An American Icon has passed, which has shocked the world, what are your thoughts feelings emotions?
I am sad. I wish the media would shut up though and just leave him be already in other words... "just beat it".
Michael was truly a unique pop icon in our entertainment hungry world. He opened new door for young artists like Usher,Chris Brown,Genuine,Ne-Yo,etc. Personally I'm not saddened with his death because it seemed as if his run was coming to a close...I couldn't picture him being 60 or 70 years old...he was a great artist and will be mourned for generations to come
I just read this news on hubpages and I am very shocked and sad. He was a God of Dancing.........but he will live in our hearts forever..............
Despite all his faults etc he was part of me growing up, he was magical, original and a true genius, I for one will miss him loads but his music will live forever.
R.I.P Jacko !
I adored him growing up. I lost a little interest over the years due to his unpredictability and strangeness, but I've always respected him as an artist. My 10 and 11 year olds have been watching his videos and they really like him too, regardless of the rumors and jokes going around.
I remember being like 8 years old trying to get all the steps to "Thriller" down pat. I remember being at the skating rink when I first saw the video. All the kids were hooked. We got red leather jackets covered in zippers, and thought we were the sh**. I am sad about the loss, because I had a lot of good times because of him. He did change popular music forever. Hate him, or love him, personally. He is still the King of Pop.
I've written and said so much on this. Its been a week now, so my thoughts at the moment are with his Children. I hope they get through this time with a lot of support from the family and also hope there are no fights over who gets custody of them. They should just resolve it amicably.
As for that precious man MJ - May his soul RIP.
I had been a huge fan for so long... My first concert was The Jackson Five Victory tour at Comisky Park, Chicago, when I was a teen.... I will admit, I could perform Thriller to a tee at one point! lol He is truly an Icon! RIP
Somehow it was always hard to imagine him living to be an old man. It's sad for his family, but I'm kind of surprised he lived to be 50.
It is sad, I am shocked and in disbelief!! The media is going to beat it to death and the family needs to mourn.
In spite of his weirdness , there Is no doubt that he was one of the premeire entertainers of our time . His title as the King of Pop was well deserved because he was ! The Jackson 5 was part of my childhood!
Wrote a memorial hub dedicated to him:
http://hubpages.com/hub/Michael-Jackson … morial-Hub
Can not believe it, I have only just found out from this forum, been working and not seen the news. No way is he dead, Im so shocked, Loved this guy, brought up on his music, still listen to today. Dam shame Pop has lost its King, RIP Michael Jackson.
I have no words. I just woke up at 2am for no reason, turned on CNN,and there were the words in bold. No wonder the world around just didnt feel right. God knows we've judged him harshly, I've judged him harshly. But who didnt love him...
Well at least all those Hubbers who have already published Micheal Jackson hubs might flog a few CDs via their eBay/Amazon widgets.
Every cloud...
The only thing that sells better than sex is death.
'Ka-Ching!'
Yep. If people are looking to write articles to earn off of this, I doubt they will! Think of the thousands and thousands of sources being published right now. Good luck.
Of course, if you have an actual tribute hub that is dedicated to his life, I think that's different. I know he still has a lot of fans that will be grieving this surprising death.
The only thng I really have to say Is I remember watching the Jackson 5 on the Ed Sullivan show when I was a kid . I remember buying "ABC " on vinyl . I remember Michael Jackson videos on a new channel called MTV . This guy Is part of the soundtrack of my life !
That is so true, he is a part of the soundtrack of my life as well. Grew up with Beat it, Billie Jean, and Oh! We Are the World can still bring tears to my eyes.
Michael Jackson passes on. He left behind a legacy. He will be remembered for his huge contribution to the music industry. He is very popular even in Singapore, Asia where I live. We will miss one great and creative artiste in the music world. R.I.P. Michael.
Tony, you said it, man. Michael Jackson is definitely part of the soundtrack of my life.
From The Jackson Five in the early 70s to Michael dominating the charts in the 80s -- he is (sorry, was) amazingly talented.
I tried to tune out of the weirdness of his life. Even with so many personal foibles the negative could never overshadow the greatness of Michael the King of Pop.
As an aside: I wonder if he will be burined with his glove?
Gosh I just learnt about this on Hubpages here just now. I am shocked!
I do think that the man had some very real musical talent, and he was a top entertainer no doubt, even though he was a whacko otherwise. But must not speak ill of the dead so.
As for my thoughts about MJ: http://hubpages.com/hub/Michael-Jackson-Black-or-White (Just saw, this one is showing two little red triangles next to it for the very first time)
I find it hard to mourn for a pedophile. Face it without his money he would have been sitting in a prison cell for a long time. sorry, no tears here. Besides the guy gave me the creeps.
He was not convicted of the child molestation charges so to call him a pedophile is wrong. There are a great many people in the world who are wrongly accused and labeled as pedophiles. A very good friend of mine went through a similar situation. His sister-in-law's daughter accused him of touching her. My friend was arrested and charged with "indecency with a minor". The girl admited after he was arrested that it didn't really happen, she did it for attention. She thought the focus would be on her and because he was a member of the family she didn't think anything would happen. But the great state of Texas has a no drop law. So he ended up on probation. It was very devestating to his life. Michael Jackson will forever be a legend. I firmly believe he was wrongly accused and it had to do with his money.
He was different, he was ecentric, but he WAS NOT a child molester and pedophile. Whether you liked him or not, it is wrong to speak ill of the deceased.
I grew up watching him and he is my favorite singer, bar none. I think it is tragic that he never experience a normal childhood and it did effect him greatly. He will be missed and there will never be another performer like him. I just wish the press would back off and let his family mourn in peace. I disagree with all the negative postings on the blogs and other sites that are going up about all the celebrities. There is no reason for all the negativity.
Michael Jackson was one of the greatest pop/rock icons of all time. It is my personal opinion that he was never guilty of any of the crimes that people tried to levy upon him. Rather he was a victim of the people who surrounded him. You could tell by the way he spoke and the way he acted off stage and in the public eye, that he was a very gentle, almost childlike and naive, and was incapable of these crimes. These people tried to elevate their own careers through his fame and tried to stuff their pockets through his hard work and wealth. He was a star in five decades, crowned off by the MTV years. "Beat It" and "Thriller" were the templates for all the music videos that were ever produced. God Bless You Michael and Rest in Peace my friend.
As a performer, I don't think there will be another to match his achievements.
As for what happened off the stage, we'll never truly know if Michael was truly guilty, or just a naive man peltered by those who saw a chance to pander toward his oddities to make a fast buck.
He deserves to be mourned for all of the great things he has done, and if he has done anything wrong in his life, then we need not judge him further ... as that judgment is now being assessed by a higher power.
IMHO, the greatest crime that ever happened in Michael's life was the fact that he never had a chance to enjoy his childhood (as he was constantly on the road performing and was rarely allowed to step outside that role). As such, need we all wonder why he chose to act childish and odd at times? If anything, I think he might have been trying to live out the childhood he never had.
I tend to agree, I think that he was sued and harangued because he was wealthy not that he got away because he was wealthy.
Hope he finds the peace he's been looking for. He was an artist, and graced the world with his creations.
This is really sad. After all that he's been through I was hoping for a major comeback. I hope he finds peace.
I can only say he was a great performer, other than that, very odd and psychotic, bipolar at the most.......
'Cause this is thriller, thriller night
And no one's gonna save you from the beast about strike
You know it's thriller, thriller night
You're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller tonight
Rip. MJ
~thranax~
I found out while working out at the Y this afternoon. Some teeny bopper using their cell phone WHILE SWIMMING told someone else that Jacko was dead. I thought it was a kid prank thing, then I thought, hey, who ever thought this perv would last this long?
Perv or not, it's sad how his life played out and where ever he is at, he is no where that people can jeer and redicule him.
I'm shocked because he was so young - a day older than me. I remember growing up and the Jackson 5 was popular, then I remember my sons being fans of his especially around the time of Thriller. One of my sons even had a red jacket just like his..lol..
I think he led a spectacular but also tragic life. I can't pass judgment on what happened with those boys - I'm not sure if he was a pedophile or an extremely naive odd man when it came to children. He was a very eccentric but incredibly gifted entertainer.
It's sad and I feel bad for his family. His sister looked really stricken, and his brother visibly distraught. Very sad.
I agree with you Dorsi, I think I am no one to pass judgement on what did or did not happen with those boys. I was shocked to learn that he died at just 50 years of age. But then, like a lot of others here, i did not see him getting old either.
I don't care about michael jackson personally but I think his death forces us to reflect upon our own lives and the times that have passed. He was with us as far as most can remember. He provided a soundtrack and culture for us and it wasn't really about him as it was about how we were, dancing, jamming, being part of a universal phenomena, if you didn't have the Thriller album and didn't know how to moonwalk, you just weren't with it.
I think he did some damage in the most profane way(the circumstances are too great) and if I found out, or that he even may have molested any of my kids I would have ripped him apart with my own hands.
His life is all that anyone could ever dream of but the tragedy of it is none of us would have wanted it. His loneliness, inner demons destroyed him long before this day and I am sure the illusion that he is not a supreme power despite the mania that occurred around him broke his soul.
He goes on to be judged by someone else now. I don't want that entity's job right now considering how much of a paradox Jackson is, both the symbol of innocent ambitions to make the children of the world smile and the hideous secrets that may be his eternal damnation.
Hats off to your observation Raider! I have never agreed that much with anybody ever before. Couldn't be judged and said better.
Beautifully put!
And whether he was a Thriller, was Bad, or Dangerous; he's now History.
Kudos Raider, who can outdo this best of comments? so true
I feel as if the world is a little incomplete now that he is gone. He was major and essential to everyone. It is hard to even believe that all of this is happening. No one will ever place his shoes and he will never be forgotten. MJ is part of history and history is always forever more even when it is gone. We love you Micheal Jackson. R.I.P.
If you did not see the coverage on CNN and Larry King Live, you may find other's reactions at:
http://hubpages.com/hub/Michael-Jackson … ll-Move-On
My husband's family is still good friends with them and you are also welcome to leave comments on my hub http://hubpages.com/_dwn4bbs4rxf1/hub/M … usic-Pics. I will revise the links tomorrow, but thought that a tribute is truly necessary.
Michael is finally at rest and in peace. No matter how strange he was, his music was a gift to all of us. I am from the Jackson 5, Billie Jean Era, and still play his songs to this day. No matter what the media portrays of him, alive or dead, they can never knock him for his original and amazing talents. I can only believe that it was truly his time to go, and that his legend will live on.
I think his passing and the passing of others recently should make us all realize that life is short and we have to get off of our butts and live life to it's fullest before our clock runs out to.
R.I.P. Micheal
A flawed genius and despite the bad publicity in his past he will always have a place in the Cabin Girls heart.
R.I.P you Crazy Diamond x
RIP Michael Jackson. Part of our lives, whether we wanted him to be or not
I have every song of his...... I love him, he had no chance in life he was too talented, I cannot believe he is dead...
I used to think nobody liked me when I was young, and a friend bought me his single called Ben about his white rat, everyone called me Bren.... and my mum used to sing it to me but change the words to Bren... HE WAS SOOOOOOO GIFTED... R.I.P.
Everyone who comes in this world has to go. World is a stage and we all are artists performing our roles. Mr. Jackson was a great dancer who made history and we will remember him for the rest of our life.
Absolute legend, as soon as i heard the news i was in a state of shock!!! It is one of those memories and times where u will always remember exactly where u were when u heard the news
His songs will live on forever, greatest artist of all time and i hope all the narrow minded people who accuse Michael of such crap and send jokes around get what's coming to them!!
Can not believe it.
He will never be forgotten!!! R.I.P
WTF!!??? How come I didn't know about this?! NOOOOOOO!!!! And he is just 50 years old?! I feel awful for the kids. I wonder if he left them anything good to inherit...hmmm
The world's best entertainer,Michael Jackson! No equals!
I love all his songs.
I have been a huge fan of MJ and he would remain in our hearts forever through his memorable songs.
I am just listening to one of his oldies but goodies: One day in your life. The fine entertainer that he was often eclipsed one very important aspect of his life: what a very good singer he was. This song is so well sung I have to admit to being a little moist eyed at his passing.
Hi,
This is what happens to many if not all the celebrities the World over. For a layperson, they are an object of adoration but when it comes to their personal lives ,we come to know the sad part of their being. Only pills and found in Jackson's body ?! Fame at what cost? suffering, pain and agony?! He made many happy world over. Let us pray in silence for a minute for Jackson , the undisputable.
East-west pro ( India)
A huge loss to the world of music, condolences for those left behind.
Michael Jackson - FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS ...R.I.P King of Pop
I wonder if we will have Michael Jackson sightings...like we have had for "Elvis" from now on...?
What a novel thought! Quite probably I'm sure.
Then again probably not. Who in the world looks like MJ; NO ONE would get mistaken for him; the later, unimproved version that is.
It is a loss. There have been many issues with MJ over the years and we'll never know the whole story. He was a lot more complex than he seemed but you can't deny his amazing talent. It's a shame we will never see the come back concerts.

My Thoughts: Greatest Entertainer of All Times. Even thought there are lots of controversies associated with him, I find him the most down to earth man.

Why are people still fascinated with Michael Jackson?I grew up loving Michael Jackson, when he seemed to be a normal black man. When he turned white, wore shin guards and started sleeping with little boys (my opinion), I lost interest. He ended up a little, shriveled, drug addicted...

As a musician and music lover, I have grappled with an answer to this question since MJ's sad passing, if there ever will be one.To me, good music entertains us. But great music must inspire and fuel passion within us. It may even change the way we view the world and hopefully for the better. For...
