London: multicultural... alive... fast paced... overcrowded... unpredictable weather...pubs at every corner...great architecture... where you find beauty in the most unexpected of places... yes, one mad vibrant city that I love!
Bawlmore hon!!! Funny accent, crabs, and big hair!!
Baltimore, Maryland.(aka...Bloodymore, Murderland)
I live in Miami, Florida... where English is a second language! :-)
Currently I live in Corpus Christi TX and one cool thing is you can drive and camp on the beaches ANYWHERE!
I'm from Rochester Kent UK, Charles Dickens based many of his novels in this area.
I live in TIfton, GA, where it's 105 degrees with 99% humidity. Who needs to visit a sauna when you can just step outside? I'm going to go get in my pool now!
I live in a small country, that has the highest number of meteorite craters per land area in the world.Estonia.
I live on the convergence of the Suwannee, Itchetucknee, and Santafe rivers in FL. I am less than minute walking time out my door from the Santafe, two minutes driving up the road from the Itchetucknee.... and about 4 mins from the Suwanee.
And it is quite peaceful, and very beautiful to the eyes.
Of course it is also boring as all hell and miles from anywhere or anyone... but it is great in its own way.
Whites Creek, Tennessee. If you can find it let me know. I think there's a reward of some kind. 12 miles northwest of Nashville. One interesting fact....if we go into the big city on the weekend we have to hire someone to babysit the town.
I live in Leicester in the United Kingdom
One interesting fact? We have a clocktower in the centre of the town referred to as "the clock tower"
not an imaginative lot are we?
Flagstaff Arizona - Home of JoyCone, the largest manufacturer of ice cream cones in the world.
I live in Maryborough, Queensland, Australia. The author of Mary Poppins as born here, theres a stature of Mary Poppins in Town.
I live in Johnson City, Tennessee. During the time of Prohibition, it was known as "Little Chicago" because Al Capone used the town as a hideout. Johnson City was a big railroad depot back in the 1920's, so it was a logical place for him to have a base. There are lots of buildings here that are linked with Capone and his men.
Wow that is too cool.
Columbia Missouri has a lot of interesting facts about it. But my favorite is my Missouri Tigers! Lets Go M I Z Z O U!!
Hi im from (GABORONE )Botswana ,in southern africa, the CAPITAL CITY OF THE WORLDS LARGEST DAIMOND PRODUCER; JUST A FEW HOURS FROM JOHANNESBURG......!http://www.botswana-places.co.za/gaborone_city.jpg
The Willis Tower was once called the Sears Tower and is bigger than the Twin Towers were. It is currently the tallest building in the USA.
I live in California, but I'm originally from Maryland--Mason-Dixon line. Very best blue crabs in the world, my mother is the best steamer that I know. And in other news, there is an animal called "nutria" near the Eastern Shore of MD, and it's also found down south. It's essentially a large rodent, and it was (and is) consumed (yes, eaten), by residents partially due to its rapid over population.
I live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.---The city of Brotherly Love and the Liberty Bell !
Prineville, Oregon - my interesting fact? It is the redneck capital of Oregon - but I jest. It is a frightening place to live if you are a city slicker like me! Lucky I know how to take a joke.
We live here and there. Not really a boundary defining kinda person when it comes to where to live. At sea is best and when we have to live on land, it is usually the big peninsula.
What an interesting thread. I've never seen it before, but have just spent some time reading the messages here.
Well, I live here:
Cologne.
During WWII, Cologne was bombed to the ground, so all the old buildings you see in this photograph were re-built and are, in fact, new. Except one; Der Kölner Dom (Cologne Cathedral - the large building with the twin steeples). In remained more or less in tact, but this was no act of God. Its steeples were useful as a land mark for the allies during air-raids.
I live in Doncaster,a small north England market town, home to the st leger classic horse race , I mile 6 furlongs. It has been a very lucky race for me.
I wouldn't really call Donny all that 'small', it is large for a market town, it would be very small for a city.
Hmmm... yes... Doncaster, the place that you often need to go to catch a train to London and the temporary home to Jason Shackell last year. That is actually all I know about Doncaster!
I come from Ipoh, a small city in Malaysia. It is known widely as one of the food havens in Malaysia. But some people from Penang (another state in Malaysia) would argue that Penang food is better!
I live in Braintree in the UK. Braintree is a small town and there is relatively little that is interesting about it. I suppose one of the more recent claims to fame is that The Prodigy were born and grew up here.
I am from sungai petani, a town in the northern state of Malaysia. It is a town where you can go to TESCO to shopping.Hang out at Starbuck coffee or maybe take your lunch at Kentucky Fried Chicken or Mc Donald. It is the fastest growing town in Malaysia with many new satelite towns around it. You don't have to worry about lodging because there are lot of hotels here.
G'day all
Guess where I'm from? Ok, I'm an Aussie, I live about 3 hours north of Melbourne in Victoria. It's not quite the a@#s end of the world, but I can see it from here.
Just kidding, it's a lovely hellhole.
I live in Birmingham (UK), which used to be known as 'the workshop of the world' and 'the city of a thousand trades'.
I'm from North Carolina:
Home of the Wright brothers' first flight--on the outer banks of Kitty Hawk.
Also birthplace of basketball great Michael Jordan~~Wilmington
In the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont near the US border with Canada where all things green grow.
I am from Columbia, Missouri.
We have the oldest University west of the Mississippi, and our college was the first to host a "Homecoming" event.
Go M I Z Z O U! Tigers rock the house...... Grrrrrrrr.
I love my Missouri Tigers. Black and Gold all the way baby.
I live in Margate, Kent, UK. Main claims to fame:
1. It's the home town of Tracy Emin
2. Chas & Dave wrote a song about it
3. Its high street has got the largest percentage of closed-down shops out of any high street in the country
Number 3 was suprising! With Kent supposed to be amongst the most affluent areas in the country!
Bits of it are affluent and bits of it... aren't. Especially around the coast.
Ditto in Essex. Huge diversity depending on whether you are in the north or south of the county. East or west too for that matter!
Nice to meet you, neighbour!
I'm in beautiful, sunny, hot, and humid South Florida. We have no mountains or hills, except.....we do have a hill or two refererd to as Mt. Trashmore - the trash dump! The largest hill in South Florida!
I live in western New York,in a small town that is half Old Order Amish and half English ( as they call us.)It's very interesting watching a culture so different then yours live day to day.The horse and buggies driving up and down the road, the way they dress, all of them dressed in their Sunday best going to church. Then you can pick up the pace and be in Buffalo N.y..Which is about 60 miles north, and be in the city and have major sporting teams. Then a there is Niagara Falls and you can be into Canada as quick as you can get across the boarder. If you go 60 miles south you will be in Erie Pa.Living in a little town that's no where, I can get some where in about 1 1/2 half. That's where I like living.
Rochester, New York, the original home of Kodak, IBM, Xerox, and Bausch & Lomb.
The Eastman House (Eastman Kodak) and the Eastman theater, hosting the Rochester Philharmonic, are my two favorite places.
You are very mysterious!
It's lovely you live on an island. Your own???
no...it's not mine...there's quite a few of us...problem is the time it takes to leave or return to it...so i only leave about 4x a year.....everything you need to live is here though...so not many reasons to leave basically, unless I'm travelling...most times I forget that i live on an island until i want to get off of it ha ha ha
If you are a social reject. Actually, there are allot of people living on their own islands amongst millions of people come to think of it.
Not a nice thing to say ...
If somebody lives on an island, it doesn't mean they're a social reject, even if it could be true that a social reject would feel comfortable living on a lonely island ...
Paul McCartney enjoys living on Mull of Kintyre - does that make him a social reject?
...no harm taken...many people don't understand what island living is like....many visit and then they want to figure out how to stay...that's what i did...and no, I'm not a social reject...and i like the fact the island doesn't hold millions ....but that's me....
Have you written a Hub about it? It would be fascinating - I'd be the first to read it.
I've often fantasized about living on one of the Florida Keys - a simple, relaxed life.
Where I live in the valley of Sonoma, California - (Bennett Valley) the air is always fresh, the fog rolls in and rolls out in summer keeping us cool and refreshed - the grapes are ripening on the vines and in the distance Mt. St. Helena presides. In winter it rains, sometimes alot, but only gets cold (30degrees or so) for a short time. Its a great place to grow flowers and grapes. It is maybe too idyllic, I get used to it and take it for granted. But really our weather here is pretty perfect and I'm fortunate to be here because I could never afford to live in a place like this if I didn't work for someone whose grandparents bought into it long ago.
...I've been in that area...it's beautiful...
I live a few hours away from Seattle, Washington. It rains a ton, but it's really green and beautiful...and there's a ton of mountains
Austin, Texas, the home of live music and spring fed swimming pools!
I live in North Carolina, where it is hot and humid this time of year.
We have a stone spring house in the back yard that was built in 1914 when the subdivision was a farm. There are crawdads and frogs in the spring water.
This is my first ever post in HP forums!
I live in Hull in the United Kingdom and it's the same town where William Wilberforce abolished slavery....
And also the smack heads own the streets!
I live in Columbus Ohio and if you stop and think about it for awhile Columbus Ohio is mentioned in tons of movies. People are constantly from Ohio and most often Columbus. I'm just saying I notice it because it's where I live. Also Columbus is one of the biggest test markets in the United States.
I live in Norwich, England - it's a great city actually, I live in a little bubble just outside the city centre, sort of like a village within.
Norwich is friendly, has lots of history, great parks and is close to the coast and countryside so lots of places to go. It used to be the third largest city in the UK in medieval times, and has more tudor houses than London (I know that because I wrote a hub about it!)
Pennsylvania is where I call home...the nearby city of Philadelphia is the place where the USA forefathers wrote the declaration of independence
The great california, its a great place for friends and boys and sun
I share the same home as the band Korn along with football players Joey Porter and David Carr here in California. We were rated #2 at one point on the list of our nations cities with the worst air qualities... Nothing too great other than being mentioned by Tom Hanks as he read our city aloud as it was labeled on a porta potty in a movie LOL! Last time it snowed here was in 1999. Summers are hot, even by 8pm it's only cooled down to 85 degrees....and I'll gladly take the heat over living in the cold and snow anyday!
I'm from Philippines, the Country where the boxer Manny Pacquiao came from, the land of the rising sun. But my location is somewhere in Metro Manila. Marikina specifically. I was part of the lucky 30% who were not affected during the Typhoon Undoy last year. Marikina is a Suburban place. Still has lots of trees and Plants in spite of it became a City with continuing developments.

What do you love about where you live? This can be about your home, your city, state or even the country.

Much of what I read on the internet, newspaper and especially social network sites like Facebook is NEGATIVE. People often see to be complaining about something. I admit there is a lot about which we can and maybe even should coplain, but I would like to start a positive flow of thoughts and words....

I'll go first, I was born on September 11.At work, we usually take the birthday boy or girl out to a free lunch. Needless to say, 9 years ago, I didn't get my free lunch. Thanks Osama!

What denomination are you? Tell me one interesting fact that very few may know.I know with Christianity there are many denominations (i.e. episcopalian, a.m.e., baptist, church of God, etc., etc.) But please don't limit this to Christianity - this is just a search for knowledge about religion...

I'd have to go with the waterfront in Toronto Canada, except for winter. It is where musicians, artists, venders all gather and eat lots of hot dogs. That or Sneaky Dee's pub uptown

Does it offend you when people make negative comments about where you live?
