    Do you believe in 2012?

It seems as though Nostradamus's predictions are coming true. Dead birds falling from the sky, animals dead washing up on shore, terrible storms, earthquakes, droughts, floods..9/11 the list goes on. Do you believe in his prediction about the end of the world in 2012? Why or why not?

No I don't believe it. Any story hyped up by Hollywood out of all proportion cannot be true.

    Yes. And the world also ended in the years 1284, 1524, 1648, 1814, 1919, 1967, 1980, 1982, 1987, 1988, 1992, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2006, 2007, 2008 and all the other times it has been predicted that the world will end.

    It's just astromony -from  http://www.associatedcontent.com/articl … ovitch.htm

The NCP was not always Polaris, right now Polaris is .5 degrees centered. Anything less than degree is considered conjuction.

Ancient Maya, Babylonia, China, Greece and Egypt all knew about the celestial precession but most calendars are based on the solar year and moon. The Mayan calendar marks time according the the Earth's slow wobble called precession

No, if we did believe this, then we wouldn't exsist at present.

What might happen is that the world we previously knew will change. ie weather patterns more severe so it will be a tougher way of living from what we are previously used to.

I believe in 2012 - it will come and it will go like the last 35 years of my life have done, despite the fact that the world has been supposed to end several times during that span.  Even if I believed the world was going to end in 2012, what could I possibly do to stop it?  Life (even if it's not mine) will go on either way.

I do not believe that anything cathastrofic will happen in 2012 on a large scale. However, we seem to continue to endure Earth changes with somewhat increased natural and man made disasters.

I totally believe in 2012, it's the number that comes before 2013, and the one that comes after 2011!  That's about it however. Nostradamus was no prophet in any sense of the word, given the test of a Prophet is that 100% of a Prophets predictions are true, and Nostradamus has never been right.  So, that decides it for me.

As for changes happening around the world?  That's nothing new when you look back through history.  The media, the government, and big business, would all like us to panic and buy their lies so we spend billions on stuff that won't make a difference.

For all our worrying, no one has figured out how to add one day to their lives.  The only way scripture says a person can add to their lives is through honoring their parents and thus live a long life.  So, live in such a way that you honor your parents, your family, and your friend's, and you will do more for changing the world than anything Nostradamus or the government has to offer.

Man creates problems for the future generations. But without science, there will be no advancement. Therefore this prediction can be said as true in a way but may not happen in 2012.

The destruction of the world depends on how much damages we are continuing to create. If we do not put a stop, it will happen. But we do not know the actually date.

Good to read that so many people don't believe it.
    I don't believe it either.
Nostradamus predicted so many things. Maybe one or two things came true but that is pure coincidence.
He should have at least predicted that most of his predictions are bs and wont come true.

2012 will just be another year with it's ups and downs.

Scripture says no man knows the day nor hour. It does not say they won't know the year. I am not saying it is but I think it is very possible, the signs are all around the world, starting with destruction of so much of the earth. The world waxing worse, and even people saying that has been said before is even a sign. I think it might be a good idea to be ready.

I don't believe in the prediction that the world would come to an end in 2012.  The year will come and go like any other years.
There had been predictions in the past also !
Yes, we are very likely to have more droughts, earthquakes, flood etc. in the coming year due to the continuous damage being done by us to the natural enviornment, there would  also be loss of lives in thousands due to war and terrorism.

I don't think that anyone knows when the world will end, not even Nostradamus. All the hype about 2012 is making some people a lot of money. It reminds me of Y2K. The consultants sure made a killing by scaring people half to death.

  16. jtyler profile image60

Yes, I do, in the same way I believe that there is a 4th of July in England.  I think that anything that will happen in 2012 is overexaggerated the same way Y2K was.  The Y2K problem was real, but it was not anywhere near powerful enough to end the world.

The year itself may or may not be the end, but as the world continues to shift and man and nature pushes the envelope, I believe it is wise to prepare ourselves. Drastic change is increasingly inevitable and I believe all things will come to a head before it all gets better.

Wasnt the world supposed to end back in June 21st 2011... It's propaganda planet Earth... I cannot wait to wear my hi-top Nike's and ride my Mattel hoverboard just like in Back To The Future Part II in the year 2015... We're almost there 2015...

I believe in the year 2012 just like any other year, but not that it's the end of the world.  End of world predictions have come and gone.  It can be easy to take a loose prediction of circumstances and then make it fit if you want to make it fit.

If I were present during the Holocaust or the Rowandan genocide, I think I would have thought the world was coming to an end during those horrible episodes of history.

Well... There has been rather gruesome evidence of future times ahead of us, what with all of this social, environmental, and biological destruction & decimation that we are all currently facing. However, because Nostradamus has been wrong so many times before, I believe that he could run for office if he were brought back to life, and it would seem preposterous just to heed a single syllable that rockets out of his dirty fleshy mouth.

If he is right, however, it would be a good time to join hands and sing Uncle Albert\Admiral Halsey 2012 times.

Absolutely not! The world will not end in 2012. Don't let this thing worry you. As Motown2Chitown says it has been 'going to end' so many times in my lifetime I've lost count. The papers build these stories up out of all proportion just to sell the paper. Good news has never been saleable news. Bad news sells. I bet you that come Christmas day 2012 you, and I, will be sat at the dinner table tucking into our Christmas lunch just as we have every year so far.
Don't worry yourself over things that people say just to get a reaction. This beautiful planet of ours, and the people and animals on it, is going no where.
All the best and chin up.

2012 will not be the end of the world.
The prediction based on calendar dates did not mean the end of the world, but rather the end of a time frame.
They had an odd measurement that accounted for a few thousand years.
So basically they had hours, days, weeks, months, years, and another big thing. The date in 2012 is just the end of that big thing. So it will also be the start of the next one.

Sorry for the vagueness of my answer, I can't remember all the exact facts but thats the gist of it.

No, I don't believe that we have a date as to when the world will come to an end.  We said the same thing about the year 2000.  I was working at a grocery store at the time and it was insane to see the amount of people in there buying water, batteries, propane, and canned foods just in case.  My question to them was always the same...."if the world does, in fact, come to an end.....do you think you will need all of this stuff?" lol.

I don't know when the world will end. I do know that Christ will return to earth someday. The Bible says that no man knows the time that Christ will return to earth.  No matter how many people say that know when Christ is coming, they do not.  These things that you mentioned, earthquakes, droughts, etc, are signs of the end times.  They are recorded in the Bible.  We are closer to the Lord coming back everyday.  Are you ready to meet Him?

  44. Express10 profile image79

I believe in 2012 because I've lived it all year and have 17 more days to go before I meet and greet 2013.

Seriously though, I find Nostradamus's predictions stretches of the imagination in too many cases and do not believe the world will end in 7 days, weeks, months, or years, centuries, or millennia.
