Exciting news! We've set the date for the first official HubCamp!
When: October 6th, 2010 - 6:00-8:30pm Where: The Golden Gate Ballroom of the Serrano Hotel (directions) What: A seminar on how to become a better hubber and improve your online writing skills. The event is free, and Paul Edmondson will be speaking!
For those not familiar with San Francisco, and that you have to know God in oder to find parking, the nearest garage for those not taking the bus/ train is a block away and it's $11.00 for 3 hours. The hotel itself will also do Valet event parking for the same rate + gratuity.
Hypnotherapy can work if you want it to. I woman I work with was so bad she had to be sedated before she could get on a plane. Then she tried hypnotherapy and is wondering why she didn't do it earlier. She loves flying now.
I wish I could attend, but it's a little far. I am sure this will be successful and Hubpages will then decide they need to come to Australia as well. (hint hint) I wonder if there'll be a live webinar for this event? If not, the recording posted somewhere, if the event is recorded. Would love to participate somehow.
I am having an operation in September and can't fly for two years afterwards... so thats a firm no. The exchange rate, which used to be firmly on the side of the British, is currently poop.... when I was getting $2 for each £1 I have considered going to a new place in America each year.
Will you be filming this or making some powerpoint slides or something? Would love to benefit from this despite non-attendance. How about a couple of webinars? Or YouTube tutorials? Always up for seeing if there is anything to improve my performance.
Bristol is great for everyone - flights from Ireland, Scotland and not far from Wales - great infrastructure with the M5/M4 connections. Not too far from London, Birmingham. Brilliant train and bus links from Manchester (and flights too). Bristol is a fine place to visit too - very cosmopolitan and cultured and it isnt far from Bath (very historic!).
You dont get bogged down with the traffic situation - it is actually a joy to drive to Bristol!!!
I'll be there, MM-it will be great to meet another Californian! I am incredibly excited! I just have to figure out how to get across the Sierras without flying! I'm getting on that today-lots of phone calls to Greyhound and Amtrak. And the seminar's being held in a Ballroom at the Serrano, for Pete's sake-how swanky can it possibly get?
Hay Hubbers have a great time, if I lived in your country and in California I certainly would make an attempt to be there. Hope we see some PDF's published here at the Hubs when you all get back. Enjoy the show.
`I`m Dinah new to hubpages, i read that a trip is coming up, well i would like to ask you a question or two, if you have a minute.
I would like some ideas on how to get more traffic to my blog, so can earn more money, not that i`ve started earning any yet, so would you help me out, i just chose a name, not really knowing who to ask, hope you don`t mind that i picked you, ok.
Jane-- Did I know you were a Sacramento hubber? I'm thinking of taking Amtrak down AND staying overnight (the better to party down with my homegirl Lorlie). But if you want to drive together, let's talk! MM
Hi Ladies! I checked yesterday and found that the rates for the Holiday Inn and the Serrano Hotel are the same! $159- for 2 people. The Serrano's my choice for sure-so chic! I'll be taking Amtrak, too, but it may have to be an Amtrak bus, since I'm coming from Reno. Still checking... Later, girls!
I just saw the email on this a couple of hours ago. It's a workday for me, but if I can arrange it, I plan on being there. I think I live about 40 minutes from there. And LORIE, I'd really love to meet you!! Sounds like a great event!
We talked about doing that, but we thought it would be ultimately more effective to offer more polished materials via our Learning Center after the event has passed. We might utilize Skype or something similar for future events though
Wow, I just joined HubPages today (but I'm not new to freelance writing) and would LOVE to go to something like this. If you planned one in Lubbock or Amarillo (TX) or possibly Oklahoma City - I'd be there! Maybe even in Dallas....... depends on the time of year.... Anyway this sounds awe-some.
Simone, are you handing out airline tickets for hubbers with 11 hubs in 5 months, I mean that is serious work! Wish I could attend, but wish you bundles of fun, [I won't tell a sole if a ticket ends up as a e ticket in email-promise]
...ha ha...come on....i guess i didn't look at it as 'outing'....was looking for shots of all of you having fun too!...and looking serious, taking notes and all that...writing away, concentrating......wish i could go....
I tried to make this happen since I am not TOO far away in Portland, OR. But, the cheapest flight I could get is (wait for ittt......) $400. WHAT THE? Usually it's half that, at most. Even Southwest and Alaskan stink. I am so disappointed because I really want to come. I am still checking though.
I was there in Silicon Valley (Sunnyvale)by the same date last month. In fact, I wanted to visit HP office at SF. But, unfortunately I could not meet it. Now, I am back in India. Even though I wish to attend the Great Event, I could not. If HP can arrange for some online (LIVE) streaming of the event, hubbers like me will be definitely benefitted. Hoping to get the good news announced through officially here, soon! All the best for the event!
Oh, sorry we missed you! We probably won't be able to do anything live this time around, but we will be arranging more HubCamps in the future, and we'll also be sure to offer lots of helpful online companion materials
Sorry SunSeven! I wasn't trying to stonewall you- I have just been out of the forums, haha! Please don't hate meeeeee T________T I did answer your other questions though XD - better late than never, no?

Tell us about an event that made you wish you had a camera. For example, once while walking home I saw a hawk land on someone's lawn. As I got closer I realized it had a pigeon crushed beneath it's claws and I though,...
