This is this first Monday of the year, the best time to start new projects and work on New Year's resolutions to try to improve our quality of life. And this month, HubPages is helping Hubbers to get their hands on their personal finances with the "Money grows on Hubs" January contest.
Here in the HubMob we are going to be supporting the contest and will be writing about the same topic. For the first week of January the HubMob Weekly topic will be "Getting Out of Debt". For those of you who are interested in entering your hubs in the contest please read carefully the contest rules before you post your hub.
As in previous contests, there is a daily bonus for those who write about a given topic during the week. The scheduled bonus topics for this week will be
Monday, January 3rd: Understanding Finance Tuesday, January 4th: Credit Cards Wednesday, January 5th: Student Loans Thursday, January 6th: Car Loans Friday, January 7th: Home Mortgages and Loans Saturday, January 8th: Debt and Bankruptcy Sunday, January 9th: Tax and Taxes
Remember that you can add extra interest to your hub making it both: a HubMob and a Contest hub at the same time. To enter your hub in this week's contest you only need to publish a relevant hub on the topic and categorize it under personal finances. To enter your Hub in the HubMob please follow the instructions below.
1. START YOUR HUB CLICKING THIS LINK. Choose the "Answer this Question" green button. Choose the MAKE A HUB ABOUT IT option.
I'm no economist; have no more than a layman's very general grasp of the laws surrounding banking etc.; I'm not a statistician; I don't have money in the stock market and I wasn't born with the proverbial silver spoon in my mouth.
What I do have is some level of real-life experience and opinion. For me, this is a hot-button topic of "Oh, boy--don't get me started!"
I'm afraid any hub I might submit on the topic would be very sardonic in nature, and strictly based on personal opinion.
I'm not sure that angle would meet the spirit of either the hub mob or the contest!
However, if that sort of twist would be acceptable, let me know, and I'll tell all.
Hi, while the HubMob is very open to different styles and angles to a given topic, the Contest is more specific. For further information about suitability for the contest please refer to the contest rules.
Otherwise, you are welcome with new styles and original takes at our HubMob topic.
Thank you soni, it is always fun to look for new topics or to join forces with other HubPages initiatives like the contest. This is not my "strong subject" but I am hoping to find some time to write at least one hub on the topic.
OK I think I entered this pretty correctly! I've got the HubMob graphic and RSS feed on my hub. The only thing was I published the hub yesterday so I didn't actually answer straight from the question because I wrote the hub before the question was posted - is this OK?
Well this is quite an addictive little Mob you've created. Understanding Finance was my choisce and put me under some healthy performance pressure tis evening. I published at 11:59 0n Jan 3rd.
I use a film from 1964, Mary Poppins, to demonstrate the choices we need to understand and make to get out of debt and stay out of debt. It is designed to use to teach children important principles of responsible finance in a fun way. I hope that you enjoy the Hub. http://hubpages.com/hub/Tuppence-Invest … ng-Finance
Having a working rss feed to other hubs is not essential for you entering the competition. I had the same issue in one of the earlier competitions. hope this relieves you anxiety to being included in the competition...
HubMob has nothing to do with your contest eligiblity. We merely mirror contest topics to minimize confusion. If you follow all the rules for the contest you should be good. Check out the contest thread. Always lots of good questions and answers there:
Here is my submission--although, as I warned, it's from the upside-down perspective, and takes on the real culprits. I've ignored trying to 'give advice' and instead attempt to trace the root of the problem.
Hiya Princessa, I love participating in contests and I sure love participating in the Weekly Hubmob topics.. but finance is really not my cup of tea. I am certainly not in a position to give any advice on money management. I don't have any money, so I don't have any money problems. lol Sorry, I am bowing out this week.
There is no need to repost the whole original competition post at the start of this thread by Princessa. In fact please don't do it- unless your replying to a particular question; Reposting takes up far too much room and is quite distracting...
You do this by using the last Icon button at the bottom of the page & not the reply button to make a post. marked (post a reply)
Just published a hub on "debt and bankruptcy". Having gotten myself into somewhat of a bind, coupled with the bad economy, I am now trying to avoid bankruptcy and pay off credit cards thereby assuring that I don't lose my business. It "ain't" easy, folks!
I am having the same problem, its about my loan in 2009 which was of 1.25lacs with ICICI.I did repayed them half d amount around 80thousand Rupees and because of the recession i lost my job.any was unable to pay for 3 months.i told those DSAs that i want to go for settelment but they just went away.suddenly ICICI advocate is calling me and telling me that u have to pay back the interest total of 2lacs and we r having our meeting tommorrow, otherwise we will take action.i just got paniced for a moment that, firstly some advocate of ICICI bank is calling and some meeting is going to happen and some bad thoughts started coming like what will happen if my name goes to police and will they harm my parents and so on.after reading all ur articles and suggestions i think i can reply them back in a rude way,as i did had some query that if this guy is an advocate,he knows to give a notice of around 1 month but this fake advocate is telling me we have r meeting tomorrow and u r in danger. and I cannot repay back this big amount,i want to ask you
can settelment be done wth 10,000 or 12,000.as i am going through a very difficult time .
Please reply me soon and give me some suggestion and inspiration.
