I would go to Maui this Christmas - but I haven't planned ahead enough, so I'll have to wait. I think Christmas anywhere in Hawaii must be incredibly special.
I'd love to go to Sun Valley for Christmas, but most likely we will stay home and maybe drive to Seattle or Lake Tahoe.
Northern Michigan.
It's the only place I have ever been on Christmas day, and I can't imagine Christmas day anyplace else.
As long as I have family up there, that's where I'll be
I'd like to go to Alaska or Finland or somewhere else, where there's plenty of snow, cold outside, etc.
Real Christmas
You're really scareing me now, we go to Santa Fe quite often and my wife loves the Blue Corn Cafe! If we're not there to ski I'm bag toteing.
Ok, I'm changing my mind - Santa Fe would be special enough.
Halifax Nova Scotia -- lobster, ocean, and the fickle winds of weather....
Very cool...but then there are always ways to keep warm...kaffee with peppermint schnapps, ice skating, and the lovely federbetten with eiderdown comforter...shared, of course...
Looks awesome. Maybe one year I will have a cold Xmas, but in my part of the world (New Zealand) its summer in December.
I think Vienna is the place we are looking for. Best place for this time of year...
North Pole of course! You said anywhere...
But the North Pole that has the elves and stuff, not the boring barren one.
Going to see my dad's & my daughter's. I usually wait 'til I'm leaving town. If I do that first, then I spend the rest of the holiday on the verge of tears.
I'm hoping northern MI will get a ton of snow for XMas. Last year it was so heavy that my room was the only one occupied at the motel. Everybody else cancelled. The snow was to deep to drive in.
Unless, like me, you were very very stubborn.
Ten years back in time so I could have one more Christmas with my parents.
there are two that I am aware of, One in Ohio [mine] and one in Missouri.
Alberta in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, which conveniently also happens to be where I live, nothing beats a white Christmas.
Our whole family gets together every other Christmas, last Christmas was wintery weather in Williamsburg, this Christmas will be in "hopefully sunny" Hilton Head. We take a group of condos, the family nucli come in from all over the world. We share condos and decorate the main condo with marked down decorations (everyone throws in $5 and we go full out with lights, a tree, a wreath, everything - then we pass it on to the clean up crew to add to their personal collection for next year. We have a great time together and no one person is overburdened. Lots to do and see and still have family around - everyone stays entertained and no one is cramped.
I'd like to go somewhere where there is no Christmas hype, no endless CDs of kitschy Christmas music in every shop, no trashy decorations, where those who wish to celebrate it as a religious festival are free to do so, and those who don't are left in peace. If this non-existent place happened to be warm and sunny as well, it would be sheer paradise.
That sounds like the last place I'd like to be for Christmas.
Christmas is a peak season for suicide attempts. There are many lonely and unhappy people for whom Christmas is the worst time of the year.
I agree with you. I can't abide the manipulation and moneymaking aspect of it all.
Strangely enough, Christmas Island might be just the place. According to Wikipedia it has a population of about 1'500 (can't be many department stores there), and it is 85% Buddhist / Islamic.
Bound to be less hype than most places, wouldn't you say?
I don't exactly know why, but I think I would like to be in Paris, France for Christmas if I had my choice.
I'd like to stay at home this Christmas, go to the beach, barbecues, parties.
for me it would be to Transylvania, since it would be fun to see parts fo Eastern Europe and two, because it's kind of a cool place.
I am going to India for the Christmas break. I need a vacation after this semester in school. It's been very stressful and I feel that the break will help me to recharge my brain so that I can come back next semester with a more relaxed outlook. I think it will be good for me. I have a lot of family and relatives there.
In India, I will be in a few places. First, I will be flying into Hyderabad, a major city in south India in the state of Andhra Pradesh. I will also be visiting Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay) in Madhya Pradesh, and Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta) in West Bengal.
I will more than likely be taking a lot of pictures when I go there, so stay tuned to my page to see some of them! Have a wonderful, safe and prosperous Holiday Season, and may all your dreams come true!

Back to Australia, so I could drink a cold beer on the warm summer beach to celebrate the holidays.
I flew into Delhi once not realising it was Diwali. Brilliant! We were even met with marigold garlands as we left the plane.
I also attended a wonderful Diwali in the grounds of Nottingham Castle one year. There were puppet shows, a play, banghra music, superb food, all ending with a huge bonfire and fireworks.
If Christmas was even just half as much fun as that, I'd be more enthusiastic about it.
---- Just some place where there is no snow and frost right now, thank you.
To Darmay...
Which is particularly sad because that's a place I made up for my new short story series 'Notebook'. Sigh. But it's an awesome place, and nice and hot, whereas my own home is practically caved in snow. White X-mas fine, white winter, no thanks...
Impossible, I know, but I would love to go back to 1990 and see my parents again. I always miss them but Christmas time just makes their absence all the harder to bear.
I'm exactly where I want to be for Christmas... home with my daughters and my grandson. We have three beautiful trees all decorated with ornaments collected over the years. There is the big tree in the main living room with an obscene number of packages under it, a smaller one in the hallway foyer, and a living Norfolk Island Pine potted tree in the sunroom.
I never, ever forget how very blessed we are, so after we open our presents, we will be off to the Catholic Charities to help serve holiday meals.
There is no place else I'd rather be and no one else I'd rather be with this Christmas... Merry Christmas!
New Zealand or Hawaii-
Summer sun and long daylight hours to relax with family n friends.
The only place I really want to be this year is right here at home. My daughter flies in from college on Wednesday and we will all be together under one roof - I haven't seen her in 5 months! This is where I want to be!
Same here love being with family over christmas, turkey dinner at my dads with family popping in and out wouldn't swap it for anywhere in the world.
in Asian and African slums and streets where Christmas comes as a cruel irony of life. I would serve some food to the hungry, sick, deprived children and say, "sorry, I don't don't have much." Throughout the years I having been doing this in any big occasion in my country.
Come to Jamaica ,it feels like summer the cool breeze coming down from Florida with the warm sun you cannot lose .

Just a random thought after watching the 10th Kingdom...I personally would live either in Vancouver, Canada... or Chicago, Illinois. Both for the same reason which is film ha. Chicago has my dream school, Columbia College Chicago, and Vancouver is where I have noticed tons of amazing indie films are...

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?For me, it would be Ireland. I have never even been out of the eastern United States, but I plan on going to Ireland someday - it's my dream! What about you?
