No matter how much makeup you apply on your face, no matter how much concealer you apply round your eyes to hide those dark under eye circles, at the end of the day when you have cleaned yourself and ready to to go to sleep (remove makeup always before going to bed- one of the best beauty tips, today' s makeup is tomorrow's dirt!) , you can see how your face looks without makeup. Everyone looks great in makeup but very few look gorgeous even without them. My grandmother whose is 85 and still very active has such a shine in her skin which brings us youngsters to shame. The funny part comes when the husband praises the lady's skin in front of the wife and as soon as he sees the look at the furious wife, he keeps complementing his wife and tries to prove that that particular lady stands no chance in front of his beautiful wife (my husband does it always!!!)

So here is the list of the vegetables and fruits which are great for the skin. I have started using more of these items in my cookiing now and can see some good changes (glowing skin). I found out that many of the items below are a good source of EFA and great for anti aging. I believe it is always better to start early and postpone wrinkles for some time.

  • Olive oil ( has EFA - essential fatty acids) which helps in softening and moisturizing skin. It is also very beneficial for the hair and makes it healthy and shiny.
  • Cucumber cures sun damage and anti aging.
  • Spinach for anti aging. A few months before I had written a hub on face packs on anti aging http://dipsmi.hubpages.com/hub/Anti-aging-homemade-face-packs
  • Yogurt for anti aging.
  • Pumpkin seeds are a good source of zinc which helps in reducing pimples and acne.
  • Mushroom for anti aging
  • Banana for anti aging
  • Broccoli s rich in vitamin A and helps in cell renewal.
  • Almond fights off free radicals and is a good source of vitamin E.
  • Avocado helps in making a skin look young and is great for a facial mask too.
  • Carrot for healthy skin. Rich in vitamin A and B.
  • Tomatoes repairs damaged skin cells and are anti oxidant
  • Water no beauty tip is ever complete without it. Always keep yourself hydrated.
  • Grapefruit is rich in vitamin C and fights off free radical damage.
  • Fish for shiny and healthy skin and hair. In India, the people in East India (West Bengal side) people have the maximum consumption of fish and trust me I have never seen so many people with so shiny skin and hair in India.
  • Green tea has vitamin C and eliminates dead cells. It is great for rejuvenating the skin. It also helps in reducing skin cancer.
  • Berries is a great anti oxidant.
  • Ground Flaxseed it is rich in omega 3 fatty acids, boosts energy and helps skin in healing faster.
  • Celery contains silica which is said to be great for a healthy skin.

When I started writing this hub, I just had a 5-6 healthy vegetables and fruits in mind but after research the list seems okay now. I have started eating broccoli (still do not like it) , carrots and cucumber daily. I hope this valentine my husband praises my skin in front of some other lady!

I have written many hubs on how to take care of skin externally till a thought crossed my mind as why not eating a variety of food that will help in keeping my skin radiant and healthy too. Hope this! helps For skin packs read
