How much time did you spend to earn your first $50 pay out?
I am referring to the Hubpages ad program.
I got it around 4 months in. Time spent? Way too much for $50!! Probably 100 hours (between writing, posting, reading, commenting, etc.). But... I'm still getting residuals on those, so that's good.
Around 20 hubs, I met the goal at 2 months but got paid at the end of the third month. I don't know how many hours I had in I'm hear just to write for enjoyment the money is more of a perk.
It took me three years then suddenly things took off, just after I joined the Hub Pages Advertising program. Now it looks like I will get a payout every three-four months with the interval decreasing. Long may that last.
How much time spent? A couple of hundred hours in "spare" time.
But I went into this for the long haul so I now spend an average of 5 hours a week on promotion, tweaking hubs, commenting etc.
However not all articles are intended to attract ad revenue. Some are hyperlinked on my CV.
I'll let you know when it comes. ;^) I started 3 weeks ago, have 12 hubs, and ... about 2 bucks in the account. About a nickel an hour. I know, I know, it takes a long time, just being facetious.
Seriously, it's difficult to make money writing except for a few. If you don't like writing then you are going to be disappointed earning 25 cents an hour, if that. I mean even the top hubbers here have been at it for years and they're barely above federal poverty level.
3 weeks making 2 bucks? You means around 2.67 per month?
How bout you Island Tropical when was your first payout?
With twelve hubs, you've already accumulated $2? This is quick isn't it? I thought people, on average, take much longer.
I reached my first payout at 4 months and thereafter monthly payout. I spent a lot of time researching and writing as well as commenting.
If everything stays on it's current course I believe it will happen about February or March of next year.
Traffic is starting to increase so it may be sooner but it is hard to say.
I've been here since April.
Island Tropic. No, I haven't made the first pay out yet. I believe that I'll reach 50 by February or March of next year if not sooner.
It took me two years and 32 hubs, but I was quite casual with my hub habits, only publishing when I had the time and mood. Now at the end of this month I will get my second payout, so I'm excited.
I have been here almost 4 months with 16 hubs and have not yet reached payout. I should reach it in about 4 more months. Although, if I wrote more hubs I could get there sooner. I don't want to do the math to figure out how much per hour I am making because I know if is a mere cents so far. However, I enjoy writing here and I know that over time the passive residual income will add up.
It took me about 5 months to reach my first payout. Then I skipped a month and then made payout the following month. I've made monthly payouts ever since. Thank goodness!
Like some of the other here, I'm in it for the long haul. I hope to make online writing my full time profession over the next 4-5 years.
I haven't reached the payment as yet, but m yearnings look promising soon
I have not reached it yet. I use this platform differently. It is not about the money for me. It is about the community and the writing.
Took a while as i have not been updating that much or writing new posts.
You have to write lots and lots of articles with the knowledge that it will take time to see any earnings.
what you can do is bookmark them all on digg, and submit to social media discussions. That does help speed up the views and of course earnings.
My first one was around 6 months and I should hopefully have a second before 12 months. My average writing speed is about 5-6 hubs new month.
It's really about how many articles you can write each week. Some Hub members write one or more articles a day. And some Hub members may want to write 3 or more articles a week, which ever is best for you. The time you spend driving traffic to your Hubs is one of the most important things to do. Hope this helps.
I only started using hub earning program about a couple of months ago because i was getting way too many clicks on my adsense recently , much more than the page views should get, so I thought someone is trying to fix me up and there was real chance of loosing my adsense account. In last two months I have earned about 36$ but i have only put up one or two new hubs in last two months and I dont even log in daily.
Well I joined 11months ago and finally this month my balance is above $50!!! woohooo!
But to be honest I did not log into hub pages for six of those months as I had no PC access...
So 5months work, (30ish hubs before my break and so far another 45 after!)
I signed up a long time ago, but didn't start writing until a year ago. I have over 100 hubs and I am due to get my first payout this month. This was without writing SEO oriented content or spending many extra hours playing the Google algorithm game. I'll throw in another hundred hubs over time and keep updating and marketing the existing ones.
I had about 73 hubs and was at about month 14. I reached over $50 in June of this year and got the payout in July. Then in July I got my first payout for people buying things from my Amazon capsules. So things were pretty good these last couple of months. I think I will next my next payout in about 2 months. It seems like I am breaking my own personal records every month.
I think my payout timing was on par with how much time I put into HubPages. It is basically a hobby right now. I am at about 17 months and 75 (soon to be 76) hubs. But had I published more and promoted my writings, I am sure I, like others, could have had a payout within 6 months.
Mine was actually thanks to being an Apprentice. If it wasn't for what I've learnt and the bonus program I think I'd still be waiting a long time!
I started out making about $3 per month in my first few months~ but I wasn't particularly active.

FYI, it's a violation of the TOS for both adsense and HUBPages to discuss earnings publicly. Doing so could get you terminated or suspended from the program in which case, you will have no earnings to discuss :-).
I'm not sure how long I was here, but the second month the Hubpage Ad Program came out I made payout. My earnings took off when I had 70 or 80 hubs. Most of those hubs earn me money every month now, so it was well worth the time.
Now I make a nice payout from the Ad Program every month. I think you need to learn from experience what topics get traffic and then get your number of hubs up in those topics.
Just pennies come in for most people at first, but the income should just keep growing as you learn more.
I can't remember how many hubs I had when I made my first pay out. But, I do know that from the moment I made it a goal, it took three months of working four hours a day to write hubs, as well as read other's hubs, plus participate in other hub related activities, such as Q & A, forums, and hub hopping.
When I first signed up for HubPages, I was lazy. I wrote a hub and let it sit, generating one cent a month. But, something made me realize that if I kicked it into gear, I could possibly earn some real money. So, I set a goal to make pay out in two months. I started writing like crazy, popping out hubs and doing all the other hub stuff. My earnings shot up like a clown out of a cannon. It was the third month that I actually received money in my PayPal account. Since the first pay out, there was only one time (when I went on vacation) that I did not receive pay out. Otherwise, I expect and continuously receive money in my account. I won't say how much, because that is against HubPages guidelines.
Now, I spend about an hour each day, nursing the hubs I have already written - revising where needed and responding to comments. Additionally, I spend about an hour each day in the hub community. On average now, I try to write one hub a week, but I don't stress out if I only write a hub every other week.
I've received a value that's worth more than $50 when I joined HubPages. The writing and ability to meet new people and learn about new things has payed huge dividends. I sometimes am astonished that I'm getting paid money for doing something I love.
I am almost there and I have been on hubpages for 5 weeks. Another week and I should reach the $50 payout.
I'm just curious, not dissing you, but how do you get a hubscore of 1?
Great question, I was wondering the same thing. From following 11,000 people maybe.
He followed 11524 people in a short six weeks. Thats how his hubscore reached 1. Robert Erich wrote a hub about this a while back. If you just go around following random people or newbies your hubscore plumits rapidly. Robert had a 1 for a while too.
I'm tickled, because I actually think it's kind of cool to have a score of 1. It's kind of a bold statement. Honestly, I'd rather have a score of 1 than 100. Message: "I'm me!" So cool!
I think also having zero hubs doesn't help your score. I'm not sure exactly how scores are calculated though.
No money. It has been 4 years now... but I am not counting the hours as I love to write and find the reading very interesting here too. I am still working on the $50 pay out.
I've been on here for two months, have written 41 hubs, participate in the community, have almost 4,000 views and won a hubnugget. I am nowhere near payout yet. I marvel at people who are on just for a few weeks and are able to make a payout. Makes me think I am missing something?? In any case, I do very much enjoy the writing and the community, and hope this might lead to something bigger and brighter, so that in itself is a reward, too!
I've never seen anyone do it in just a few weeks, you are actually right on schedule, self promotion on other sites is the key to earning faster. Being seen by google is the key to earning consistently. Following others who follow back helps too
Thanks DS Duby. By "self promotion" do you mean fb and twitter? Just want to make sure I am not missing the boat!! Any advice is much appreciated!
Yeah I do facebook, twitter, redgage and reddit. I also submit links to my hubs to google web crawler and bing crawler to get my sights rolling with them faster. Reddit is my best performing social site but make sure you read their rules
Thanks again DS Duby! I must admit, I never heard of those other sites you mention and don't know how todo the google or bing crawler, but I will look into it and learn. So nice of you to share the info!
If you need any help feel free to ask reddit can be a bit tricky but at times I've received 3000 views from there in one day and others maybe only 50 but they are worth it once you understand their rules
I'm still working on mine. I'll let you know how long when I finally get there. Have over 50 hubs and been at it for 5 months. Find if I miss a few days, I lose money
When I actually started trying to earn money was about March of 2012, and I earned my first payout in June, receiving it in July. I've been on HubPages for 2 years, but was not active until March. Then, due to first trimester sickness/fatigue, I was dormant from July-Sept, but my earnings were still higher than April. I believe when I begin to be active again, I will see monthly payouts.
The changes I made which made a difference in my traffic and earnings are shared in a hub, "Five Tips For Increasing Hub Revenue and Hub Views".
Best of success~
It took me 9 months with the Ad Program. Though with AdSense when I first started writing on Hubpages it was a year and a half
Still working towards it, hopefully by the end of the year..

There were quite a few hubbers that joined around the same time as I did, and we've lost touch alomg the way.I've been here 12 weeks now, and my head is crammed full of information, and I think I am even more confused and excited than I was at the beginning.Just wondering how the other not-so-new...

There are a large number of writers contributing in hubpages. Depending upon the quality and popularity of their work they must be receiving the payments from hubpages.I want to know how much time it took for your first payment? If you share this information it will be a good guideline...

Hey everyone!I wrote an article 4 months ago, and submitted it to LetterPile. It's been pending since then. I've submitted to niche sites before but they seemed to accept or reject them within 1 to 2 weeks. Is this normal or is there some other problem? This is the article I...
