   I was just wondering how successful people are with the Hubpages ad program and if anyone had managed to make payout in one day yet. I have yet to earn over $5 in one day from the ad program. How about everyone else?

      I've made less than $10 with the hub pages ad program so far.
      
      It would be nice if they had lenient payout schedules - like everyday if it reached the threshold if you wanted it to be that way.
      
      So no, clearly that's not me. I have yet to get into the habit of writing lots of hubs.

         That article dates from 2006.  Things have changed massively since then.  Reading it, I was surprised that the majority of the advice is still relevant and useful - just be aware that some of it is outdated.

         He also writes heaps of quality articles on his niche and has a very good handle on what people want to discuss.

      Yes it would be good if we were given a blow by blow account of what the
      top earners are actually doing to make their money.
      I've written about 23 hubs and have only been active for about a months or so even though I joined last year.
      I have done a bit of keyword search on some and it's interesting to note that it is those ones that are getting return traffic.
      I also go off and find community forums on the topic I've writen on besides using facebook and twitter.
      I suspect to increase traffic and make$$ i need to build other bloggs, preferably have my own website and utilise widgets and gadets etc.
      Also being based in Australia I wonder if Hubpages is too USA centric for my style.
      I see this as a learning curve and need to build on it. I would really appreciate it if hubbers would share , in detail , what they  re doing and what is working. Also can some one help me with RSS??? how does it work..what URL can you put in..one from another blogsite??

            My traffic is mixed too ,probably more fro the USA given the population etc.
            But surprised me that a big part of Asia is active too (whether they click is another story).
            
            
            Timely advice I was given though was to make sure you have a good selection of 'Evergreen Hubs'..ie..Christmas,Easter-Traditional type celebrations etc, or Fashion,Beauty ,Food,etc..articles that wont date easily...

   $50 a day???  That would be $1500 a month.  The front page only boasts about somebody making $1200 a month.  If there are, more power to them.  As for the rest of us, or at least me, I have earned one payout and am scheduled for another this month.  And google money has just about disappeared at this point.  But then again, I don't really do this for the money so don't work all that hard at it.

   If I were to make an educated guess, I would say that the hubbers who are making $50.00 per day have ben here long enough that they have written close to or over 1000 hubs. They  write several new hubs or update their older hubs each week. Say, 3 or 4 hubs per week are published.  They do not publish topics that are obscure  or niche only that would attract a small audience-they probably publish highly researched topics as well. And they have near or over 1000 followers because they are wonderful writers.  and they are likely the writers who also choose at least some hubs to be on topics that have clickable ads.

      I suspect they actually DO choose niche topics as they are the easiest to get ranked for in the top ten. If you don't believe me, write a hub on say 'medicine' and then write on on 'honey from pink bees' and see which gets ranked higher .. Of course, it does have to be a topic that gets probably a minimum of 200 searches per month and would have reasonable ads .. and each individual one wouldn't make a fortune but write lots of them and ......

         yes, I see what you mean. I meant  that there are people talking post-subdomain of narrowing the catogories  on which you write, as supposed to writing on a variety of topics. Say if I only wrote about mystery authors and nothing else to create my brand. Thanks fo rthe further information.

      Some have written over 1000 hubs, but there are some that make >$50/day with 100 or so hubs. I could give names, but then they would have to kill me. It really depends on traffic. Write good hubs people want to read and are searching for and the readers will come. More readers mean more Amazon sales, Google clicks, and, of course, HP revenue.
      
      As a side note: I had a hard time determining if Google ads or Googe ads/HP ads were the better money maker. Now I am firmly in the combo camp (Google ads/HPads). Hubs that get great traffic but few clicks really smoke with HP ads because they are based on views rather than clicks. A handful of hubs would do better with Google ads alone and at some point I may move those hubs or write similar future hubs to yet another persona.
      
      Keep writing good hubs people. A lot of great writers left HP in a huff before things turned around after the Google slap. A steady hand wins the race. Write what people want to read and do it better than everyone else. Same applies to print media. Editors want a fresh angle. Google eventually sends quality to the top.

         I had the same experience and came to the same conclusion - having HP Ads switched on gives me a higher income overall, but wouldn't it be nice if we could switch it off selectively, for those Hubs that would do better on Adsense.

    Any author making that sort of money who wrote about it on here would face an army of copiers scanning and ripping off their work.
    
    I believe there are probably some people who get seriously large volumes of traffic.  They are very much the minority.
    
    However, just having that belief is enough to keep to me going.
    
    In fact, if I were totally honest, I'd write for nothing anyway.  And being honest... I do write for virtually nothing.
    
    Now if the question was how many make fifty cents a day...

       Alot of writers do that by creating a second or more accounts. If you don't tell anyone the names of those other accounts, it goes a long way with being protected, cheating from others is reduced but it's not 100% foolproof either.

    These top search queries for hubpages identified by Alexa give some clues as to what kinds of subjects get big traffic here- it really is no more than a clue though. Try ranking for any these phrases and you will find it very tough going!
    
    Also high traffic doesn't always mean big income. There may be no interest from HP advertisers in a page. Adsense might be the 5c a click level. It might be impossible to monetize through amazon etc

                All it means for sure is that's where most of the traffic that comes to this site is going.  If they don't have any hubs then people must be checking their profile over and over again... maybe because they comment a lot or talk in the forums.

    It would be great to get anywhere near that level however agreee there needs to be a degree of privacy to ensure content doesn't simply get copied to steal traffic from those particular hubs.
    
    I'd love to get up to that point personally however after 3 months i'm simply happy that my work is getting viewed from Google on a daily basis which I beleive is the first part of the battle

    I am hoping to be at $1 a day by the time I have 100 hubs.  That would make me happy and I am on track for it.
    
    But long tail does seem to be the key for me.  Only a handful of my hubs get 10 or more visits a day and they are all on very obscure topics but rank well for that three work combination.

    I'm now averaging over $1.00 a day with less than 15 followers and about 20 articles.  This is what I've learned if you're focused on generating income:
    
    1.  Write only DIY (Do It Yourself) quality articles. Provide detail that is unique and difficult to find in manuals and Google searches.
    2.  Link your articles to Amazon products needed in the DIY article.  Do the Amazon shopping for the reader then post the product to your article.
    3.  Be very detailed in you DIY article.  Post many edited photos to guide the reader and make the reader understand how to do it with confidence.
    4.  Do a Google search on a subject matter and see what is already out there.  If the existing quality is poor, your DIY will eventually get to page 1 of a Google search.
    5.  Constantly keep updating you existing DIY articles with new ideas and thoughts to make the job easier for the DIY reader.
    6.  Staying focused on a specific subject matter will make you the 'go to guy' .

          Last November I had some brilliant days with Adsense. Hubads wasn't going then. I don't earn as much with both Hubads and Adsense as I used to with Adsense alone. Tried switching Hubads off, but my Adsense earnings have never returned, despite increased views.

          I'm not that impressed to be honest. I have never seen a real actual backlink appearing and as a full member now I can see where the links are going. Last time I checked none of the sites have a PR yet. It's a good idea, all the same. Whether it will ever work will be known somewhere down the line. As for the S word you used, it is free and part of their program.

             Congratulations on the 100 hubberscore, I don't want to jinx things but things are looking good...Yesterday was slightly quieter than the great week I've been having until I had 2 massive clicks from a project outside HP..Fingers crossed we're final going to get the earnings we deserve.

    $50 a day would be quite nice and I suppose it would be a goal to aim for. Currently I earn $5 - $7 a day sometimes less, but I know the secret now and will be releasing an ebook priced $1,997 if anyone is interested lol

       2000 on a bad day. Usually nearer 3000.  I work on the theory of publishing more and more, eventually I will have 10,000 hubs each getting 1 view a day!

    The list of the sub domain profiles mean nothing except the traffic going to the profiles...so what about each individual hubpage? the amount of traffic going to extremely popular hubpages would be separate URL's....

       The traffic to the subdomain is also included for each individual hub too, since all of your hubs also are listed under that subdomain URL.
       
       Like if you see you're getting traffic from google.com, it's definitely not from just google.com... there's nothing on google.com to link to any other site. 
       
       But your stats will only show you google.com to show you the main domain it's coming from.  You can dig deeper to see specific pages too, but on the surface they show you all the traffic to (or from) the domain or subdomain.

    How do you get traffic to come through google? Time? Writing more hubs so they might show up there? I checked my traffic sources. They're hubpages, my own URL, and Facebook. No google.

    I have 38 hubs and my Ad Program earnings tend to be around .30 to .40 per day - so about a penny per hub, I guess.  My worst day was .12, and my best day was .71.  I made .63 on the 4th, probably because I had a new hub about McDonald's that had close to 200 hits on the first day.
    
    I've noticed that even on days when I have a lot of hits and clicks, my earnings are still low.  I'm writing on topics that don't have high-paying ads.
    
    The top earners may only have a handful of hubs (I don't know), but they are probably on topics such as law or finance.  Just guessing, though.  When EHow was still around, I earned well over $100 on a computer-related article.

       I think you need to get about 100 page views a day and you'll start seeing small sums of money in your account. 4 weeks isn't very long. Just write more hubs and be patient.
       
       Are you adding your links on She Told Me, Redgage etc. That will get you more views.

    How many hubs had you written, when you received your first payout?   How long had you been hubbing?  How many followers did you have.  All of the above is curiousity; I am brand new, and have no idea of what to expect.  I don't even know if I have monetized my hub.  This business can be overwhelming!

       Victoria, the $100 payout is for AdSense (US), $50.00 for HP ads.
       It all takes time. There are a lot of hubs which give helpful advice. Some hubbers write full-time, but many don't. Everyone has their own experience, and now with sub-domains, your writing and topic choices are your own brand, so quality is imperative.

    I'm curious about that, too, Carolyn. Your account has to reach $100 for thefirst pay out, right? I guess it depends on how hard ya work it. It we write a few hubs a week, and read and comment on other hubs some and get somewhat involved--does anybody have an idea? I've been actively hubbing for two weeks, have 10 hubs, and earned 45 cents this week in four days after my adsense was activated. At least I know it's doing something....

             Thanks for that Uninvited writer, that's good to know. Thing is I have looked at the work of hubbers who have  many many followers. Some have excellent work: well researched, original, well written, good pics etc, but some are very poorly written, no Google keywords, headlines that would not work in SEO and very obscure topics..so there seems to be an inconsistency in relation to followers and quality of work which makes me think that there is something besides writing quality and original copy that attracts followers.
             Anyone enlighten me?
