Stacie, most of us here on HubPages are probably in awe of your quick production of quality hubs.   I would love to put out a few more per day, but I think the quality would suffer.  Actually, since I am only in 10th place, I have to put out a great big congratulations to everyone that is in the running and winning so far!  Its been a lot of fun. and a great learning experience!

HubTeam- I'm having problems with my latest hub. I think the poem is setting off the duplicate checker. The other info is mine,  so I'm just assuming that the poem is setting it off. I redited the other stuff just to make sure. I'm just curious if this can be checked before 72 hours.

It appears too much of it is non-original. You should consider replacing the Shakespearean sonnet with one of your own, or add substantially more of your own writing.

Thanks Jason. I'm not a big fan of posting my own poems online, but I'll see if I can figure something out. When I'm done, should I just re-flag it?

I had asked a question earlier but got no response. I want to find out is the poetry stage can include the authors of poetry.

  5. Whitney05 profile image82
    Whitney05posted 17 years ago

RLANDA- you should be abel to write about poets. just remember the tag "poetry."

Also, Jason, I just wrote a goofy poem to replace the Shakespeare one. I re-flagged the hub.

    Hey everyone,

So poetry must have been a popular topic - 74 valid, eligible entries for the day! Topics and styles ran the gamut, all very interesting. Today we have Bob Ewing acting as our judge. He'll have to choose a winner and runner-up among these 5 finalists:

    1. Pop Music Poetry by stephhicks68
    2. Poet in New York by helenathegreat
    3. Five Poetry Writing Exercises by Stacie Naczelnik
    4. The Bulletin and Bush Poetry by Hovalis
    5. 3000 Years of Peace: The Best Anti-War Poetry, Art, and More by kerryg

Hopefully we'll hear from Bob within an hour. Sit tight...and have fun with today's topic, "pets"!

    Hi everyone,

Bob has taken a look at the finalists and has this to say:

"This was not easy but the following hubs stood out:

Poet in New York (by helenathegreat) the winner

The Bulletin and Bush Poets (by Hovalis) the runner up."

Congratulations to helenathegreat, who wins 5 bonus points. The leaderboard and scoreboard have been updated and Stacie Naczelnik is the leader with 74 points!

Okay, everyone, pets yielded 49 valid Hubs. Great stuff, although many skirted near purely-personal territory (which is considered Substandard). Remember to ask yourself - would anyone ever go to Google and search for the topic you've written about? (If they don't know you from a hole in the wall, would they they search on the title of your Hub?)

So among the 49 entries today, I had the unenviable job of whittling down the entries to just 5 finalists. Here they are:

    1. Should You Crop and/or Dock Your Dog? by helenathegreat
    2. Tips for Boarding Your Cats by Stacie Naczelnik
    3. Famous Ship's Cats by Hovalis
    4. Animal-human Marriages by positiveminded
    5. Best Pets for Small Children by Whitney05

Let's see what Jake from MoreMerchant.com has to say - he's today's judge.

Good luck, everyone, with today's topic of BOOKS.

I admit, guilty as charged.  I did take the liberty of bragging on my pets.  It was much more personal than competitive.  I won't be offended if I miss out on the point.

We haven't heard from Jake at MoreMerchant yet.

I'll update the leaderboard & scoreboard without the 5 pt winner for the time being, and then when (if?) Jake gets back to me I'll update it again.

Look for updated scores in about 5 minutes.

All right, everyone - Jake from MoreMerchant.com had this to say:

So 5 pts goes to Whitney05, who, with 70 pts, is in 2nd place to Stacie Naczelnik's 78 points!

But, seriously, I'm never the problem. I'm here primed with about six windows refreshing every 5 seconds at 11:59. Neither is the actual person hosting the clue. It's consistently been platform issues, proving that man is still superior to machine. smile
