I think I'm becoming an addict.  I used to stay away from the forum because I found the threads too confusing to follow.  Doesn't take much to confuse me.  But now I find myself checking in every few days or so just to see what's going on.

Do we need a 12 step program for something we don't want to quit unless its interfering with our daily functioning.

i am so addicted! i agree habee we do need a 12 step program

i love the forums because its a great way to get to know other hubbers. everyone has hubs that tell a little of their story weather it is plainly stated or if its a hidden message but the forums give us a chance to get to know hubbers on a more intimate level

While I don't post much, I am addicted at checking the forum.

I check it ALL the time; I just don't often reply to what I read.

I'm never tempted to visit the forums.  They are a waste of time.

Just as I NEVER check my Adsense earnings except at month end!

Excuse me while I just check my Adsense (again)... smile

I've said it before and I'll say it again  - I am powerless over my addiction to the forums even tho I've pretty much conquered all my other addictions (except food) so now its food and forums
    . . .   and movies . . . and music . . . and magazines . . .

well, food, forums, movies, music, magazines, buff boys  . . .

    oh!  and shopping!

I admit to my addiction to HP, and HP forums. I turn my computer on first thing in the morning, go straight to my e-mail to see if I have any news from HP. While that's going on the second tab is already going to hubpages and as I log in I go back to check my mail, and then Forums here I come!

I don't get anything else done.

    Forums as brain power!

I really like the interaction of the forums.  I like the conversations, games, discussions & debates.  I dont join in on all of them, but I like to read them.  One of the discussions recently even led me to write a hub.

I post on the forums mostly to help keep up my score

    1. profile image0
Justine76posted 14 years agoin reply to this

      does that work?

      1. profile image0
Deborah Sextonposted 14 years agoin reply to this

It helps. But I can remark on hubs, answer the questions, post on forums and my score climbs slowly..than I can work, go to dinner, watch TV and my score plummets. I lose the score much faster than I can build it. .

I do not have an addictive personality as a general rule. I can either take or leave most things. But I have become addicted to HP. I have set so much in front of the computer the last few weeks I have calluses on my backside.

  22. Cagsil profile image71
    Cagsilposted 14 years ago

Well, I have answered this question before and I can honestly say it's not an addiction. I don't feel guilty or bad, when I'm not here.

Even with my 17K posts in 5 months, it's still not an addiction.

@Justine76 - Does it work? I'm sure it has some impact, but how much isn't really known. Also, the impact it does have can be countered by making comments on other people's hubs, because you are still getting yourself noticed and I think both(commenting on hubs and interaction in the forums) are equal in value.

That is just an opinion, because HubPages keeps certain aspects of authorscore/hubscore quiet(secretive).

    Hope that helped somewhat. smile

I was just curious, for my score I usally notice a drop after Ive been fairly active in the forums. So, I was jsut wonderig if it was different for others.
Im not very concerned with my score, as I am only here recreationaly.  smile
      thanks

  24. TheGlassSpider profile image64
    TheGlassSpiderposted 14 years ago

Yup. Guilty as charged. Even when I'm not writing in the forums, I'm reading other Hubs (learning about what it takes to make money here) and peeking in on conversations in the forums...and sometimes I get quite vocal. No matter what else I'm doing (editing or writing for clients, studying, doing homework, etc.)  I'm also always checking on the Hub.

It's just a great community, it feels very friendly--even sort of family like. There's a lot of fun, support, intellectual stimulation...*other* stimulation LOL...a lot of great people and writers here.

*sings* Can you feel the love in here...

I'm definitely addicted to the forums. Look what happened when I took my break from HP, lasted a whole half day before I just HAD to check the forums and then HAD to leave a reply in a thread. THEN went maybe a day and a half before I gave up taking a break completely. Guess I just don't have much willpower when it comes to HP lol
