Go ahead I am all ears.  Tell me what parts are facts, which ones aren't and how you know the difference.

The only real facts of the bible are that Jesus Christ was a real man.

      Everything else has been manipulated.

Including...Jesus Christ's teachings. Those are out of context.

I wouldn't take Jesus being a real live person as a fact but probable.  Only a fact if you say something like, there was a man named Jesus.

Okay, if I must. There was a man named Jesus Christ. Is that better.

I could argue that too.  The Jews and many other secs. would say that Christ was a name given to mean savior or messiah or something like this... in which case they believe that Jesus was not the savior or messiah and I could argue that Jesus Christ does not exist.

I could only say that there was a man named Jesus.

          There was a man...

          Luke 2:25
....there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

This one recognised the baby Jesus as the Messiah he had been awaiting.

          Luke 4:32-34
....In the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,

Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us?

I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.

This one and his demon, recognised Jesus for who he was.

          Luke 8:40-42

....there was a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house: For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.

This was a man who knew Jesus could save his daughter from death.

          Luke 19
....there was a mannamed Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.

This was a man who knew he must see Jesus

Does that make Jesus a fact? smile

There are alot of little interesting facts in the bible, we know some of the accounts of battles actually happened, we know several of the Persian kings named existed, and we also know from Roman records that many of the deaths of the early apostles actually happened. There are even references from Roman and Jewish historians to "The man Jesus, called Christ."

We also know many of the cities are real and still exist, we also know that many of the nations, peoples, and customs described in both the old and new testament were, and are real. the book is filled with both facts and expressions of beliefs, knowing where to draw the line has always been the issue.

I will accept that as facts.

        3. There are accounts of wars that actually happened.
        4. There were people who called themselves apostles who who died.
        5. There are names in the Bible of cities and regions that exist or existed.
        6. Their culture. ie: sacrificial animals, prayer, death by crucifixion and stoning.

Good.  Now we are getting somewhere.

I believe the Bible is in fact filled with truths and none of it is fiction. It is an inspired book and men from all walks of life wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. The revelation and discernment of its writings also must be read and studied in that light. For non believers this is futile because they do not know the Author. A great book by Josh McDowell, Evidence That Demands a Verdict may shed some light, especially on the Person of Jesus Christ.

Thank you for giving so much credit (?). Not quite sure if you were being sarcastic or genuine. Be that as it may. The reason I stated it like I did is that we have had many questions and threads to do with taking the whole Bible literally. Well, I for one believe the WHOLE thing, but do not take it all leterally, except when that is the intended interpretation.
The "book" contains songs, poetry, allegory, prophecy, admonition, history, religious ritual, Laws, customs etc.
So, if the written information being read is intended to be interpreted as FACT, then it stands to reason to interpret that (passage) AS fact.
EG. Was Moses a REAL person, or a man of myth?
I say FACT, you may not agree. However, study of the continuance of the "story" about Moses should verify that he indeed WAS a man of actual history.
How would you verify that he saw a REAL burning bush, that was NOT consumed by the flames. I take that by faith.
          I hope I clarified my position. big_smile

My opinion is, Not to worry so much on that facts. Worry more about the feeling. If you read something, that relates to how you feel, which in turn, can be looked at as a fact. Regardless, I believe people live their lives searching. By going to church, believing this, believing that. To me, that shows a person who hasn't found God, and is still searching. But searching in the wrong places. The only place you can find God,to me, Is through yourself. He made us, off course we have a part of him in ourselves. Its not about whether the bible says, or the law says, or Jesus says, its right or wrong, or anything like that. Its all about how you feel in your heart. If your heart says its okay, than more than likely,  God says its okay, and vice-verse.  My point is, don't focus so much on the bible, Jesus, the church or a religion. Ask yourself, Does it really make any difference, whether its true or false. Would it change you as a person either way. Faith is believing in the unseen. I don't mean believe everything the bible says cause you have faith. I mean, If God sent Jesus, as our savior, in life form, that could be seen by man. To tell the people they could get to heaven by worshiping him, sounds a little like a false prophet to me. Not that I'm saying he was, like I said before, it really doesn't change my relationship with GOD either way. Also it defeats the purpose of faith, if God shows his self in any visible manor.  All things that are unexplainable, I believe to be signs of God. When theirs no proof, and you believe, based on your inner conscious, and nothing else. That's having faith!! Good Luck

First answer this, "if you died tomorrow why do you think God would let you into heaven".
You are it seems to me reaching out for something tangible, let me direct you to a couple of websites:  allaboutgod.com and all abouttruth.org
If you really want to know the truth you will take the time to do research or a little reading and listening.
Now let me tell you about a world shaking and changing man that I know: More than nineteen hundred years ago there was a man born contrary to the laws of life.  This man lived in poverty and was reard in obscurity.  He received no forman education and never possessed wealth or widespread influence.  He never traveled extensvely.  He only onced crossed the boundary of the country in which He lived.  But this man"s life has changed the course of history.  In infancy He startled a king; in childhood He puzzled doctors, in manhood He ruled the course of nature, walked upon the waves and hushed the sea to sleep.  He healed the multitudes withoujt medicine and made no charge for His servces.  He never wrote a book.  Yet His life has inspiredmore books than any other man He never wrote a song.  Yet He has furnished the them for more songs than all songwriters combined.  He never founded a college,.
But all the schools put together cannot boast of having as many students.  He never marshaled an army, nor drafted a soldier, nor fired a gun.  Yet no leader ever had more rebels surrender to Him without a shot fired.  He never practiced psychiatry, yet He has healed more broken hearts than all the doctors far and near.  Once each week the wheels of commerce cease their turning, and multitudes gather to pay homage and respect to Him.  Though time has spread nineteen hundred years between the people of this generation and Hids birth, He still lives.  His enemies could not desroy Him, and the gravecould not hold Him.  This man stands forth upon the highest pinnacle of heavenly glory, proclaimed of Gjod, acknowledged by angels, adored by His people and feared by devils, as the risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Now listen to this:  What you should consider is not whether you believe in God and His word but rather consider, hope and pray that God believes in you.

first of all we have to figure out what is a fact .your question is a bit in a grey area . such as ;if you asked someone who knew me they would give you an opinion . if they worked for me they might judge me as a good boss or bad boss . if they knew me as a parent they might judge me as a good parent or bad parent . if they were my wife they might judge me as a good husband or bad husband . and so on .
now as for the bible . what bible are we talking about ? in the morman bible . god states , bible , don't you suppose that i have inspired many people to write bibles.the koran the most ancient writting is said to be the first bible , than we have all the other bibles , and there are thousands of ancient documents and many , many inspired by god . instead of fact we could use the word truth . for that is the only thing that prevails ......oldcaptfrank

On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being more credible, I would give the original writings of the Bible a 10, and the form in which most have it today a 1. And the way in which men disassemble and then reassemble scriptures in an effort to support their view, a big fat 0. I can tell you from my own experience that the biggest reason most "unbelievers" dislike Christianity is because of the hypocrisy. Then there are the smaller groups who were simply indoctrinated by unbelieving teachers who were nothing but brain dead ex hippies that were hired by our colleges to teach our youth.

There have been great floods so Noah's Ark is probably based on fact. There is evidence in both ice and rock records for these floods as well as for past dry periods.

Is the story of Joseph and the Pharaoh true? Yes. It has been recorded that the ancient Egyptians believed that dreams can reveal the future. There have also been recorded years in which the Nile did not flood causing famine.

Is the story of the 10 commandments true? Everything about the Hebrews in captivity in Egypt rings true.

Were the Hebrews made to work as slaves on the building of a pyramid? No. But this was never suggested in the Bible. Hollywood made certain assumptions. The Hebrews were involved in building projects but they worked with mud bricks with straw to give them added stability. The mud and straw were mentioned in the Bible and we do know that ancient Egyptian homes and other structures were made out of such material so the facts come together.

Not much is known about Jesus outside the Bible. There is evidence, however, for the existence of Pontius Pilate which is something.

The Old Testament found in the Holy Bible is based on the Hebrew Bible, which the Koran is also based on.  The teachings found in the Hebrew Bible is based on the teaching found in the Ancient Egyptian cults and beliefs. The idea of a soul, judgment, creation, commandments (The Egyptians had 40 Commandments). The New Testament introduces us to Jesus. A famous guy who no one really knows much about.  Jesus preaches the ideas of John the Baptists and gets in trouble with the Jewish authorities for trashing the Temple. Somebody said something and the next thing you know Jesus is executed by the Romans. Nothing is written about him until 30 years after his death by biographers who never met him. His biographers wrote claims that Jesus walked on water, who‘s mother was a virgin, raised from the dead, etc. It was kind of like claiming the Titanic was unsinkable. The owners, engineers and builders, of the Titanic never made such claim. That claim was made by the newspaper journalists who knew nothing of ship building. So you get my idea of how factual the Bible is.

If water seeped into one area the ship would still not drown due to buoyancy. Ironically and tragically the doors were not closed a maritime disaster. You dont leave port without making sure all the water tight doors are cosed properly.

Biblical scholars all agree that events that were 'embarrassing' to the early Christian community are FACTS.  Like what, you ask?  I give you three for now: 1) Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist,
      2) Jesus came from a very insignificant town called Nazareth, and 3) Jesus was betrayed by one of his disciples.  These are facts because they are 'inconvenient truths' to the earliest Christians.  If they could, they would have altered these facts, but they couldn't because they were well known.  I hope this helps.

Dr. John Dominique Crossan published a book several years ago regarding the very question that you raised.  He clarified which words of Jesus are historically authentic.  I am not sure, however, what you mean by 'a fact.'  The Bible is not a scientific book.  I hope and pray that you already know that.  I think you are wondering why there are so many contradictions in the Four Gospels.  If that's the case, you really should check Crossan's work.  He rocks.

When I think that the disciples says something that sounds contradictory to the God said it parts, I search diligently to discover my misinterpretation of what I "thought" the disciple said.

In the mistranslated English Bibles it does say God took a rib from Adam, however in the Hebrew/Aramaic text it says he took the side of Adam and closed the flesh up instead. But then who is Adam? is he one man? It says God created man, male and female and called their name Adam. Look it over. Why would it say God closed the flesh INSTEAD. The word instead is a clue.

We all know there are no cold hard facts in the Bible.  That's why it is based on faith which is not a concrete object.  It's just a belief system and you can't tell someone their belief is wrong.

It's like someone liking broccoli and trying to convince someone who hates the taste, that it's actually good.

I know the Bible is a work of made up, feel good, motivational stories.  But some people just took it a step further and created a crazed religion.

But that doesn't make their belief wrong.  Just misguided smile

      Who does your "We" comprise?

Egypt did not exist? There was no tribe who called themselves Israel?

There's plenty of solid archaeological evidence to support the fact that certain places described in the Bible existed at the proper times and that certain people named in the Bible did in fact exist, and in the capacities described in the writings.

One can certainly argue that Moses was looney tunes to think that he got the Commandments from a voice in a burning bush, but only a bonehead would argue that the ancient Israelites did not organize their society around compliance with those same Commandments.

The intellectually curious would inquire what was special or different about the Israelite's experience back then that would cause that society to continue to exist with more or less the same value system for thousands of years?

Who can name a single other distinct social group or tribe from the 3,000 BC era that continues to exist to this present day?

Don't honest people want to know why some things are different from others?

Archeologically speaking the Israelites of today did not really exist until after the return to Israel from Persian exile, in 500BC or so. While they did exist prior as a people and a group, for almost a thousand years, their traditions, beliefs and customs were not solidified into the monotheistic faith we see today until their trial by fire so to speak by the Babylonians and Persians. Their refusal to accept monotheism and God's commandments is well documented in the books of the prophets, Kings, Samuel, and Chronicles. These were a scattered feuding people who constantly strove against God's will and law time and time again until the exile, then we see a people united as one in faith and identity.

Isn't that the real story of the Hebrew Bible? That human beings can live together peacefully in a civil society only after they have acknowledged the primacy of a Greater Law that human beings can neither change nor supersede?

Well, if you consider reincarnation, all those same (most probably) souls are incarnate now...the tribe of Israel consists now days throughout most of the races of the planet. The soul needs to continue to evolve. There are new souls that have come in as well, and actually many, most, are of the I AM race...souls that are most highly evolved that have come in to advance the other races on the planet, having chosen to incarnate and be "veiled" from their true source and more highly evolved soul. It is a great sacrifice, to save all souls.

Luke 17:34–36 says the Second Coming of Jesus Christ will occur while some are asleep at night and others are working at daytime activities in the field. This is a clear indication of a revolving earth, with day and night at the same time.

Medical science has only recently discovered that blood-clotting in a newborn reaches its peak on the eighth day, then drops. The Bible consistently says that a baby must be circumcised on the eighth day.

The great biological truth concerning the importance of blood in our body’s mechanism has been fully comprehended only in recent years. Up until 120 years ago, sick people were "bled," and many died because of the practice. If you lose your blood, you lose your life. Yet Leviticus 17:11, written 3,000 years ago, declared that blood is the source of life: "For the life of the flesh is in the blood."

Avoid swine (Deuteronomy 14:8). Not so long ago, science learned that eating undercooked pork causes an infection of parasites called trichinosis. Now consider this: the Bible forbid the eating of swine more than 3,000 years before we learned how to cook pork safely.

The sun goes in a circuit (Psalm 19:6). Some scientists scoffed at this verse thinking that it taught geocentricity – the theory that the sun revolves around the earth. They insisted the sun was stationary. However, we now know that the sun is traveling through space at approximately 600,000 miles per hour. It is literally moving through space in a huge circuit – just as the Bible stated 3,000 years ago!

The universe is expanding (Job 9:8; Isaiah 42:5; Jeremiah 51:15; Zechariah 12:1). Repeatedly God declares that He stretches out the heavens. During the early 20th century, most scientists (including Einstein) believed the universe was static. Others believed it should have collapsed due to gravity. Then in 1929, astronomer Edwin Hubble showed that distant galaxies were receding from the earth, and the further away they were, the faster they were moving. This discovery revolutionized the field of astronomy. Eisntein admitted his mistake, and today most astronomers agree with what the Creator told us millennia ago – the universe is expanding!

Our ancestors were not primitive (Genesis 4:20-22; Job 8:8-10; 12:12). Archeologists have discovered that our ancestors mined, had metallurgical factories, created air-conditioned buildings, designed musical instruments, studied the stars, and much more. This evidence directly contradicts the theory of evolution, but agrees completely with God’s Word.

The seed of a plant contains its life (Genesis 1:11; 29). As stated in the Book of Genesis, we now recognize that inside the humble seed is life itself. Within the seed is a tiny factory of amazing complexity. No scientist can build a synthetic seed and no seed is simple!

Safe drinking water (Leviticus 11:33-36). God forbade drinking from vessels or stagnant water that had been contaminated by coming into contact with a dead animal. It is only in the last 100 years that medical science has learned that contaminated water can cause typhoid and cholera.

Pseudo-science anticipated (1 Timothy 6:20). The theory of evolution contradicts the observable evidence. The Bible warned us in advance that there would be those who would profess: “profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge (science).” True science agrees with the Creator’s Word.

Science confirms the Bible (Colossians 2:3). These insights place the Bible far above every manmade theory and all other so-called inspired books. In contrast, the Koran states that the sun sets in a muddy pond (Surah 18:86). The Hadith contains many myths. The Book of Mormon declares that Native Americans descended from Jews – which has been disproven by DNA research. The Eastern writings also contradict true science.

So who argues that the Earth doesn't revolve around the sun?

What does circumcision have to do with blood clots? Are you saying girls were circumcised too?

Earliest recorded blood transfusion around 1492.

To be precise, the OT forbids swine skin.

Galileo was considered a heretic of the Catholic church for insisting that the Earth revolved around the sun.  The Catholic church insisted that the Earth was the center of the Universe.  Please tell me again what verse says that God said that the sun is moving through space at 600,000 mph.  This I would love to see.

Way to copy the Wiki def. in your own words.  Nice!

Out of curiosity, how are you making the connection to evolution? wink

Not so, science has been able to synthetically duplicate seeds.

First case of typhoid fever 430 BC.  First case of cholera as early as 1826.  They knew long before gods word what was making them sick. smile

      The irony is timeless.

      This is your opinion, yes?

So you used the Bible as your source as well as another source that uses the Bible as their source...

Are babies knitted in the womb or is crocheting used? Are you wondrously and fearfully made? Okay, for those who do not believe that being made in the image of God is a fact, whose image were you made in? Finally, since the Ten Commandments are not a fact and have been nailed to the cross,it is within the law of your country to steal, kill, lie, commit adultery without any consequences.Lets get on with the sarcasm and irony!

Some things we have to take on faith.  Believing that the Bible is the only truth is a choice many Christians make.  We know Jesus existed.  That is the only truth I need.

Even if the Bible could not be proven, it would suffice to say that it provides adequate direction for many lost souls.  The Jewish health laws outlined in the Old Testament, for instance, are for the good of mankind.  The Ten Commandments, if kept, would keep order among the masses.

There is nothing wrong with putting your faith in the power of the word of God.  The issues come in when those words are twisted by men to bend people to their will.

God is present within all of us, so even though the Bible was written by men, I believe that the Bible was a production of Divinely led prophets.

The GREATEST FACT pertaining to "The Bible"..... As 99.5% of 'the Bible Followers' are for whatever reason attached to; Has been re-writen by many scribes (all of whom had a vested interest in the outcome of their works) throughout history many times. hmm

Factually; those great hubbers were employed by their respective organisations to translate previous incomplete documents and with the secondary (or primary) objective of ensuring 'the book' would be widely accepted by the masses (or sold).
Not Unlike the present publishing systems of today! lol
I wonder how those re-writings would have been accepted if the scribes had had adsense accounts? hmm

Of course, (conveniently) many of the masses choose to ignore or deny this Fact. sad

Hi, I think the question has been out of place right from the start. Asking if the Bible has some facts could create a long debate that will never be answered. IMHO, the BIBLE is a

Book of Faith and not a Book of Fact!

You want some book about facts, get an encyclopedia. But even science make mistakes.

Time before Galileo they believe the world was flat and not round. They believe it and it became a "fact" for them. But today, even a 5 year old kid knows that the world is round and revolves around the sun, etc...

    The fact changed!

The truth and guiding principle about the bible is that it is a book of faith. And faith is believing without seeing or experiencing it first.

This could be the only real fact and truth in the Bible....

The Bible would affect and change people with faith, but people without faith will never believe it or always question the legality, absoluteness of its contents.

This is the only real fact about the bible. Those stories or even Jesus Himself is a testimony of having faith.

Jesus predicted this and spoke in parables mainly because he knew people would question the Bible and His teachings like these.

IMHO, there is no point in proving facts from the bible because no matter how great or intelligent a person is,no one can prove it because they were not present during that time.

But the real truth and fact is that teachings in the bible and acts of faith in the Bible are real and when applied to your life could answer most of your 'soul's questions ... Peace

So I have another question for you.  If science, as you say is false knowledge, then why are you trying to use it to justify the Bible?

Also, how do you define heretic?  Galileo was considered a heretic by the Catholic church...Are you trying to say that Catholics were not Christians now?

When you are able to get your story straight.  Come back and try again.  I would like the facts, not opinion, not speculation, not rhetoric, not mindless babble about what you believe.

Just the facts, no faith, no religion, just facts.  Can you understand this?  I will say no, you don't understand the question.  But I will give you another chance.

I never science was bad, evolution is NOT science.  I have no problem with variations, genetic recombination, adaptations, transduction, mutations, transformation, vital enzyme exchange through plasmids, conjugation within a kind, it’s biblical and a proven fact, but when you Darwinist try to take leap of faith with “Give it enough time you turn anything to anything look at these bones” that where it stops being science and becomes a pseudoscientific religion. And  when you  can't even tell how it all began and where the information came from. I‘ll stick with God and His word.

Roman Catholics are a different story.

FACT: Evolution is has been filled with lies and deception from the start.

the list goes on and on. Like another hubber said fool me once.

FACT: The amount of information in the 3 billion base pairs in the DNA in every human cell has been estimated to be equivalent to that in 1,000 books of encyclopedia size. If humans were 'only' 4% different this still amounts to 120 million base pairs, equivalent to approximately 12 million words, or 40 large books of information. This is surely an impossible barrier for mutations (random changes) to cross" Dr. Don Batten, Ph.D.

QUESTIONS: What evidence justifies the evolution proposal that life spontaneously arose from non-living material in spite of the calculations showing that such occurrence is astronomically improbable.

By what means did the code of life and the enzymes necessary to make the code originate? Which came first: the code to make the enzymes or the enzymes to make the code?

If fifty years of intensive research on mutant fruit flies has produced nothing but more fruit flies, why is it thought that other organisms can evolve into something else?

Who is the historical Socrates? He never left a single writing. Did he exist?

I'm sure that some peple do consider the Bible as an accurate historical document but there is no Jewish or Christian biblical scholar that I am aware of that would make that claim.

Anybody with a real intellectual curiosity, however, would wonder how a desert nomad, 4,000 or 5,000 years ago would have come up with the thought that there was the possibility of an existence outside of the boundary of space and time of the observable universe. It was common to ascribe divine powers to things within the observable universe, like storms, or flood waters, etc., but the idea of a Being outside of space and time was revolutionary.

Another intellectual curiosity of the Hebrew Bible is the Genesis account of creation that bears a striking insight into the sequence of events surrounding the Big Bang. I do not recall the passage but there is even a segment that talks about the stars expanding into a void and eventually becoming nothing but smoke. Not many desert nomads had PdDs in astrophysics 4,000 years ago.

The common translation of the ancient Hebrew word for "period of time" into "day" has the detractors claiming that the Bible says that creation occurred in 6 or 7 sideral periods. That's nonsense. It could just as accurately have been translated as billions of years instead of days.

The Bible is not an historical document. Anybody mocking it for lack of provable "facts" is setting up a straw man that they can knock down. The Bible is a source of wisdom, however, and the hundreds of stories say more about what it means to be human as anything written since.

Did you know......Mankind came across 'religion' by accident. To understand- you must KNOW where mankind was on the evolutionary scale, such as "How many people were actual conscious beings?" or "What type of society/civilizations complexities were there?"

When you know the answer to those questions. It becomes self-explanatory about whether or not, 'god' exists.

It may not give you 100% proof, only because you'll not want to believe it. It is understandable.

When you come to the self-realization, just like I did(after so many years of religious study), the anger you will encounter will hurt badly.

To start- let's get the simple facts we know out of the way.

The Universe exists. Why? Who cares!
The Earth exists. Why? Who cares!
The Human race exists. Proof- you have your very own individual consciousness.

Why do Humans exist? You SHOULD not put oneself into a collective reason for existence, because each human being's purpose is defined by oneself and no other.

There can not be a collective reason. Unless, specific circumstances are met by all people.

Cagsilposted 15 years agoin reply to this

Well, I figured you would understand that statement, considering the statement before that and what it said.

Just in case- Why Humans Exist? Is a question that should only be asked or talked about, thru a single individual person, and NOT on the whole of society, because OF the fact they have individual consciousness in each of them. That means, each can create or design their own future, through a singular purpose.

Why Do YOU Exist? Is the question that should be asked, but isn't. What purpose does your life have?

COLLECTIVELY - meaning ALL of humanity, would all have to have the same purpose- the betterment of mankind, but will have different paths to achieve that common goal or purpose.

You CAN NOT have a collective reasoning that encompasses everyone, unless specific circumstances are met, as stated.

Example: an individual can set their purpose to be for the betterment of mankind. What one does to do that, is in the integration of thoughts ones begins to create about obtaining that goal.

Each person has the ability, it comes with being a conscious human being.

Well, the bible is only one book of many.  Much of the others have been lost in the fire at Alexandria Library in the time of Cleopatra.  Much information is missing.. dead sea scrolls are part of the many in the series and, of course, through translation, a lot has been lost here too.

I think if you are just kind and happy, you won't go far wrong.  Just live your life with good intentions, even though this can go pear shaped sometimes, that is just one of those learning things.

I think that if you understand conception, as the microcosm example, then you might understand the big bang, as a macrocosm example.

Everything links - if you understand how the planets revolve around the sun, then you will understand how an electron revolves around a nucleus.

If you understand that where ever there is chaos, there is always order, then you know the chaos theory.

If you understand chaos, then you can imagine eternity.

If you can picture eternity, then you will see black holes.

Just want to leave you with one picture in your minds eye... what do you see if you place a mirror in front of a mirror? You see a one dimensional eternity (or a universe?). Imagine what you would see if you made a mirror in a ball (the mirror would be reflecting inwards within the ball with no joints). I think this is symbolic representation of a universe.

Imagine what changing affects would result if a small hole was made in this ball (or a black hole?). Now image another similar ball with a hole joined to the first ball's hole - another universe? and continue.. continue.. etc Does this make sense?

What part of the bible is a fact?

Since, some people like to discount actual facts in evidence and work or study, which as been recorded. Then I would say you have come to an impass on whether or not, the bible has any factual evidential value.

How ever, it appears many people in these forums, simply dismiss science as fact, but not for the reasons I've seen announced recently- the fact that you don't see your ignorance is not really your fault. You've been programmed by your religious leaders, as in your faith in text, to be facts, when the TRUTH is it's not.

You want to come at me with your insults. Be my guest, it just shows your lack of knowledge about your own life and how much you don't actively practice your own beliefs. SURE, you have your belief, faith or HOPE even, that 'god' is real.

You CANNOT definitively admit he is real, because YOU can't prove it to yourself, 100% completely. It's impossible!

You consciousness/awareness, which enabled free will thought and your conscience, continue play tug-of-war with your beliefs.

You subconscious is battling your rationale for believing in something that isn't real.

It only proves- for all your screaming and shouting, at the rain....is that you really don't understand life or get it. And, that's sad.

    Either way, have fun.

I love it!  "EVERY fact in the Bible Is fact."

At least we got some facts. It has pages in it, they are numbered in numerical order.  It has a copyright date on it.  It list historical references, tells us about their culture and traditions, the things they did and what they believed.  It list landmarks and even some people that can be verified through non biblical sources.

Yet, the most important parts of the 'story' that can not be verified scientifically, historically or in anyway for that matter is the 'resurrection' and his father named 'god' and of course things like, people being turned into pillars of salt.  Fiery chariots that scoop folks named Elisha up into heaven.

Shucks, the Bible doesn't even do a very good job helping anyone verify the Arc of the Covenant.  Was it a gold box built to the specifications that are listed in Deuteronomy ( I think it was Deuteronomy) or is a little wooden box also listed in Deuteronomy a few pages later?

There is no evidence of Noah's arc... at least one being so large it could carry a pair of every animal that existed on Earth at the time, it's not even probable.

The real facts about the Bible:

It gives us and in depth look at what was going on during that time.  It's a psychological dig, if you will, into the past.  It is a collection of stories retold through the ages.

ie:  they were also told the stories...taken from other souces such as the pyramids of Egypt, the story of Horus etc.... they were able to travel by land and sea so they weren't exactly secluded and communication was just as important to them as it is to us today.

Just like any other fictional tale told today.  The best stories use real references to bring the story to life.  Fictional writers always use things that people can identify with such as a landmark like a mountain, the name of a bank and even names of real people.  Shute, fictional writers use other fictional characters and real life characters in their works to make it seem real.

2000 years from now, someone could find a fictional book with historical references and believe it was a real story just because it has real events in it but we know how to discern the truth from fiction.

Someone talked about Shakespeare. He was a fictional playright who also used real things, real emotions, real events to tell the tale.  What was important was the message.  This is the same with anyone who writes.

With that, what are the facts.  Anna wants to hear what the facts are regarding the people.  I really don't think she cares to hear about what you believe (not you per say dj) but the facts that we can agree on, mythical creatures, characters, revelation(s), fiery pits of Hell, eternal damnation, Leviathan, Beast, Griffins, bones coming out of the ground to build a living dead army (which btw no one believes so why you believe it with Jesus is another question) etc... aside.

YOU HAVE A GREAT DIRECTION OF THINKING.
      AND LET ME ADD.
A FACT THAT CAN BE PROVEN WRONG, WAS NEVER REALLY A FACT.
THAT IS WHY E=MC2 IS STILL A THEORY AND NOT A FACT,
BECAUSE IT IS NOT FINISHED.. MAKING IT A CORRECT/RIGHT MATH
      EQ.

e=mc2 is a fact.  it is a fact because it can be proven false. fact does not determine truth

SO YOU ARE STATING THAT FACT IS FALSE.
IF SO YOUR STATEMENT THAT EVERYTHING IN THE BIBLE IS A FACT,
IS ALSO A WAY OF SAYING ALL THINGS WRITTEN IN THE BIBLE ARE
FALSE. IS THAT NOT WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO SAY.

Time is a functional concept that we apply to nature.  It is not IN anything.  It exists, yes.  The existence of time is a fact but it exists as that functional concept.  It is based on a linear understanding.  What has time got to do with facts of the bible?

AKAdj said, "all facts in the Bible are facts".  Not the whole Bible is all facts.  Pay attention. big_smile

Fact:  the Bible is a collection of written stories. That is true, it is a fact.  Fact: the collection of stories written in the Bible are not true.
