I was thinking of taking a nap this afternoon but now I am afraid to hit the hammock. A hubpages/bubblews merger: what a nightmare!

It's time we "got on with it." I'm happy that the transition went relatively smooth, although I'm still working on a few old pieces. I want to be a respected Hubber, instead of an ex-Squid.

Anyone have an idea why I still receive traffic from Squidoo?

    1. Arachnea profile image65
Arachneaposted 9 years agoin reply to this

The redirect. Anywhere on the net where the old links were used someone clicking on it will be redirected to HP.

shellys-spaceposted 9 years agoin reply to this

Arachnea: Thanks for the reply about the redirect. I have been "trying" to weed through all my Pinterest boards and edit to reflect my HP URL. But, if another Pinner used my Squidoo lens URL, that would account for the traffic still coming from Squidoo.

What drives you to believe Bubblews is about to bust? I have approximately 13 posts on Bubblews. However, I sure hope HP would buy Triond. The site is so slow it’s ridiculous!

    1. Marisa Wright profile image87
Marisa Wrightposted 9 years agoin reply to this

Bubblews has drastically cut back its pay rates (probably because it's previous generosity was not sustainable), and it has changed some of its features.   That's likely to cause an exodus from the site.  Google already hates it, and it relies on internal traffic to sell advertising - so if it suffers a drastic loss of members, it will lose advertisers and ultimately fold.

  9. Carola Finch profile image92
    Carola Finchposted 9 years ago

I am also on Bubblews.  I think the changes I have seen are positive overall.  If there is an exodus, let's hope it is of people who think I need to hear about their personal problems or don't want to check their work for mistakes.

    1. Marisa Wright profile image87
Marisa Wrightposted 9 years agoin reply to this

Carola, Bubblews is not a writing site.  It's a social networking site like Facebook.  It makes its money by selling ads to advertisers based on the amount of social interaction on the site, so mindless chat is exactly what it wants!

Don't mean to be a party pooper, but I just can't find any glee in seeing another site go down. There are people on Bubblews who are longtime friends, who ARE good writers, but when Squidoo went belly-up, they had to find a place to write to make money. Not all of them write mindless drivel, some of their posts are actually pretty good. The only reason I know this is because I became a member, never wrote one word there, other than comments on a bubble I felt deserved it. In any case, I can't find humor in someone's distress. So I guess that makes me pretty much a party pooper after all!

Nancy, I do not take pleasure in seeing good sites go down, either. No matter what anyone has to say about Squidoo, I loved it there, and am pleased to have been there. Through Squidoo, I met many marvelous people; most of them are here on HubPages. Had to chip in, and agree with you. I was sad to see Squidoo go down.

I agree, Nancy. If I had a wish, though, I'd like to see pages blocked that had excessive spelling and grammatical errors. The English language is being run into the mud in this digital age. ~~~

Arachneaposted 9 years agoin reply to this

not necessarily. when i commented, i hadn't realized there was a problem brewing with bubblews. so my comment wasn't to suggest pinterest is on the fritz also. i find it amusing, however to envision a site which is a cross between say HP and Pinterest. so many similar websites started with a smattering of features they gleaned from one site and then another handful from another site.

  12. Beaddoodler profile image65
    Beaddoodlerposted 9 years ago

I agree there are good writers on bubblews, many of them are my friends also.  It's not the good writers, but the fact that the site isn't performing as it should, isn't paying some of the good writers and the changes in the policies are vague.  I hate to see it go, but my account is so messed up through no fault of my own that they won't pay me.

Now it's back to the 'Squidoo is HubPages' homepage.

Also, Squidoo is on a different server and it looks like HP has a different server IP address than it did a few weeks ago when it changed servers.
