My friends know me as “J”… I am a part-time business consultant, and full-time freelance writer, editor, published author of technical, travel, and business articles, fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, and Editor of Bay & Delta Yachtsman magazine.

In 2006, I took an extended sabbatical from my career in the outdoor recreation and marina industry to sail my sloop, SEVENTH HEAVEN, (later re-christened, LOCATION) around the world. While I never completed the planned circumnavigation, I spent several years "commuter cruising" the inside coast of Baja, and in 2009 set off on a year-long, single-handed journey on the Sea of Cortez… In the end, I sailed LOCATION, single-handed, back up the Pacific coast of Baja to Southern California with an extensive journal and photo portfolio of my adventures. Excerpts from this journal and ship’s log are posted on HubPages in my short memoir series Sailing on the Edge, and in the continuing series, Sailing the Sea of Cortez.

I am currently the Editor of the Bay & Delta Yachtsman magazine, and was recently a Contributing Editor for the California Writers Club – Tri-Valley Writers, 2015 anthology, Word for Word. My poems, essays, and stories have been published in Sea Magazine, Latitude 38, The Log, Eclectica Magazine, The MacGuffin, Park & Recreation Trades magazine, and elsewhere. Some of my writing has been published under the pen name James McV. In between my regular work I am also working on a novel and a book of short stories.
