Happy New Year!!!!
This is this first Monday of the year, the best time to start new projects and work on New Year's resolutions to try to improve our quality of life. And this month, HubPages is helping Hubbers to get their hands on their personal finances with the "Money grows on Hubs" January contest.
Here in the HubMob we are going to be supporting the contest and will be writing about the same topic. For the first week of January the HubMob Weekly topic will be "Getting Out of Debt". For those of you who are interested in entering your hubs in the contest please read carefully the contest rules before you post your hub.
As in previous contests, there is a daily bonus for those who write about a given topic during the week. The scheduled bonus topics for this week will be
Monday, January 3rd: Understanding Finance
Tuesday, January 4th: Credit Cards
Wednesday, January 5th: Student Loans
Thursday, January 6th: Car Loans
Friday, January 7th: Home Mortgages and Loans
Saturday, January 8th: Debt and Bankruptcy
Sunday, January 9th: Tax and Taxes
Remember that you can add extra interest to your hub making it both: a HubMob and a Contest hub at the same time. To enter your hub in this week's contest you only need to publish a relevant hub on the topic and categorize it under personal finances. To enter your Hub in the HubMob please follow the instructions below.
1. START YOUR HUB CLICKING THIS LINK. Choose the "Answer this Question" green button. Choose the MAKE A HUB ABOUT IT option.
2. Include the HubMob RSS Feed in your hub: http://hubpages.com/question/95696/hubm … ew&rss
For more information on how to add the RSS feed to your hub you can click here
4. Add the New HubMob graphic http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv19 … R-2011.jpg or this week's HubMob graphic http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv19 … f-debt.jpg
to your hub so that everyone who reads it will know that it is part of the official HubMob topic of the week
5. Categorize: Please make sure you categorize your hub according to your chosen topic.
6. After you publish your Hub, come back to the forum and post a link to your hub with a brief description of what you wrote about and why.
Have a great start of the year!!!

Presently, others consider them abominable and oppressive...

My first Hub-mob posting on the subject of Debt, in keeping with today's bonus topic - Saturday, January 8th: Debt and Bankruptcy
http://hubpages.com/hub/Being-in-debt-s … ebt-advice
Basically my piece is a confession to my own debts as a warning to others not to do what I did.
Struggling with the RS feed - put what I think is the right link but it cionnects to hubs about romance
You have to "copy hyperlink" or "copy shortcut", not merely "copy". You can also click on Princessa's RSS link, taking you to the link, then copy address from navigation bar.
thanks, got it sorted now - cheers for your advice
This appears at the bottom of my hub after saving the RSS Feed
"This does not appear to be a valid RSS feed."
I seem to remember having this problem last year. I do not see any option but to copy or select all !
If you click the link in step #2 of the first post, you can copy the URL in the address bar at the top of the page once it loads.
Thanks Jen. I was out all afternoon and evening running errands. Got some new Peds pro gear (puzzles, travel games, etc.).

I'm no economist; have no more than a layman's very general grasp of the laws surrounding banking etc.; I'm not a statistician; I don't have money in the stock market and I wasn't born with the proverbial silver spoon in my mouth.
What I do have is some level of real-life experience and opinion. For me, this is a hot-button topic of "Oh, boy--don't get me started!"
I'm afraid any hub I might submit on the topic would be very sardonic in nature, and strictly based on personal opinion.
I'm not sure that angle would meet the spirit of either the hub mob or the contest!
However, if that sort of twist would be acceptable, let me know, and I'll tell all.
Hi, while the HubMob is very open to different styles and angles to a given topic, the Contest is more specific. For further information about suitability for the contest please refer to the contest rules.
Otherwise, you are welcome with new styles and original takes at our HubMob topic.
Princessa, you are always up with new innovations. I like your style.
Thank you soni, it is always fun to look for new topics or to join forces with other HubPages initiatives like the contest. This is not my "strong subject" but I am hoping to find some time to write at least one hub on the topic.
OK I think I entered this pretty correctly! I've got the HubMob graphic and RSS feed on my hub. The only thing was I published the hub yesterday so I didn't actually answer straight from the question because I wrote the hub before the question was posted - is this OK?
Heres my hub:
sorry Dorsi-I just clicked on your hub and it was not coming through for me. Check it out again.
I had to delete it and republish then re-enter the contest. I published it too soon - new link is http://hubpages.com/hub/Instant-Visa-Pr … edit-Cards
Sorry, but first and foremost, you must start from Princessa's link. See this reply from me on another forum thread regarding contest/HubMob hubs:
This is my idea on how to get out of debt.
This is my contribution for the day.
Here is my contribution
Well this is quite an addictive little Mob you've created.
Understanding Finance was my choisce and put me under some healthy performance pressure tis evening. I published at 11:59 0n Jan 3rd.
I use a film from 1964, Mary Poppins, to demonstrate the choices we need to understand and make to get out of debt and stay out of debt. It is designed to use to teach children important principles of responsible finance in a fun way. I hope that you enjoy the Hub. http://hubpages.com/hub/Tuppence-Invest … ng-Finance
So true! And HubMob has helped me to write on topics I otherwise would not have thought of. Some of these hubs have been my top traffic-getters.

Its telling me that the rss feed isn't working!! not sure what to do!
Yep, it's still not there, the message I get is this: This does not appear to be a valid RSS feed.
Hoping someone can help me! I'd like to be in the contest, since the rss feed didn't work, I'm probably out of the running!
Having a working rss feed to other hubs is not essential for you entering the competition. I had the same issue in one of the earlier competitions. hope this relieves you anxiety to being included in the competition...
HubMob has nothing to do with your contest eligiblity. We merely mirror contest topics to minimize confusion. If you follow all the rules for the contest you should be good. Check out the contest thread. Always lots of good questions and answers there:

This is a common problem when you just select "copy".
Try clicking on the link, taking you to the RSS feed. Then copy the link from the navigation bar.
Or right click on the link, and instead of "copy", select "copy link", "copy hyperlink" or "copy shortcut".

Hiya Princessa, I love participating in contests and I sure love participating in the Weekly Hubmob topics.. but finance is really not my cup of tea. I am certainly not in a position to give any advice on money management. I don't have any money, so I don't have any money problems. lol Sorry, I am bowing out this week.

There is no need to repost the whole original competition post at the start of this thread by Princessa. In fact please don't do it- unless your replying to a particular question; Reposting takes up far too much room and is quite distracting...
You do this by using the last Icon button at the bottom of the page & not the reply button to make a post. marked (post a reply)

Bankruptcy must be the most difficult word to type more than a couple of times. It just seems wrong the more you type it. I had to keep using the spell check to be sure.
Sometimes it seems we can't control our debts and are about to spiral into a debt crisis. The Debt Snowball method lets you pay off debts in a planned stepwise manner.
