I love visits from within the community, I love even more ones from outside.   My pathetic little trickle of traffic is 40% SE's...

Woo hoo. I finally reached the half-way point on that...for over 1 year of having Adsense. But then again, 80% has been earned since I joined HubPages.

At 6 months here, am half-way to the first $100. slower than I thought, but just wrote topic that hit five $ potential in the hub metrics.   Will take awhile for it to be 'recognized',,,,but am optimistic!  Wishing the 2nd week of hubmob topics was a higher $$$$ hub metrics potential. I wrote a column for first topic, but thinking I need to write more five $ columns.   If I love to write, why not write columns with high 'income potential'?

It's official: I've passed the $100 mark just from HubPages earnings alone within one month (and the month is only a bit more than half over).  I love breaking personal records!

My new goal will be $200 within one month.

Sorry, I don't mean to butt in on you guys, but is Hubpages all your working with?

I just happen to roll over your conversation looking for something else (Google, go figure lol!)

Have you tried squidoo, wetpaint, weebly, wikidot and so on, I could go on for days about other places. There all just like hubpages and Google along with the rest of the serps love them too!

Your missing out, if your not using them, and you can put adsense on those pages or affiliate links, whatever too!
