The verse in question specifically says that god was with judah, and that god drove out the inhabitants of the mountains - but that he could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley because of their iron chariots.
Not that it was not time, not that there was a written reason - that he COULD NOT. That seems to imply that there is indeed something that the god of the bible cannot do. The bible is full of example of things that WON'T do. That's not what this verse says - especially when you read the original hebrew.

The bible says that anything that a believer with faith asks for in the name of christ shall be done. I've no doubt that many people who have lost limbs and prayed fervently to be healed in body as well as in heart have failed to regrow a limb. We know, through science, that certain animals can indeed regrow limbs. We know that it's conceivably possible in nature. I want to know why god will not regrow a limb - especially when it is prayed for with faith.

God has reason for doing what he does. Sometimes a limb removal is necessary. It is so like God the father to do as he pleases. Jesus said that the works that his followers saw him do would be topped by them. I would like to say here, that Jesus did not pray selfish prayers, he did not "heal" himself. When he prayed for himself, his prayer was unanswered. The next time Jesus said that he would do anything, the preceding phrase was, if ye abide in me, and my words abide in you. That meant that the asking would be within the realm of him. You will be asking for something that he would ask for. You will be content with what you have already. It will not be a selfish prayer.
To me, it's like this. Only God may decide what is just. Only God may decide what is fair. When you think about the fact that he searches the heart, you realize that he cannot make a mistake.

I am not sure about healing the limbs of amputees, I know they have "alternative" limbs. In a sense, yes many amputees receive "replacements" but the heart is more important than any arm or leg to God. Im sure some amputees are amputees as the very healing you speak of. He loves us all. I am sure that he has taken a limb or two to prove it.
