You're right, and I think it's things like this that made many assume the humans in Gen1 and Adam in Gen2 were the same event. But notice that the order in which things are listed in Gen2 don't match Gen1 (plants> human> animals). The language of Gen2 shows that it's talking about a localized region. Mesopotamia. Gen1 doesn't speak in such particulars, but when reading from one to the next it's easy to stay in the mindset of global creation.
If you research the climate history of Mesopotamia you'll find that it frequently changed back and forth from green and alive to a dry arid desert. That brown band across northern Africa and the Middle East moved back and forth, north and south, many times. It often behaved as a kind of cattle gate, affecting early human migration. When Gen2 begins, it begins in an era when Mesopotamia transitioned from desert back to grassland.
Seth was born when Adam was 130 because Eve said Seth was God's replacing of Abel. So we know Cain was banished before Seth was born. There would only be Abel's family, Cain's family, and any potential brothers/sisters unnamed. Cain's fear was that he was being banished from the land his family lived. Besides, God 'marked' Cain to protect him. Adam, Eve, and Cain had already proven very capable of doing what God specifically said not to do. Whoever Cain feared would harm him would not simply based on God's mark.
Possibly, or maybe Gen1 gave different orders because it was another story about the same event. The bible does specifically say that Adam would have been "alone" if not for Eve.
I still think that the sons of God were angels who came down. This explains the different statures of their offspring. So it would fit that others came after Adam and made children who were large in stature and populated elsewhere. And yes, then Cain would have been afraid of them. Adam being 130 when Seth came leaves a lot of time for all the other events to have occured. The daughters only needed to be 13yrs to have the babies.
Adam would have been alone. He was a being that lived for centuries. Eve was made for companionship. What companionship could a mortal human offer?
Why would angels have free will? Why would angels even be equipped to create life? Adam/Eve were built outside of the naturally evolved human line and were immortal in comparison. It's possible that they were all larger in stature, with both stature and age diminishing in subsequent generations as they interbred with mortal humans.
The Sumerians, who were the humans that inhabited Mesopotamia during this time, actually claimed they were taught how to build cities and govern them through kingship by gods. Immortal, human in form, male and female gods. These gods physically inhabited the temples built at the center of these cities. Cities that actually existed with temples that actually existed. In Sumerian images, these gods are always depicted as being roughly a third larger than them.
If Cain feared his own family, why object to being banished away from where they lived?
To answer the last question first, because out in the wilderness, no one could possibly come to his rescue as swiftly, possibly. All of your arguments sound plausible, but you must ADD, it seems, to come to your conclusions.
For one, the text does not really allow for other beings to be in existence. Genesis 1 talks of the human beings being made. Gen 2, talks of the humans that he made. The story changes scenes. We go back; "when the Lord God made the earth and the heavens,..." We talk first about there being no people to cultuvate the soil. Theeeeennnnn the Lord God formed the man...
Angels were given free will. Remember Satan??? They were possibly part of God's plan. The bible does not speak of other beings beside Adam and Eve as the first people. The man was alone without the woman. Then the "sons" (in my case, angels) were allowed to intermingle with humans because they wanted the women. And God wanted the giants?
Why make the distinction of their being giants if Adam and his wife were?
To answer your last question, the distinction wasn't made until lifespans had dwindled to nearly mortal, in Moses' day. This is what would have made Anak's descendants significant. They'd still be immortal, if that were the case. The wicked element that was meant to be abolished, still living.
I get what you're saying and I respect it. Just keep this in the back of your mind as you read and ponder in the future. Let it marinate a bit and then maybe see what you think.
And thanks for the discussion.
Yes, thank you again. I have always been of the mind that people may disagree amicably. We did it!!! and yes, it will marinate.
Lastly, who was Anak? (for proper analysis)
That is why I don't argue with anybody because nobody is going to win, you get in trouble for harassment, you go to jail and I am not going to harass anybody on here. Bless the ones that persecute us. Pray for the lost and hope they will find God some day. One girl used to say that I used to harass her and never truly talked to her. Then somebody truly called the cops on me and they said that I stalked their family and that is not true. This was over me talking to much about God and telling the brutal truth too. That is why I don't have a Facebook. What do you think? Is that a good reason not to have Facebook? I am not Fred Phelps. I am nit retarded. I would never somebody to go to Hell because they had a child before they were married. I told one person to go to Hell because they said Jesus drank and Jesus had sex too. I am surprised that Inam back on here. Good night. Talk to you later.
Do we all at least agree that Jesus was a real person who actually existed?

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. ...

Sorry.
We are experiencing God in our daily life. It is better than your science and knowledge.
Sorry.
Yes - I can see that you would not be interested in science or knowledge - like a computer.
But I get that you think you are better than me. You must be very proud of yourself.
I would like to apologize on behalf of the Christian faith for the behavior of anybody who has made judgmental comments or immature personal attacks in the name of God on this thread. That sort of behavior is certainly not biblical and does not stem from the actual message of the Christian faith. All men are created equal and all opinions are valid opinions. Jesus surrounded himself with prostitutes and tax collectors, preaching the message of forgiveness and love. Pious and invasive legalism is a human-invented doctrine that Jesus himself continuously decried, and it should be stricken from any and all discussions of this nature. Again, I would like to apologize to anybody on this page who may not agree with the Christian viewpoint who may have been offended by Pharisaical attacks against their viewpoints. These attacks are not representative of Christians as a whole, and I can only hope that this counterproductive trend will not utterly and completely mar the secular community's opinion of all Christians. If anybody would like to engage in a civilized, urbane, and respectful contemplation of this issue, I would welcome and enjoy it. Again, to anybody who may have been offended, you have my heartfelt apology, and I sincerely hope that some of the legalistic behavior that has been exhibited on this page does not continue in the future.
1Co 2:11-15: For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
Yes, but I was just referring to legalism driving people away. That is not the goal.
I understand your motive, but we needn't apologize for the word of God or compromise with the world. Legalism referred to holding Gentiles to Jewish law and traditions, not following the Bible in it's instruction to followers of Jesus.
Agreed, but I wasn't apologizing for my beliefs, I was apologizing for people's rude comments that are not representative of Christian doctrine. Regarding legalism, the idealism behind that term (good works can earn one's way into heaven) is still relevant today, where the emphasis should instead be on grace and forgiveness.
You missed part of the conversation.
We come away from that because now it appears that grace is not needed. There is no God, only majikal, fairy-tales that create dissonance within the believer.
This is being responded to. As it must.
TB, I appreciate your intent...give a soft friendly message about God's love, grace and forgiveness. Much of the world loves that message, and even those who discount it find it harmless enough and just blow it off. Although it is less stressful and more fun, we aren't told to try and make the world love us. That "feel good" message does no favors for the lost, and in fact buys false confessions for Christ by people who later fall away and then believing they already have tried and been failed by that path, loath it and work all the more against it.
Now the law, which is written on every man's heart, convicts people of their sins and makes them aware of their need for that forgiveness. People don't want the accountability and may work hard to silence that voice, but they can't completely. That is what the bible means when it says the law is a schoolmaster, because reminding them of their sin agrees with what they already know. Folks may get angry and dedicate all their time to fighting a God they say doesn't exist. Sometimes though, they will realize their need and only then are they are ready for the grace and forgiveness Jesus offers. We need to be there to assist them.
What of the others? Those who respond kicking and screaming against the conviction they feel in their own hearts, lashing out to blame those who represent the truth? We are only to try and bring the message. Once we know they are aware, our job is done. We can't save anyone anyway, only the Holy Spirit can do that. Rejecting Him is the only sin that can't be forgiven. Respect their right to be wrong. God will.
Of course that isn't always the end of it, for as we try to assist others in public forums, those kicking and screaming folks I mentioned will levy their attacks. Respond if you wish, using the bible as your guide, but don't feel a responsibility to them. Remember the verse I quoted for you earlier? God's word is foolishness to these folks. A fool hath said in his heart, there is no God. So foolishness to a fool.
Now for those of you who take offense to this...why do you? If indeed you have no belief in God, don't acknowledge your need for forgiveness and want nothing to do with Jesus, what consequence is my opinion to you? Have a good laugh at how foolish you believe me to be, and we can agree to disagree. Please don't blame me if that doesn't silence that voice I suspect you are dealing with.
Oh, I just hugged my phone for the first time
Thank you!!!
Wow! Thank you. And Thank you again.
Words just can not express...
I see your point. Jesus was meek and lowly within his ministry. But he was powerful. Much more powerful than any of the teachers of the law, or attendees of any message. When necessary, he got angry. And not only offended, but "got in the face" of those who were wrong. He went in the temple with a vengeance. Yes, he was with his own children. Chastizement was necessary. With the devil, he was blatant. He spoke the word of God and demanded that the spirit depart.
Here, we are under attack. To defend the word of God is not an easy task. But defended, it WILL be. Sometimes the conversation gets a bit snide and disrespectful, how can it not? It is not the children of God that turned down that street.

If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” (referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.

As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. ...

Jcddddfff,
First of all, there is no chance whatsoever that you are a Christian. For the record, I know more about Christianity than you and most of your brethern will ever know. I studied it in depth for a decade while I was a born again christian. And there are quite a few Ph.D Scholars out there who are amazed at my knowledge. So please don't put your bible in a list on my fanmail. I have just reported to Hubpages as harrassment, which it is.
Next, if you are a Christian, then you shouldn't be ashamed of it. You clearly are because you are pasting reams of verses under a junk name with no articles. You clearly joined in order to peeve people on this website. So you are absolutely and utterly not a Christian. If I remember my dogma correctly, the devil quotes bible verses very cleverly.
Lastly, you have all the makings of a troll and not a christian. Your fanmail was deleted - unread. After reaching a point in 1980 where I could tell people exactly more or less where a verse was in the bible just by them quoting the words, I've had a gutful of the bible. It's nonsense.

This is Jessica again. I can create as many accounts as I want. Sophia Angelique in the Holy Bible it says the only thing t will get us to Heaven is our faith in God. God doesn't care about religion because religion is man made from the Devil. You are right that I am not a Christian, but I do have a faith in God, so thank you for pointing that out to me. We are saved by God's mercy through ouse faith in God. Faith in God means devote your whole life to God, read the Holy Bible, pray, church and live out the gospel too. Faith is our personal relationship with God. Do you know my personal relationship with God? What is your personal relationship with God? God doesn't care about religion. Do you have nothing else better to do then argue with people on here? What do you do? Good luck to you. See ya.
I am a Christian because I obviously love to talk about God all the time because God is my passion and nothing else. I don't have friends because all I want to do is talk about God. You are being the judge, but God can only judge me. You will have to answer to God for that one day, so I will let God handle it. Thank you for judging me. You will be judged by the way you measure people and ton know that bible verse. Have fun. Goodick because I can keep coming here.
The devil also likes to talk about God. It's his favorite topic. Your pastor did tell you that? Oh, I forgot, you don't really have a pastor because you don't go to church. If you did, you would know that what you are doing here is morally wrong.
