There was a terrorist attack in Mumbai today killing 80 people and injuring about 240 people. I request my friends here to pray for the victims and their families. May their be peace and calm in these difficult times.
Yes, many prayers need to be sent that way- I also wrote a hub about this. There are helpful links for those looking for updates, family, etc,
It's just awful.
http://hubpages.com/_HubLink/hub/Terror … mbai-India
I hope your loved ones are safe. It is a terrible stress to be away from your homeland when you know others who may be suffering. May peace prevail to push back the hate and violence.
Very sorry to hear of this attack.
Thanks for posting this here...
Terrorism at it's peak...Let's hope Police and Military do the best!
I also hope all the people who are still being held as hostages are released and those who are helping them don't suffer casualties. May their be a quick and smooth return to normalcy.
Just saw in the news that a young commando just 28 yrs old from Kerala who led the operation at the Taj was killed .Such a waste of a brave and selfless life.He belongs to Kozhikode. Our hearts go out to his parents and family and we salute our brave HERO.
Our heartfelt condolences to his family and many others like him who have died in action fighting this mindless terrorism.
My prayers are with the victims and their families of this terrorist attack in Mumbai.
God bless
Mike
Mike,
Prayers from kind souls like you would surely help and hopefully things get back to normalcy soon.
Countrywomen, My prayers have gone for those lost and the loved ones that was effected. It hurts my heart when something like this happens as Ilost very close friends as well in 09/11 so our world does not need anymore sorrow.
Dorsi/Rochelle/AEvans,
Thanks for all your prayers. All my family and friends are safe. The schools/offices have been closed and large scale investigation is going on behind the motive & the modus operandi. We all need the help and support of each other to tide over these troubled times.
Prayers and good thoughts for those who were lost, their families, and for those who are still awaiting word.
Pray for those that have suffered at all in these, and other sensless attacks on the innocent, who have nothing to do with the conflict, or the cause of any conflict. Pray also for the return of tolerance, peace and sanity for all countries.
This time they have come to direct, daring attack...Shame on protection! Still no clear idea about what those stupid terrorists want from Indians?!
Marian/Rodney/dingdong,
There is a hot line open for all those who are yet to hear a word about the safety of their friends/family members. Not sure of the intentions of these attackers. Heard they have taken some hostages in the hotel and want some terrorists to be freed. But as Rodney prayed we need "tolerance, peace and sanity for all countries". Amen.
We need the Prayers and good wishes from all over the World. This terrorist attack on India’s Financial Capital Mumbai was a well planned one and already has caused so much damage. Please pray for the safety of the Hostages and people here at Mumbai.
Anamika- I hope you and your family/friends are safe. We need all the prayers we can get for the hostages to be released at Mumbai.
Sadly India lost a Anti-Terrorist Officer - Ashok Kamte - who was an excellent negotiator and was killed during the open firing when he tried to rescue another Inspector who was being hijacked by the terrorists.
Kamte, a 1989 batch IPS officer of Maharashtra cadre, who died fighting terrorists near Mumbai's Metro cinema, was one of the brightest of his batch, and one of the few officers who dared to take on challenges directly.
It is a terrible shame that great people are often the victims in these cases, I'm very sorry about what is happening in Mumbai and my thoughts are with anyone who is affected
Shinu- Thanks for that information. I pray for Ashok Kamte and all those other people who died in action and their families.
Thanks junkster for your prayers.
My thoughts are with all who have lost loved ones and with all the people who were nearby who somehow lost the feeling of security in just plain life... How is one to function in an environment that is filled with terror such as this. When you look at a loved one and do not want to let them out of your sight for terror that you will never see them again. What horrific act one human can do to another.
I'm so so very sad for all of you, wishing from the deepest of my heart that you may soon find peace again
kindest regards Zsuzsy
Zsuzsy - Yes indeed it is shocking how low one human being can get against another human being. We may sometimes be worse than animals who only kill for food but we harm each other mindlessly. With prayers and best wishes from souls like you still there is hope. Life will go on and soon hopefully things will be back to normal.
Yes, I think the police, army, and navy are better than the politicians who just sit in front of TV and watch terrorist activities go live.
I pray for the souls of those people who have died in this shameless act. May God give them rest in heaven. I praise the security officers who have died in this attack. They are the real heroes.
To a certain extent you are right we may not have the political will to take on tough decisions. I pray for all those who died in action and their families.
Thanks Bob for keeping us all in your thoughts. We need your prayers and blessings from almighty to wade through safely in this time of crisis.
My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Mumbai and India today. The footage of this awful attack that I saw on TV last night was shocking. We are indeed our brother's keepers--may God help us all.
Robie - What did you mean by "We are indeed our brother's keepers". Yes the fire burning footage on Taj Hotel is disturbing. We all need to unite against the forces which want to spread fear, hatred and distrust. Let their be peace and happiness in this world.
ooops sorry-- it was a biblical reference to the story of Cain and Abel. The book of Genesis tells how Cain murdered his brother Abel and when God asked him( knowing that Cain had murdered his brother) "where is your brother/" Cain replied " Am I my brother's keeper?"
I guess I meant to say: Violence is as old as humankind--but at the same time we are all brothers and sisters and children of the same God. I am so sorry about what is going on in Mumbai and I pray that it will end soon.
Robie- Thanks for the explanation. I learnt something new today. Yes I agree we all are children of the same loving God and shouldn't be taking to violence. I also hope things return back to normalcy soon.
CW,yes we are sitting here shell shocked, unable to comprehend the madness. In the days to come the detailed stories of horror and tragedy will unfold..I shudder to think of all the trauma people have to go through for no reason.I just read that 2 terrorists ran up to the maternity wards on the 4th and 5th floors of Cama Hospital where 25 women with their babies and 3 men locked themselves from inside and refused to open in spite of threats from the terrorists. Then the terrorists went up to the terrace of the hospital & killed 3 police men.Shocking! Imagine targeting women in maternity wards! Is there a more base mentality?Yes we do have to pray for peace for our country and for whole world as well !
Laila- That is the worst crime a mother with new born baby being targeted by those terrorists. I remember in Mahabharat Uttara praying to Lord Krishna to protect unborn parikshit from the brahmastra. I pray to the same Lord Krishna to protect those women and babies from these terrorists.
I don't think I have ever heard of anything as bad as this!! Mothers and newly born babies - how brave were they all - we have been seeing on the news reports about all those local people going about their business being mowed down; plus young Australians who although they have escaped being shot! - are still terrified in Moombai - please God they get out - but the big unanswered question is why and who are these terrorists? - I guess once again it is religious based? will the world ever have the pleasure of enjoying peace in our times...
Ajcor,
I myself was shocked and no brand of religion advocates such a treatment against new born babies and mothers in the maternity wards. But having said that I feel these people who commit such acts do a great disservice to the very religion for which they claim to lay their lives for. May God give strength to those woman to be brave in these difficult times. We all can only pray and hope things return back to normalcy.
CW
Sorry if you misunderstood me - I didn't think that any religion could ever advocate such a thing - it would have to be people going off on a tangent and doing their own thing in the name of whatever! re. the bravery although looking back I see I didn't specify I was also referring to the 3 brave men who helped them (employees/parents?) ..... Prayers are good CW thanks
Ajcor-
No worries my friend. Yes many brave people have lost their lives. Prayers from good souls like you will certainly not go unanswered and things may return back to normalcy at the earliest.
Ajcor,we are praying for everyones safety. We too do hope that the Australians and other foreign nationals who came to our country do return to their homes safely.Yes,enjoying peace in our times does seem like a distant dream.Anyway, miracles do happen and let us hope for miracles!
I also pray that no more life is shed and everybody get back to their family and friends. Yes, isn't it a surprising that a thing like "peace" which we so take for granted can be the most important ingredient that is missing in these times. Now all that the ordinary citizens can do is wait for the miracles to happen.
Thank you for your words Laila - TG it seems to have come to an end now - and the terrorists subdued - my twin brother has been to Moombai a few times in the last couple of years and he loves your country- wants me to go see for myself. I really hope that you all make a quick recovery ....
Ajcor- While the vast majority of 200 plus dead victims were Indians, at least 22 foreigners are known to have died, including victims from Israel, Germany, Japan, Canada, Australia, Italy, Singapore, Thailand and France. One Briton, Andreas Liveras, was also killed.
Now that this madness is over and I echo your sentiments that I hope we all make a quick recovery.
The audacity of this attack is unbelievable. So cold, callous and destructive. It makes me so sad that people's hearts could ever be filled with so much hate. My prayers are with those affected directly by the attacks and hostage-taking, as well as the wider impact of basically closing down the financial center of India. This time, I hope the good guys get it right and go after and PROSECUTE the perpetrators.
MM- These are tough times but I still hope it doesn't fill the hearts of majority of the people against ordinary innocent muslims who have nothing to do with these violent acts. Usually these people before they are caught commit suicide hence not much prosecution takes place.
9 foreign tourists were killed in the incident( including 1 british citizen or more) and the terrorists were aiming British citizens and US citizens who were at hotels in Mumbai. US , Britain and other European countries are planning to take back their citizens from India, to avoid more loses. This will have an adverse effect on the Tourism in India.
Shinu- Yes I heard they were targetting US&UK tourists in exchange for release of the terrorists as that would put further pressure from these governments on India. It not only affects tourism but also affects business. It will take a while to regain the confidence. May God bless all those who are affected and their families.
There are many unofficial news that this attack was planned by Somalian pirates, who did this as a revenge for Indian Navy Attacking and destroying one of their Ships.
Offficial explanation says that Pakistan is behind the attack. This could mean out broke of another war between the two countries, just like what is happening between LTTE and Srilankan Army.
Both India and Pakistan are Nuclear Powers , That means ................
Yes I heard a ship from Karachi was responsible but not this Somalian angle. Please stop there my friend. I can't even imagine the consequences.
To all who have been affected by this horrific tragedy,
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your families. I also pray this be an isolated attack and that no one else suffer again from these attackers. I send my love to you through my Lord Jesus.
Gods Child- I also hope & pray to that this is an isolated attack and hope for miracles. Amen.
I hope the families in Mumbai can find some peace and comfort in these trying times. It is always sad to hear about such tragic events and we should always keep the thoughts of others near our hearts.
SweetiePie- Peace has become kind of a "luxury" in these times. I hope some medical/psychological counseling is given to the victims and their families to deal with such stress. We all need to stick together against this idea of achieving "any good" through these bad violent means which these terrorists seem to entertain.
Italian chef Emanuele Lattanzi and daughter emerging from the Oberoi Trident in Mumbai after their rescue on Friday. The Child was lucky to get her life back from Bullets and Grenades.
Shinu- Thanks for including the picture as they say "a picture is worth a thousand words". That's such a moving picture. I am happy there was happy ending for some of those hostages but my heart still feels sad for so many others who have suffered and are yet to recover.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their family.
Thanks Refster for your prayers. I hope collective prayers would help in reducing the pain and suffering of the victims and their families.
Now we should pray for the shameless politicians.
May heaven bless them with humanity and wisdom.
Jyoti Kothari
Jyoti- I am sure the politicians could have acted on the intelligence reports but still they can't be totally held responsible for this madness. We all the need the prayers and blessings to tide over these difficult times.
The operation was over when I posted. Politicians did not do enough that's why the home minister had to resign.
