She sounds like a viable and stable contender for President of the United States of America to me!
OMG! lol Oh, our very own political reality show, .
It could be a rumor... not sure..... http://alaskareport.com/news39/x71283_d … palins.htm
I wonder was she ever a Hubber, she has all the qualities of one
http://hubpages.com/profile/SarahPalin
Sorry if it's been posted already
I called that one when she was running for VP. I said, Todd better watch his back--there's like, a gazillion rich right wing geezers in DC who want her. Watch Bill Kristol or Pat Buchanan talk about her--it's embarrassing.
She's after power, and Todd isn't the ticket to that. Color me totally unsurprised.
Well .. I hate to burst some people's bubbles, but this RUMOR is FALSE! I hope it was good while it lasted, but don't worry, I'm sure there will be other false stories of this type for certain people to salivate over a while before they get proven false again.
Gotta run .. gonna be late for the train!
Lita I am indeed Irish and if it sounded like I was slagging off American chicks please accept my apology as our politics are even worse. I just don't like Palin and I guess I was referring more to past American leaders, sorry again if I sounded offensive, I love America !
What is a typical American chick? I mean, seriously?
I'm not offended at all, I'm just curious. When I was in England in the 70s I noticed the guys there all seemed to have this impression of us as being just, I don't know, total sluts. They didn't SAY it that bluntly because they were British after all, but that was the gist of it.
If this is true, then poor Todd always was his Barbie's Ken. She's so much more a money maker without him.
It's a rumor that the Palins are divorcing. Not only is it a rumor, it's false.
Yeah - it's false. But dirty little trolls can "never resist" spreading filth.
The Christian Science Monitor, The Huffington Post, and several news blogs are reporting such "rumors."
I'd keep my tongue in check, Madame. Do you even understand the nature of political journalism is the question I would have to ask, but I will keep that question of a rhetorical nature, as I do not want to speak to a true troll spreading filth.
Wow, politics sure can bring out the bitter pettiness in certain types.
No, incorrect. I only post now (when I do) around friendly people, be they liberal or conservative. So I happily give the floor to all trolls, and make an expedient exit.
You have fun amongst yourselves.
You know, I didn't like Sarah Palin. But I hate to see that her and her families lives have become a reality show and appears to be turning into Springer.
Some say she brought it on herself, which she deserves some blame. But the media deserves some too.
As a liberal, I feel sick writing this. I must have a fever of some sort but I will say it anyway. . . .
I hope their family gets through this how they see fit and I actually wish them the best.
If she runs for President I will do everything in my little to none power to see her lose.
Very statesman-like and well stated, pgpappa. Agreed. My fascination with the entire story is that many of us knew long ago that we were being sold a 'bad' bunch of goods. Meaning, she isn't anywhere near presidential material.
I have nothing against the woman personally, except that out-sized will to power and lack of necessary self-analysis.
I could almost hear the tee hee in the title of this forum...
Small towns, small minds..
Not really, Maven. Unless you mean Sara Palin's town of Wasila, lol... I'm not a native Arizonan...and I'm a former New Yorker...where I worked for (omg) The Village Voice. The thing is, my equally liberal partner was in reading online newspapers and broke in to tell me it was all abuzz on several sites. Just after we were recovering from her resignation, wow.
And hey, if you can't satirize political figures, you just really cannot have any fun at all, you know? :0)
Echhh...she is despicable. As much as she bitches about "the media did this" and "the media does that".....she is busy writing a book (about what pray tell?) and once again placing herself and her family on the platform that she claims to detest so much.
Her and Octomom belong in the same place....a dumpster in the Arctic Ocean.
I call em like I see em....what can I say?
Glenn Beck is entertaining...he is no Howard Stern...and I don't listen to / watch him...but he is successful. Everyone has their particular brand of vodka....
On Sarah Palin's Facebook page she says No Truth to Latest Rumors
Interesting how certain types react to rumors like this by gleefully licking their chops at the prospect of reveling in the personal misfortune of someone they disagree with politically. Doesn't matter if it has been confirmed or discredited yet, just the potential is enough to stimulate the basest of instincts.
One wonders where rumours originate from.
Celebrities often do the 'oh noes they're all following me when I go out shopping!' but the paparazzi is often tipped off by the stars own publicist.
Just look at the number of Obama post and you get your sense of that.
But with Palin, it is personable. I personally would hate to see her as a national political figures idealogically. But just because I do not like her brand of politics means I wish ill things happen to her. I want her to lose, not suffer pain.
That is the problem with politics today. People who want Obama to fail only do so because they want Obama to fail. Regardless of the fact some of his ideas have been introduced by conservatives before, they want the man to fail.
I think for many women, it is a personal/political thing. Many feel that, number one, she has set back women's interests in politics by 25 years or more, by the nature of the reasons she was propelled to the national stage. Number two, I think many women feel she truly is incompetent and a bad representation of our gender (I do). It's not about her being a pretty doll, so much as it is her being a pretty doll with the lack of necessary skills, and to go further to say she is a pretty doll with the lack of necessary skills that was propped up by what many see as a good-old-boy political establishment.
That she had a definite lack of self-analysis and out-sized will to power in accepting the VP nomination is her woe, therefore, in the creation of personal problems. Same as Sandford, ie. It's not that most, I think, wish bad things upon her...it's that we see she did not play by the rules or ethical standards some hold, and I think there is some anger amongst women for the charade that has been taken to a national level. Many want to disassociate from that. We do not see her as a real politician and in no way want her representing us....BESIDES the usual bipartisan concerns.
A woman reaching the highest office of her state and being nominated for Vice President of the United States by her party nationally, gaining millions of supporters across the country, and demonstrating independence and personal resolve in the face of viscious personal and professional attacks certainly must have set back women's interests at least 25 years.
........................
It seems the sites claiming the rumor is "False" outnumber the sites claiming it is true. Even snopes.com, which actually has a "Sarah Palin" button under "Politics" does not have info.
Time will tell.
If it is false, then shame on the National Enquirer or whoever planted the story. *Slaps wrist of NE publisher.*
If it is true, it makes me sad that those poor Palin kids, who have already been dragged through the media attention of a presidential campaign, will suffer even more. Most especially the baby!
If it is true, it does not show Mrs. Palin in a very favorable light. She will have to come up with some other platform besides "family values" for any future runs.
BTW, Moving to Montana soon, eh? Isn't Montana close to Wyoming, home of that dreamboat ex-VP, Dick Cheney? Maybe she'll be giving old Dick some hunting lessons!
The husband and wife team who do snopes.com can't be expected to keep things up to date by the minute.
http://fs.huntingdon.edu/jlewis/AL/Images/US_MAP.jpg
Montana is 'close' to Massachusetts also. Perhaps Ted Kennedy can give her some driving lessons.
'Rumors' from insider citizen journalist on the blogosphere:
"Todd has been sleeping on the couch for a while. Right now, Sarah is away camping with the children and Todd wants to return to the North Slope (if he can get his old job back). They are not 'together' but there is so much potential money at stake that they will continue to live a charade until it's locked in. Sooner or later Todd will return to the North Slope and they will continue to deny any separation - while living apart."
*edit: In the journalistic field, sources are just that... They are people often close to the source that a journalist gets a tip from. In political journalism, Deep Throat of course, was a famous anonymous source. A journalist needs to be careful that libel does not occur...this is done by attributing sources, and labeling rumors as rumors. Of course, many who have never worked as a journalist (although one would hope education can help them) may not know that.
Citizen journalism and online reporting, including the use of 'tweets' in Iran during the political and civic demonstrations has gained mainstream credibility. FYI, the Whitehouse recently publically acknowledged the political blogger from Huffington Post who broke stories concerning the bloody demonstrations in Iran by the use of these online alternative sources.
Some here clearly are not up to speed on the current state of the information industry.
This just in! I heard Sarah Palin is really a vampire! I know it's true 'cause I read it on www.Iliketotallyhatesarahpalinandallthi … blican.org. Like, OMG! I like knew it! LOLZ! This is like so like totally like typical of those people of that political side I like totally like hate. They are like all like totally like vampires.
wow dude were you nuetered or something? at least get help for that bad 80's hair talk.
Seeing how the new "christian conservative" Republican party distorts everything, I think I'll pray to there God for this to not be true. Heaven forbid if Palin divorces Todd. The next thing Democrats will hear, is how Palin is a closet bleeding heart liberal.
Funny how the Right hates when false rumors get told about their favorites but have no problem speading them about Obama.
For example: The Birthers.
That being said, Palin, Sanford, etc. To all the Bill Clinton supporters, show Republicans we are consistent. Don't go after the interpersonal stuff. Let them be.
Of course, one more family values speech from Sanford and attack.
It's not true. Some spokesperson of hers refuted the rumor. If your invested in "Palin as Moron" you'll have to find something else. Try something that's actually true.....
Oh now I see, it is the Democrats fault. Dude, we want nothing to do with the heifer. Look to your own party, remember Bush? Wasn't he who perfected the whole lying thing???
"Read my lips.....", oh my bad that was his father.
Bad democrat. Bad.
I'm a long way from a fan of Palin in office, or her belifs, but as for families, that is different. Leave her alone or hurt her innocent children.
It is interesting to see people who think so highly of themselves, take such joy in the possibility of someone elses pain.
Without regard to her politics, is she still not a human being, just as most of us are?
Then to take a rumor and try to propagate and enhance it is just plain meaness.
In is also interesting to see those that supported the winner still try to villify the losers instead of pointing out the positive of what they supported.
Of course if there is no positives to point out, I guess there is little else to do but kick others when they are down.
Way too much attention being spent on the ex-governor. Whoever is responsible for this rumor is only fueling more interest in her. Which, of course, will only serve to sell more of her books.
I was skeptic.... But that thought never crossed my mind.... Is Sarah Palin or her team leaking these tidbits.... for book sales.... it might even help her political future... one false "rumor" like this can vindicate even "genuine" charges against her... she can try playing the victim later.
Exactly. She loves to play the victim, and look how it brings out her base and her fans. The left is being mean to poor Sarah! Those animals.
I think she appeals to the worst in everyone, her fans AND her enemies. Every time I see her I think of Fay Dunaway in "A Handmaid's Tale" I don't doubt that her own publicity team put this out, and in a day or two she'll be all over the news spewing acid 'moral outrage'.
I also think it could still be true AND they leaked it themselves so she could do the moral outrage thing.
I find her to be vile both on a political and a personal level, and the fact that she has ANY fans is a very bad sign for America.
Politics would be too boring....very soon we may have "Palinism"...enjoy Bushism http://www.slate.com/id/76886/
http://politicalhumor.about.com/od/bush … quotes.htm
I have figured out who the Sarah Palin hubber really is. It is definitely a joke hub because one night their IP matched the IP of another hubber. This Sarah Palin hubber does not live in Alaska, just wanted to let everyone know . However, they did leave a funny comment on my hub about not liking to golf.
First of all if you're getting your information from the Huffington Post, maybe, just maybe, you should try reading something a little more reputable.
Um, sorry. I cross reference everything...but I've been beat up for actually mentioning the New York Times (liberal elitist). But trust me, this is on more than a few sites. Oh, and did I mention that degree I have in journalism? No, I shouldn't mention that either, I forgot. (I know exactly where Huffington Post stands on a spectrum.)
We should all just do as those of the opposite political affiliation, and indeed our elders....even down to our founding fathers, say.
It would seem the journalism field is still suffering from the Curse of Dan Rather http://www.examiner.com/x-11363-Dallas- … s-weigh-in
It says a sad thing when such a lie can be picked up by journalists all over the country and treated as truth. What does this say about the integrity of our journalists and of the field as a whole? Journalists claim to be politically neutral, but can be when they take obvious pot shots at people who disagree with them? Journalists are supposed to check and cross-check their facts, but as this and the Brokaw fiasco show, many times it's more important to get a good sounding story than it is the truth. If the so-called Fourth Estate cannot be counted upon, who can be count upon?
Lost in all this is how the very first post suggests that a divorced woman is somehow unstable and unfit to hold high office. A very feminist view...
Wow! This is great. You went over sixty posts with a lie. Imagine what you could do if you wrote something that was true.....
Bibowen, I'm sure you are perhaps familiar with political satire (?) Saturday Night Live sure is, as are a number of publications, including The New York Times, as well as The National Review.
And who are you specifically speaking to? Everyone who posted here whose views are opposed to yours? BTW, many of them are among our very best writers on hubpages.
If you understand the concept of satire, then you would know that there is nothing satirical about the divorce rumor. Tina Fey and SNL poke fun of Palin, make fun of her mannerisms, exaggerate them. They take something that is true and blow it out of proportion. This is humor based in something that we know to be true.
But the comment about her getting a divorce isn't based in truth. It was a rumor; worse, it's a rumor that's not true (as far as the public record shows). If this is humor it is humor for the ignorant, not the knowledgable; for those that don't know, not those that do know.
And what of "our very best writers" agreeing with you? Rumormongering is no respector of persons.
I respectfully disagree, sir. And as far as our 'very best writers,' we have in our company Maureen Dowd, among other very substantial op ed writers and bloggers.
I believe this will bother you in the extreme, however, it is clearly labeled satire:
http://www.thespoof.com/news/spoof.cfm? … e=s2i57543
And Salon is quite reputable, comparing her to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a serious piece. Oh. My.
http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/20 … index.html
What gets me, truly gets me, is that the right truly, truly doesn't understand the concept of satire in regard to the Obama/birth certificate flap. Which I find laughable, . And that I don't think a few Hubpage readers understand the concept of public figures vs. private figures and what goes as far as that concept.
And as far as equal opportunity, how about that Jon Edwards, Breck Boy, and those 'rumors' somebody broke before the actual story came down?
But incorrect, as proven above.
Ever notice people talking around you? No--don't answer....rhetorical question. You have the floor, the last word, every question. EVERYTHING. I applaud you, and happily retreat, yielding you the floor for your excellent comments.
Hey -- any followup details? Is the divorce happening or not?
BTW I saw a tabloid headline at the supermarket tonight that Obama has a gay lover and Michelle is po'd. Anyone else seen that one?
True or false, I actually hope it's the latter, we're all discussing the issue so it must be of some consequence to us.
