Hello, welcome to a new HubMob week.  For the second week in a row we are going to be mirroring the September HubMob contest, and this week we are going to be writing about Shopping and Services from today, Wednesday 8th of September until next Wednesday 15th of September.

    http://i54.tinypic.com/1957j7.jpg

But before we jump to a new topic, I want to congratulate our most prolific HubMobster of the week: mgwhite  who wrote an amazing 14 hubs for last week's HubMob.

This week we are going to focus on your local area and you will be able to write about your local stores, libraries, markets and many other services that make living in your area a pleasant place to be.  Please, if you are entering the contest do not forget to tag your HubMob hub with hmtswk2

For the official rules to enter the contest and to check whether you are eligible or not please check the contest forum thread.

If you are eligible to enter the contest you can submit your hub via the HubMob.  To join this week's HubMob/contest please follow the steps below:

    1. START YOUR HUB CLICKING THIS LINK.  Choose the "Answer the Request" green button.  Choose the "MAKE A HUB ABOUT IT" option.

    2. Choose a relevant title for your Hub to get a good ranking in the search engines, AVOID starting your title with "Weekly HubMob"

    3. You MUST categorize your Hub in the "Travel and Places" category
    (or any of its subcategories).

    4. You MUST include at least one relevant map capsule with one marked location

    5. Your hub MUST be a minimum of 300 words, be completely original and truly related to the week's topic

    6. Include the HubMob RSS Feed in your hub: http://hubpages.com/question/71083/hubm … ew&rss For more information on how to add the RSS feed to your hub you can click here

    7. Add one of the HubMob graphics  You can use the special graphic at the start of this thread http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv19 … 5_f520.jpg which was created for the topic by  wyanjen, or the traditional HubMob graphic below.
    http://i43.tinypic.com/rup3mg.jpg

    8.  If you are eligible for the contest Please Tag your hub with: hmtswk2

    9. After you publish your HubMob Hub, come back to the forum and post a link to your hub with a brief description of what you wrote about and why.  Take advantage of the free publicity!

If you are still not sure about what is a HubMob and the benefits of taking part in one I created this guide http://hubpages.com/hub/What-is-a-HubMo … o-join-one please feel free to come up with any questions if you have any doubts left.

    Have fun!

Sounds far to complicated for a simple country boy like me, link this to that,  stick that there, come back and tell me you've done it...

Life's far too short....Least mine is....

I wrote the Hub put it where I normally stick Hubs, if you're interested that's where you can find it....

So why is it so complicated people ?

Maddie Ruudposted 13 years agoin reply to this

It's not that complicated, if you follow the instructions step by step.  And of course, nobody is obligated to participate in the HubMob.  It's just for fun!  If it's not fun for you, feel free to ignore it!

          Yep ! You're right it's not fun...!

Far too much thinking and hard work involved. guess you'll never know what a great place I found.

Merlin, so sorry to hear you feel that way!  It's only a tad complicated the first time.  Take a look at my step by step guide with screen shots:

            http://hubpages.com/hub/HubMob-For-Dumm … HubMob-Hub

I find HubMob extremely motivating. Even if I think I don't have anything to offer on the weekly topic, I usually change my mind.  I also usually have leftover ideas each week.  I'll never run out of ideas to write about!

              Hi Rose Mary,

Thanks for your help and Dummy Guide which just seems to prove my point.

Your Dummy Guide has nine pictures to explain how to place something in HubMob but you don't say why all that is necessary.

Not complaining about it, honest, just curious as to why it needs to be so involved and complicated.

I'm not sure I'll be entering this or any other HubMob contest until they make it a lot easier but if anyone is interested in what I might have entered this week

Merlin I suppose you have a good point.  I don’t say WHY.  As a 20 year Air Force veteran, one of the things I learned is to try to recognize when something “is just a rule”.  If it’s a rule, and I’m not likely to change it, then I don’t waste time beating my head against the wall about it.

That said, HubPages, and HubMob rules have a lot more logic than the US government.  Starting your hub from the link gets your hub in the RSS feed, making it a HubMob hub.  The RSS is an important part of how we promote, including asking HubMobsters to put the RSS capsule in their individual hubs.  Promotion helps drive traffic.  Whether you are trying to earn money, or writing for fun, being read is important.

HubMob is NOT a contest.  HubMob merely mirrors the contest topics during contest months.  Your hub has the hmtswk2 tag, so it is entered into the contest.

                  Thanks again Rose Mary,

As I said not complaining ...it's their site their rules...

I too spent some time in the military, Navy to be precise and agree about rules and head banging.

Needless to say I left after someone tried to expliain some of the reasons for the rules...EG  "If it was good enough for Nelson then it better be good enough for you."

I'm not here for profit, or to create profit for any organisations I'm here because I enjoy writing and reading and learning from others nothing more nothing less.

I have a couple of ideas for this one. I should have gotten in on this Hubmob and the different contest that HubPages conducts a long time ago. I'm glad I thought to come back and check out the HubMob. Now I'm going to be writing hubmob hubs and participating in the HubPages contest anytime I can.

I've become very confused by all these contests, to be honest. It's all got a bit hard.

I thought I was in the HMTS contest, then I spotted the Hubmob were doing the same content, so entered one through hubmobs last week.  But I thought I should only do one through hubmobs.

Now I'm here again and see hubmob are doing the same material, but you have to put the hmtswk2 tag in.

So, it seems to me I should be entering ALL my HMTS entries, via hubmobs links and adding the hubmob image.

    It's ... all ... just ... a bit confusing overall.

    1. cornwall_UK profile image70
cornwall_UKposted 13 years agoin reply to this

Right, I did my next hub for the HMTS, through the hubmob link, added the rss feed, added the image, tagged up the hub for hmtswk2.

I think I ticked all the boxes. Phew....  it's easy to omit one step isn't it!!

And here it is ... http://hubpages.com/hub/Dentists-in-Newquay-Cornwall

Hi, sorry to hear you were confused with all this.

In reality it is very simple.  You can enter both: the HubMob and the contest at the same time, that way you have double the publicity for your hub.

To enter your hub on the HubMob you follow the instructions here and to make sure it also enters the contest you just add the hmtswk2 tag for this week.

I hope it is clearer now.  Thanks for taking part in our weekly HubMob smile

Spending 3 hours on a good hub is one thing, I spent 3 hours trying to find anything as the information wasn't readily available.

Which was annoying as I was then too annoyed to do more... and I found more to go in it than I thought when I started, found things I never knew existed.

So an interesting 3 hours, but an annoying 3 hours.
