How can CNN and MSNBC twist the words and actions of Trump so easily?

They even show a man behind Trump when he made the "second amendment" comment. The man was plainly laughing at the comment because it was meant as a joke.

You mean the Certainly Not News (CNN) and More Socialist Nonsense & Bull Crap (MSNBC) channels?

What do you expect, that is their idea of fair and balanced. We call it ITPOHC (in the pocket of Hillary Clinton). The ITPOHC media. The people who work there don't sleep well at night, not because of guilt for their sham journalism but because they are bloodsucking vampires just looking for their next victim.

Trump doesn't really have to worry about CNN or MSNBC.
It's his fellow Republicans who are abandoning him and distancing themselves from him with every comment he makes.
You can't win a general election without the support of your party.
I saw the tape and without a doubt the guy in the audience responded as if he were initially shocked by the comment but found it to be funny. The guy would not have attended the rally if he weren't in favor of Trump. As you noted it most likely was meant to be a joke.
However both Republicans and Democrat leaders don't feel a presidential candidate should be making jokes which infer violence towards another candidate. Some idiot might take him seriously.
Whether one calls that "political correctness"  is up to the viewer.
My guess is there will be instances where FOX News will twist Clinton's words as well. As they often say about elections:
    "It's the silly season!"
Both sides will be looking for "gotcha moments" daily.

Its interesting that liberals and the MSM completely seem to forget a comment made by HRC during the 2008 election cycle where she offhandedly made a remark about the assassination of RFK in reference to timing and polling in her race against Obama.

I am a liberal and  remember HRC's comment very well. It's been brought up this election cycle as well, and her words were not acceptable then or now. Being angry about Trump's careless words is not the same as giving her a pass.

Just like a liberal you raise a straw man.Being angry about Trump's careless words is not my point, it's the double standard, the media ignoring anything HRC says while jumping all over Trump's words which aren't even as bad or as blatant.

Joking about the death by gun violence of a political opponent to one's followers is irresponsible and inciting. It's Trump's followers who must do mental gymnastics to make such a thing acceptable. Trump needs to take his words back and apologize. His supporters should demand that he do so. None of us should support any candidate so blindly that their every action, no matter how reprehensible, is acceptable. We all need to demand better behavior from our representatives and ourselves.

I'm not a Trump supporter, but I do have to say I find it a bit disingenuous that the media goes off the rails about this, but don't bother to mention that time when Hillary was in the primaries with Obama and stated she was staying in and then mentioned the assassination of Kennedy in June.  Same kind of disgusting underhanded reference to violence.

The media does not serve the public interests, they are there for sensationalism and ratings.  Trump knows how to play that game well and he is an attention seeker, not a genuine candidate - sorry, but no one screws up as much as he does if they are trying to actually win and take the office.

I think Trump and Hillary are both horrible, but you have to admit, the system has the "divide and conquer" tactics down to a science.  Here we all sit fighting over who is the "lesser evil" once again.....

If we ever banded together and compromised and looked for common ground and solutions we'd be a danger to those in power, so every election cycle we revert to this childish nonsense instead of paying attention to what is actually going on in the world.  Shameful.

This kind of tactic is meant to be confusing, so nothing is twisted.

Perhaps it's so easy to "twist his words" because there's so little substance in what he says.

If he made that comment, and backed it up with his thoughts that people who support the Second Amendment have done a great job of limiting laws that restrict guns, and so, might be a powerful anti-Clinton force in this election cycle, his intent would have been clear.

Instead, he just throws out these one-liner sound bites, and leaves it up to the public, and the media, to interpret them, and then complains when he is misinterpreted. Perhaps candidate Trump relies too much on the public's ability to read his mind, and should do a better job of saying what he means.

(And as for that Second Amendment speech? If you watch the video, the man laughs, and the woman next to him looks shocked. She didn't think he was joking.)

When a person in the public eye says something like "Hilary Clinton wants to abolish the second amendment" we expect that there is some evidence of that such as her saying it or writing it.  When you want to lead the country, you can't say anything you want and then say "just joking" later.
I don't think he intended to have her killed but it just came out of his mouth.  It shows poor judgement, which is good for the voters to see.  I don't like Clinton as much as I don't trust Trump but someone who doesn't think is perhaps more dangerous.
By the way, none of the so called "News" channels are truthful.  They all have an agenda and are paid to have it.  To criticize CNN and MSNBC and leave out Fox says something.

Hi Greg....An "Independent" here & hope I'm allowed to comment......IMHO, it doesn't matter at this point what Trump said, how he said it, what he MEANT or why he didn't simply complete his thought.  I watch and listen carefully and religiously.  Just like everyone here who is concerned about the election, I'm doing my utmost to pay attention.
Let me use plain old slang here.....our choices for POTUS suck....big time!
Do I want to see HC in the WH?  Absolutely not.  However, the Donald has been repeatedly and painfully slashing away at his own throat. You know it, I know it & America knows it.....even those who refuse to admit this.  Bravo for their party loyalty.....I guess.
Here's some more slang for you...as much as I despise Mrs. C. and realize she's a lying, thug.....I'm afraid in good conscience I must say Trump is not the least bit better.  I will say that I easily realized his comment was with the intent to express the power & influence of the NRA.  Period. and that's all he meant.
However, he's like a damned child.  He got a thump on the head from me when he attempted to humiliate McCain.....2 thumps when he visibly & rudely mocked a disabled journalist, shouted to the crowd that he would pay the legal fees for anyone beating up people in the audience, made the sexist remark to Meghan Kelly about "bleeding from...."
Plain and simple...the man is an enormously wealthy Imbecile.  I'm not excusing him.  I'm not creating explanations for him and I can SEE he's doing this ALL to himself....and so can everyone else!
Truth, honesty, morals, ethics and CONSCIENCE are the reasons I'm an Independent.  Because I am not going to support a thug, an imbecile, a theif, a liar, a sexist or any such type person  based simply on the FRIGGAN party they represent.   THE PARTIES NEED TO GIVE US CHOICES OF PEOPLE WORTH VOTING FOR!!!!  That's my 2 cents.

Frumpton called Trump Hitler earlier. Now he is calling him a Communist. My point is, Frumpton, and most Dems can't make up their minds. I lost relatives to the Hitler regime in WWll and Trump is NO Hitler.

We'll, Obama is no hitler either, doesn't stop the hate machine. And they call Obama weak and a tyrant. A radical Christian and a Muslim. A fascist and a socialist. Get used to it. I for one vow to treat trump just as Obama is treated. CommieHitler!

    All news mediums lie.
Liberals like to think that Fox News holds the monopoly of lying to the public and getting their viewers hyped up about the evils of the other parties. I didn't see the video in question of Trump making that remark however.

On a side note: I visit various forum boards and enjoy reading about peoples political opinions. And i have to say some of the comments on here...well you people should be ashamed of yourselves. We're adults here, if you don't agree with the other persons opinions don't resort to name calling. Ever think about how stupid you make your side look when you backup your argument not with facts but with childish name calling?

Really? Do you know they can be sued and lose millions of dollars for lying because of very strict libel laws?

Hxprofposted 8 years agoin reply to this

Libel is, as I understand, VERY hard to prove.  It's no wonder there aren't more libel suits.

promisemposted 8 years agoin reply to this

Libel is quite easy to prove because it's based on the written word. Slander is hard to prove because it's based on what people say. For those reasons, newspapers get sued a lot more often than people who spread rumors.

If multiple news outlets are siding with a Criminal like Killary there must be something really big at steak to lose if Trump wins They are so pathetic with their childish stories against Trump and nothing negative against the most crooked politician in the history of the USA .

She isn't running anymore to fulfill a lifetime goal of becoming president or to help (another lie, she actually wants to destroy) America. She HAS to win or she'll spend the rest of her life in prison. She wins her crimes disappear.

Darrell Vickers, the man seen reacting to Donald Trump's comment about "Second Amendment people"

“I can’t believe he said it. I was just absolutely taken aghast. Down here in the South, we don't curse in front of women, we don't drink liquor in front of the preacher, and we don't make jokes like that in public. Now, we may do things in private. We may go to the shed and drink some moonshine or something like that. But we would have taken Mr. Trump to the shed and said, 'Don't say things like that because people will misconstrue it.'"

    The difference? Common sense.

Especially when you are running for president. Think about your words before you let them loose. Does he think he's going to get a free pass once he gets elected? No, it will be even worse when he says something stupid.

Because that's exactly what he did: a comment about stopping her with violence. Joke or not, the man knew what Trump was saying. The excuse Trump gave later (that he was calling them to vote) is not a joke.

The mainstream media is so biased against Trump that journalism has died, so evident that the NY Post commented on it.

American journalism is collapsing before our eyes

You like someone who wants to be buddies with a Russian president?  You like someone who is similar to Hitler, who had no compassion for those who weren't Aryan, or white?  Well, that's Trump for you.

Frumpleton --Would it really be so bad to be friends with Russia? Trump is nothing like Hitler. I lost relatives in Germany because of Hitler. So don't even compare Trump to Hitler.

He never said that. He just said, "Russia if you have the missing e-mails, give them back. It would make someone here happy." That's all he said.

This isn't an answer.  I am new at this site so I don't know how to complain to the webmaster.  I think that all comments should be allowed, as long as there is no profanity or violence.  I think, last I knew, we lived in America, where there is supposed to be freedom of speech.  So what if someone writes something I don't like or you don't like?  Who wants a forum that has everyone all thinking the same way?  I have noticed that some comments were unpopular so you have to click on them to read them.  I don't think that is right.  Probably this won't get published, either.

Frumpton, I haven't deleted any of your comments. After the last comment in each section click on the hidden comments. Sometimes the site hides to shorten the list. Sorry if you think I deleted. I don't do that.

cause they are biased against him---they tend to lean left

it's true also however that Trump has had a clumsy delivery at times per certain issues

Trump is his own worst enemy in my opinion.  I will vote for him however.

Hillary is not an option for me at all---so utterly unattractive as a candidate---just my opinion
