I just received notification regarding my submission.

    Hi Brenda,

This is a gorgeous poem, and fits the theme perfectly. I'm happily including it in Stories & Poems in the Song of Life. Thank you for submitting it.

    Warmest Regards,

    Steve

    So, I'm in.  Yeah

Congratulations on the lovely acceptance note! Have you ever considered publishing your own eBook of poems? It seems a shame to let someone else publish your poem (or poems) when they will make money from the publication but don't offer any payment to you.

I can understand publishing at times without a fee for satisfaction, publicity, or for a good cause, but I think it would be nice if you earned more money from your efforts.

        Linda
Thank you for your kind words.
If I held out for payment all the time, then my words would not get out there.
I have often thought about publishing my own book, but I have been advised against doing so from a reputable book company.

I've been trying to wait & follow their guidelines, but sometimes when I realize how short life really is...I think I should change my mind and start publishing away.

So yes, right now...at this moment...I have been tossing the idea back around.

        Time will tell.

        Thank you so much.

Nice to note that they have accepted the poem for publishing. Meanwhile as Linda also suggested, you can consider going for publishing your book(s) through kindle desktop publishing (KDP). I did it and found the process quite easy. You have to learn a bit of formatting or conversion from doc to pdf or epub etc and that is done. Don't forget to include Kindle version also because that is which most of the people subscribe nowadays.
Feel free to ask for any doubts as there are many writers here who are self publishing their works from so many online agencies.
All the best and have a nice time.

Hey, Brenda, guess what! I just got mine accepted as well! Thank you so much for the information and the wonderful tip. It helped me to write this piece.
As for self-publishing, yes that would be a great thing but the way I see it, who is going to buy it unless I am a well-known author or poet or spend a lot of money on marketing. So having my work accepted in anthologies or my work published alongside other authors has a different charm and satisfaction. If my work is good, money will follow, hopefully!

    1. Brenda Arledge profile image81

      Farah
Congratulations!  I'm so happy my suggestion helped you with this one.

As for the marketing...you are right.
That's the reason I've been following the advice I've been given.
It would be great to get a few books published...but this publisher tells me it's best to have a great following first.
Then they do all the work.

      Time will tell.

Congratulations again!  I'm happy for you.

Congratulations, Farah! I agree with the idea that it's not worth publishing a book if someone is a relatively unknown poet, but if many people are interested in their work I think it's worth considering.

Thank you so much, dear AliciaC! Yes, I agree with you on that. If an author already has followers then most definitely it is wiser to go for self-publication, but writing for others or in compilations, once in a while, might just widen that follower list. My opinion was stated mainly for new writers. As for experienced writers like Brenda, yes she should start working on her book, while such submissions can follow alongside that. I think of it as a good marketing strategy!

    Hi Everyone,

I also submitted a poem and it got accepted. smile My previous experience with him was unpleasant because he did not respond to me. So I was really hesitating to submit my work again. My emails, I believe, ended up in his spam folder. It's funny! I emailed him using my primary email address and received no response, so I emailed him again using my brother's email address, and he responded. I also informed him about my previous submissions.

My poem had 30 lines, so he asked if I am willing to cut 5 lines and resubmit it. I edited and resubmitted it. Here is his response:

    Hi Misbah,

I'm so glad you sent this revision because I loved it because it is worded so wonderfully and knew it was a really good fit for this anthology, but I needed to follow my own guidelines.I am happily including it in Stories & Poems in the Song of Life. I wish you had sent me an email inquiring about your submissions to A Love Letter (or Poem) So . . .I'm so sorry I missed the opportunity to read and consider them.

    Warmest Regards,
    Steve Carr

So I visit your profile and had a read.                                     As a student of biology, I had an interesting read. One thing that baffled me is why should the females resort to cannibalizing the male species among themselves? Are the females bi-sxexual, and self-propagating I brainstorm. You provide the answer.
