    There be many religious people here that have threatened us with the world ending.  They tell us that we need to repent and some use these as scare tactics.  They seem to think that the Bible tells us the "signs" that the world will end.  There has been posted somewnere on these forums the other dates the world has said it will end and yet it is still around.
    What are you going to do differently when the world does not end in 2012?  How will you feel about the Bible and how you thought and were told about the "end time"?
    Do you have a backup plan when it doesn't end?  How are you going to feel when your Biblical Truth's turn out to be a lie?  How are you ever going to face all those people?

      The question of world not ending does arise at all. God has made it very clear and also we paid a lot of our tax money in science for proving the world to be finished in the near future. With the proof of science that has become a fact now, so no doubts about it. smile

          Paraglider, most religions refer to the big crunch in some way or the other ... and I guess "soon" is a relative term here.

          As for 2012, I hope we will be able to smash through in the same manner in which we defeated Nostradamus.  lol

            The big crunch is hypothetical, if gravity is stronger than the expanding force which doesn't seen to be the case as the universe is expanding.Currently you have only small pockets in the universe which crunch in-Black holes. smile

              i agree that the big cruch is just a theory but you did not mentioned the complete theme of expanding universe theory. The final statements in the expanding universe theory is that there will be a final peak point at which the universe, while expanding, will BURST just like in the case of balloon. So, please do not hide the truth.

      The world won't end in 2012, no one know when the the world will end, but the bible gives us signs to look for. The current generation has more reason then any other generation before us to believe that the the end will occur in our life time.
      Just to name a few,

      1) Many will come in the name of Christ and deceive many (Matt.24,5; Mark 13,6; Luke 21,8)
      Jim Jones and Heaven's Gate many cult leaders claim to be God or Jesus in order to decieve the weak minded, and have lead thousands to their death.

      2) There will be wars and rumours of wars between nations and kingdoms (Matt.24, 6-7; Mark 13,7-8; Luke,21,9-10). WW1 WW2 War on Terror, Gulf War and the everlasting rumor of a future Holy War brought on by the Anti Chirst.

      3) The first sorrows will be in the form of calamities: 'famines, pestilences and earthquakes in divers places', fearful sights and great signs from heaven (Matt.24,7-8; Mark, 13,8; Luke 21,11). Hurricane Katrina, Biggest Earthquake ever in China, Tsunami, Swine Flu, AIDS.

      4) Orthodox Christians will be delivered up, killed and hated by all nations (Matt. 24,9; Mark 13, 9-11; Luke 21,12-15). Miss California is a more recent example, but a lot of non believers on this very site will contribute to this hatred and mockery of Christians

      5) Everywhere men will hate and betray each other (Matt.24,10; Mark 13,12-13; Luke 21,16-17). rise in crime in these hard times, mothers killing their on Children, senseless murder. Rise in Murder/Suicide, Spree killings

      6) And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. " Matthew 24:14 The great protestant reformation was helped by the development of the printing press, finally people could have a copy of the holy scriptures and read the Bible for themselves in their own language. Today, in our time, the everlasting Gospel is being preached around the world via Radio, Television, Internet, DVD's, CD's, Missionaries, and more. In other words everyone on Earth will get a chance to Know God and choose whatever or not to follow his word.

      7)The growth of knowledge would accelerate at the end of time "Knowledge for many years was growing very slowly, but now is growing exponentially. For thousands of years until as recent as 150 years ago, the fastest mode of transportation was on the back of a horse or about 25 mph maximum.   Now mankind has traveled over 25,000 mph on the way to the moon. What a difference! According to Norman Edmund, Founder of the Edmund Scientific Company, with computers and the Internet, the accessibility of information and knowledge is doubling probably every year and will double every 73 days by the year 2020"

      "In the last days ... men shall be lovers of their own selves, ... Without natural affection, ... incontinent, ... despisers of those that are good, ... Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof." 2 Timothy 3:1-5.
      America is in the midst of a tremendous crisis. An epidemic of pornography, crime, illegal drugs, and moral degeneracy is threatening to overwhelm us. Suicide is becoming a popular solution to human problems. Divorce rates are climbing wildly, with nearly one marriage in two ending in the divorce court."

      "The current immoral generation--with its obsession with sex and filth, with its increasing church membership but decreasing true spirituality--is a plain and positive fulfillment of God's Word. For a real shock, see how many of the last-day sins listed in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 you can find depicted in any issue of your Sunday newspaper. Nothing short of the coming of the Lord will stem the tide of evil that is now engulfing the world.
      Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation." 2 Peter 3:3-4" In other words this very forum topic is meant to queastion God and mock those who believe.

        Well number 2 is not right---there have been many wars---The Inquisition, Revolutionary, WW1 and WW2--if I remember correctlt the World Wars were to end all wars and there were romors of and nations against nation.  ALL wars are!

        When the scholars translated some words the mistranslated them---for one it was WORLD and in fact it was correct to translate those as AGE, not world in the Bible concerning the end times.....not the end of the WORLD, but the end of an AGE.

        Number 5---Is there really more of these or just more news coverage of such?

        If the internet is so bad, then why are you using it to spread mis translations on fear?  Jeuss said to live in the moment--not wory about what is to come..so why do you not do as Christ says and not your church doctrine?  Do you know how many mistranslations are in that book and how mny times it has been translated?  Do you know Hebrew or what was written when and when things wer taken out of tht book for the sake of controlling the populous?  Did Jesus really do and say everthing that OTHERS have said he did?  Heresay is not permissible in courts and it is not taken highly in any thing--all the Bible is is heresay.

Oh dear - maybe if you lived a sin free life instead of getting the gospel afterwards?... Who knows? Per marital sex, child out of wedlock, preaching to those who have no need and turning them away from the word of god instead of living it.

Simple fact is - your sins came after jesus tole you about them, yet you chose to do them anyway. Free will = burn in hell forever. Sorry. I pity you - let's move on.

                You don't get out of it that easy. No more excuse - you must pay for what you have done.

                  Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

                  What I can do tell other my story and pray that they learn from my mistakes and seek God first and be forgiven. It simple, but not easy.

        Thanks for the biblical quotes about end times spiderpam but doesn't the book also say that there will be a thousand years of peace then the devil will be let loose to do what he liked with the world for a period of 1000 years? Ok if this were true no-one can deny that last millenium belonged to him. Compared to the 1st and 2nd world war and all the little ones in between the wars of the past while were trivial, the civil war is quoted as being the bloodiest in history. 25 million lives were lost in the 2nd world war alone. As far as diseases-  aids, ebola, resin, hepatitis and the MANY sexual diseases, sars, and the many many viruses that were or are still out there killing people, the millions who have and still are dying of starvation, I could go on and as far as wars the "book" teaches that the 3rd world war will be the war to end ALL wars because it will be his. We all don't have to be scholars to know that as long as there's 2 or more people on this earth there will be wars. If the last millenium wasn't his I'd be terribly worried at what else he could throw at us. And what happened to the thousand years of peace before all these horrible things are to happen or do I have it backwards? Even if I had it backwards given the last millenium shouldn't 2000 to 3000 be the 1000 years of peace? And yet with more technology things get worse for us. There has NEVER in the history of man been even 100 years of peace nevermind a 1000 and as I said once before the whole "book" is either true or it's fiction, you can't pick things you think are true so from the year1000 to 2000 that period most definately belonged to the Devil it's something to think about

      This rumour about 2012 was started when someone sent out a chain email. There was a case back in 1999 when someone sent a mail that bananas from Costa Rica are infected with flesh-eating bateria. It described the mechanism how the bacteria eats up approx. 2 cm human flesh per hour. This mail then spread all over and Costa Rican banana sales fell sharply.

      The Mayan, Hopi and other prophecies that say the world will end in 2012 are not Biblical truth.

      Matthew 24:36 - "But of that day and hour no one knoweth, not the angels of heaven, but the Father alone."

      I'm not saying that we are not close though.  The anti-christ has to sit in the temple as if he were God first (2 Thessalonians 2), then it will be 42 months after that (Revelations 13:5).

      So if we see the anti-christ sitting in the temple by next month there's still a chance for 2012, but I doubt it. smile

But tribulation will come. It is not going to be pretty. Billions people will die. The believers are going to be spared. Are you the believer?

      I don't think any of the biblical information is a lie...but that it is the interpretation by any specific individual that makes the difference.
      The world is ending, in a sense. It is gradually changing to another level of vibratory consciousness. It is raising to a level of greater love...it just looks bad because some souls are fighting the change, or not interpreting change in the most loving ways possible, so it feels 'not good or right' and they react in not good ways, because their ego believes it should be different, and its up to them to make it so.
      The possibilities of how people are viewing the current situation and the future we could create, are as unique as each individual.
      The more most people work in a positive movement toward a more loving change will keep 'all hell from breaking loose' and destroying everything in the physical at once.
      And the most important bit of information is that when we change our sense of the spiritual components of life and not just the mental, emotional and physical/environmental, I mean that if every soul purposefully began to seek a more loving sense of spirituality in their life, desired to become more in alignment with the Order of the Universe of Love and Peace (God's Will), than things would go much more easily into the new level.
      As it is now, there are too many factions that believe only their way is the way, and want to control for the sake of their ego sense of power and greed, or because they believe they know better than others.

      Uh...the world is not going to end.  The Bible points to the return of christ, but not the end of the world...End of life as we know it but not the end of the world.
      Literally in hebrew the world for "heaven" is Olam HaBaa...which means the coming world...or world to come.  According to Jewish theology, this is an extension of this world
      When God took Adam and Eve into the garden, it was to train them to be able to make good from evil choices.  That is why there were two trees they were meant to eat from both...but only after they were ready.  Ready to have the knowledge and say no...and then they would eat from the tree of life and have eternal life.
      Throughout the histroy of the bible, everything was repeated and each time it was perfected in a more perfect manner (this is harder to explain...it would need five hubs to do it).  So the Olam HaBaa is the coming of the new world, or reverting back to the Garden of Eden and what life on earth was meant to be...knowledge and choosing between good and evil and then having eternal life.
      So no, I don't think the world will end, but the opposite.  There was never a beginning to the world so there will never be an end.  There was a beginning to life as we know it with creation and there will be a different end to life as we know it now.

      Alright, even though they claim salvation, organized religion and the God they claim to serve have nothing to do with one another. The 2012 A.D. theory is a Mayan belief, and I gotta tell ya, taking into consideration the science behind this theory. I'll just say that it makes for some pretty interesting reading, if you're into that sort of thing Finally nowhere in the Bible does it speak of the world ending. "Armagedon" leads us into a new age, and we'll still be standing on the same rock. Oh yeah Armagedon (valley of Megido) is the name of a place, not the name of an event that takes place.
      In all I would encourage you to read the Bible and do a little research on this  mayan theory before writing up another half ass post like this.

        Why? They are irrelevant and have absolutely no bearing whatsoever upon this standalone post you made. You chose to start a new thread. You did not "refer" to previous postings on any other. People who read new threads cannot be expected to "research" the motivation of the person who starts them!

      There are more than one you know. Some of them little more than cults I accept, but still......

      Myself? - I am an advocate of FSM - some would say prophet (pbum) - come to sweep away the political religionists - muslimism and christianism.

      Eagerly awaiting your answer - because at least 17 religions to my knowledge call for the end of time 2012.

        I bow to your clearly superior knowledge of different faiths and their ascribed beliefs. I can comment only on one - my own. I am a Presbyterian.

        It is worth noting perhaps, however, that I did not say that the world will or will not end in 2012. I simply stated that the Bible does not make any literal such predictions and that the belief is certainly not part of my religion.

        The point here is regarding Lady Guinevere's misguided posting without reference, least of all substantiation.

      Gordon, I take the 2012 date with a grain of salt just like the Bible. I think the world will end if we want it to, and not if we don't. Christians are just some of the first of recent times to use the end times as a way to build a following. Americans are very end times oriented compared to other countries.

      Does humankind value life enough to help it continue? I think that's the real question the world will face together in the next 100 years or so.

      Firstly, I did not, "Come in to the religious forum." I accessed this post from the main index.

      Secondly, the fact that your friend is indeed misguided is not open to debate. She made what amounts to an extremely offensive post in its standalone context regarding other threads which readers should not necessarily be expected to be aware of. She should either have referred very specifically to same or confined herself to responding to them. I have already covered the scenario of new Hubbers, etc. New threads are viewed in their own right - fact!

      Thirdly, your spare time is entirely outwith my field of interest. The comment was simply in relation to the developing nature of the thread - nothing more. smile

        Firstly, I did not, "Come in to the religious forum." I accessed this post from the main index.

        Was that by the way of the Forums Title at the top of the page on the main Hubpage page?  If so on the side whre the messages are listed it states which forum it is posted in--so you would have to know which forum you were getting into.
        Now no where did I say that I believed these things, but some do and have said so.  For me to take it up with a specific person, I would not make a forum post to allow others to tell us what they believe or have heard.  This is what the forums are for--are they not?
        Pardon me if you think that I am misguided---I would tell the same to others, even new hubbers, that they should go research what they believe and what is being said too.  This seems to go along with some resligiouns who don't want you to search on your own for answers.  You accused me of taking this hub in a certain direction.  It was not being taken anywhere until you first posted your dislike for the things that I have said.
        Mark is busy at the moment and he will get back to you.  When he says he will, you can be sure that he will.  He is on a different time zone than you.  Give him that courtesy and respect.

      I don't care. I will live life as positively as I can and if the world ends 12 Midnight, Jan 1, 2012, so be it.

      If not, so be it.

      The only things I know for sure about 2012 is...

      It follows 2011.
      It's a leap year.
      It's a year of the Dragon (my Chinese Zodiac sign).

      Far as I'm concerned, that's good enough. I can't control if the world ends or not, not gonna get all uptight over it whether it ends or doesn't or keeping up when the next predicted date is.

    According to my Religious upbringing, no one know the time or date but God himself.  I have read the book about the world ending in 2012 and even the book for dummies on that subject. Alot of formulations come from that book bases on science. It is a very popular belief.  Either way there is nothing we can do about it.  I must add that I do hoard or save constantly Medical supplies, antibiotic ointment and herbs not because i think the world will "end" in 2012 but simply because we never know, no one knows.  Spend your days being positive, do unto others, and in general be a good person.  That's all we can do.

    When they interpreted the Mayan Prophesy of the end, and the same goes for the Biblical, the word world was used intead of AGE ending.  A big difference doncha think?

    Then if you sing or say the Christian Doxology it says at the end---"World WITHOUT End, Amen".  How many people miss this and still cling to the world ending.  It is becasue they would rather think that the world ending will take care of all their mistakes and all those people they HATE (yes Hate) will be taken care of.  It is a cop-out.  When the world does not end--who are they going to worship then and just how many know how to really forgive and become self-responsible for their own actions and not blame someone else?

    Whatever starts - ends. Unless it's eternal. This world has a beginning, and WILL end. Some "believe" soon, some "believe" in millions of years. Our rationalist friends remind us of scientific theories and knowledge all the time. Astronomy teaches that stars have a "life cycle", too. So, if the sun ends, so will our world.
    In another sense, the world has already ended (several hundred times). By that, I am refering to the world as a "society" or culture, not the physical matter we are made of/in. The world of the people even 50 years ago is gone.

      If this earth is destroyed we and it will only be someplace and doing something else.  We never die or cease to exist, we only change..............and that is wehre these people whom fear everything are coming from.......the hate change--any kind.  Only they don't realize it but you cannot, ever stop changing.
      If the world ends, who will God govern and what will he do and who will he punish?  Do any of you think for one second that God would just get rid of his "chess board" and have absolutely nothing to do with his time?  Do you really think we are his only substenance?  Are we the only reason that he lives?

    Here's is another version for you that was before the version you are using,
    John 3:
    11`Verily, verily, I say to thee -- What we have known we speak, and what we have seen we testify, and our testimony ye do not receive;

    12if the earthly things I said to you, and ye do not believe, how, if I shall say to you the heavenly things, will ye believe?

    13and no one hath gone up to the heaven, except he who out of the heaven came down -- the Son of Man who is in the heaven.

    14`And as Moses did lift up the serpent in the wilderness, so it behoveth the Son of Man to be lifted up,

    15that every one who is believing in him may not perish, but may have life age-during,

    16for God did so love the world, that His Son -- the only begotten -- He gave, that every one who is believing in him may not perish, but may have life age-during.

    17For God did not send His Son to the world that he may judge the world, but that the world may be saved through him;

    18he who is believing in him is not judged, but he who is not believing hath been judged already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

    ~~~~~~~~
    Does this make it clearer to you how twisted the Bible can and is.  This is only one other version ad there be many other version and even changed and thing taken away in the 6th, 8th and 15th Centuries.  No one today has the original version or the entire books and "SOME" have had blinders put on about what is part of the Bible and what is not.
I'm just here until it's over.  I can't change it, so why worry about it.
    Since 2012 is my specialty i feel a need to add my two cents here.
    Anyone who has taken the time to study the many predictions and prophecies that revolve around 2012 will have made the connection between cyclical based religions and linear based religions. The work of those who claim 2012 to be the end of the Mayan calendar baktun cycle does have some merit but it is a longshot.
    What is 2012 anyway? The list is long...it's 3113BC to 2012 AD and a conversion of linear time to cyclical time represented the end of the baktun cycle. Therefore an end and a new beginning. It's one of five ages that adds up to the 26000 year cycle the precession of the equinox..the wobble of the earth. It's the second phase of the 2004 and 2012 venus transit. It's the possible coming wrath of solar cycle 24. It's the alignment of core of the milky way galaxy and another transit which involves the solar system, the constellation Ophiucus and the core of the rift. It's the possibility that certain energies will travel along that channel and "drug, hypnotize, alter the consciousness of humanity" into something paranormal. It's the possibility that Aliens will be able to use some sort of stargate that only opens up every 13000 or 26000 years and return to complete a war in heaven, which in my opinion is a war from the neighbors of Ophiucus; the serpentine twin constellation of Serpens Cauda and Serpent Caput.
    In that case it's a return of overlords of the heavens and they will be around for as long as the stargate is open.
    But 2012 is absolutely nothing until it happens.
    I don't think it is the end of the world but it might be the apocalypse and the rise of the darkside, or the zeitgeist of Tezcatlipoca, the arch enemy of Quetzalcoatl. Therefore a war of spirit that culminates in the elimination of a vast number of humans.
    The battle is a feast and if the spirit of Gabriel or Michael calls out the spirit of Lucifer then the latter will defend is overlord status.
    And if 2012 is that then 2013 is the beginning of the golden age of the Satya Yuga or divine time of harmony of the Brahma.
    Cyclical calendars are closer to untime and the supernatural than linear civil calendars that work to arrest humanity to do the bidding of the pretentious overlords.
    But that just my opinion.....
    The only doomsday prediction that worries me is the Mayan one. Whether you believe them or not, fact is there are so many things that can cause a doomsday scenario and we can't predict much of that.
    Shifting of the Earth's magnetic poles is one. But that apart, there might be numerous physical phenomena that happen in the Universe that we are not yet aware of. Black holes - we keep discovering them all over the place - some much closer to comfort. So, who knows??
    While one can be dismissive of doomsday predictors - one can't get away from the fact that our existence on this Earth is fragile - we are hoping nothing bad happens. But, its just as likely that something bad could happen.
    Hopefully, humans would have mastered space travel and would have discovered new habitable worlds before we are threatened with extinction. It would be sad to go with no record of us having existed on this Earth.
    Animals have spirit....a spirit that draws them to their own kind. It's intuitive. They don't have freedom of choice as far as i know which sets them apart from humans in the grandeur spirit of oneness.
    I think i understand "sin" today like i have never before. Someone mentioned tangent a few posts ago. Sin is good in a sense since it allows humans to experience life away from the perfect center of truth. Truth is undeniable and as Walt Whitman so well put it, "nature knows not words and nature never lies". We all fly off on tangents and it helps us learn, those with conscience quickly make amends and return to the center but never for long. Those who are without conscience take sin to the extreme of tangents and render nature to her most chaotic form. But nature never lies and even Lucifer who is the most far off on a tangent eventually loses the battle to the Archangels and the spirit of time regresses to harmony. The perfect harmonics of the cosmos is attained for a time but the cycle repeats itself....over and over and over and over again..
    It's the same for the macro environment as it is for the micro environment.
    After all in the grandest of pictures it is oneness.
      Lucifer is a made up myth and was used to explain some of the atrocities of nature when men were the real perpetrators.  Kind of like an excuse and then religions saw a use for it to control everyone.
      Now I was a bit taken aback when I first read the beginning of you post, but then thought about the nature and how it never lies---it doesn't hold the trith to iself and make everyone veleive the same as someone else either and it doesn't hide anything and tell others that it is the ONLY way.
      You wuld be wrong concerning animals don't go with others not ther kind--evelution teaches something different---and maybe that is why religiouns don't like evolution---because it evolves into other things in nature---but then you say nature doesn't lie.  Humans don't goe with other species either, but they do go with differnt sects of their own kind, same as dogs and cats and some others.
      Sin is the supression of knowing and it was only used by religions.  It's like God (not his real name so you can't take that in vain) saying we aren't good enough.........then again that is wrong becasue God name everything good--EVERYTHING----no sin until man couldn't understand why things went wrong.  They really didn't go wrong because without the wanting to know more---none of this would even be here to begin with.  Therefore there can be no end because until everyone learns and seeks and finds and does all the What If's it will continue to go on and on and on.....
      God won't end it becasue it was not in his contract to do so.  It is MAN who thinks these things becaue they think that they can do all the harm to another and then God will step in and clean it all up by destroying it all---what a joke!!  He didnt do it, we did and we have to clean it up.
      So what are you going to do when he doesn't clean up your mess?
    Once again this proves what I've been saying about religion, all you people r arguing about the world ending in 2012. Where do you get this information unless its science as the BIBLE I've read states that the lord will come "like a thief in the night" as to when NO_ONE knows according to the "book" not even He. MAN will be this worlds undoing NOT God that I can guarantee. And for the record the Bible says God will never destroy the earth again so I'm assuming when you refer to the world ending you mean the people
    I don't feel like quoting the whole thing you said Lady Guinevere but i guess in the end it's all a personal choice we make....
    The other day i had an major argument with a bill collector. Her reason for doing that particular job was that it made her feel like a part of society. "A contributor to society" as she put it. To me that type of work is a contribution to "the demise of society". But she believes she is doing right by one spirit and i believe i am doing right by telling her to stick her bill up her asp...snakes bug me!!!!
    I figure the end game is that i'll never borrow money from a bank again since my name is mud....but to me that's a good thing since it makes me work harder at finding ways to earn money...not adsense money...enough money through ventures that do take subjective opinion out of the game.
    At which point i can tell the government and the banks to stick there allowances up their asp....that's my way of fighting suppression, socialism, and fascism.....
    To me it isn't about God or Jesus Christ as much as it is about the spirit of time or the zeitgeist.
    For every human being, the world ends when he dies. He cant see the so-called end of the world. Other than our own end,  all the fuss about "big-bang" and other things will turn out to be farcial. As far as the earth rotates around the sun with the same speed (one full self-rotation in 24 hours and 365 days around the sun) earth will exist. If and when the speed of the earth is disturbed or lowered, there will be some strange happenings, that may be the end! That is why scientists become nervous during solar and lunar eclipse. So, the world may end any time and human beings have no say in the destiny of earth. It will be natural only. It has no divine links.
    You are not far from the truth madmac, we are living in the 1000 years that you speak of right now.  John Nelson Darby basically corrupted the idea of the 1000 year period around the 1830's with his idea of Dispensationalism.  Most of the TV evangelists and some denominations are following one form or another of Darby's Dispensationalism, with either post-tribulation premillennialism, pre-tribulation premillennialism or postmillennialism.  The traditional belief of the 1000 year period has always been a symbolic millennium covering the time from the first coming of Jesus Christ until His second coming, or in Dispensationalism terms some would referred to it now as Amillennialism.  Jesus Christ's first coming was for mercy, the next will be for judgment.  Jesus opened the gates of heaven and cast the devil into the bottomless pit with His sacrifice on the cross, otherwise we wouldn't stand a chance against the devil.  Although the devil will be let loose for a short period of time before the second coming (Revelations 20:3).
    All life is programmed to live and reproduce itself not to wish for an end! It is suicidal thinking wanting the world to end and worse than that it is wishing to take everyone and everything else with you!
    It is obvious that the majority of people and all animals do not want the world to end or if they did they would be killing themselves now!
    I am sure this has been addressed, but in case it hasn't (as I had no intention of reading almost two hundred of these), the 2012 end of world stuff is definitely not biblical.  (well, I shouldn't say definitely, I haven't made it all the way through genesis, ever).  Its in reference to the Mayans (or possibly Aztecs? I think its Mayans) having produced and astonishingly accurate calendar up to the year 2012.  Now what was accurate, I'm not sure, I think it has to do with astrology and lunar cycles).  Their date keeping simply stops, without explanation.  This suggests to some that they stop because there is no time after that.  I personally don't believe this is true.
    I suppose the religious response is that the world does indeed end as determined in Revolutions.   Let me reiterate, the Christian religious response, as I believe other religions undoubtedly have different types of views on the subject.  I am not religious, as mentioned I haven't read the bible, however, it depends greatly on what exactly you mean by the world ending.  According to some it is "the world as we know it" and that it has already occurred.  Some give specific occurrence, usually associated with WWII (though given the reasoning behind that, I would suggest that WWI more appropriate for that logic).  I would say that the world has changed from the world we know it at least dozens, more likely hundreds of times since the canonization of the bible. Ultimately, either biblically or scientifically, the earthbound world will come to an end.  It is inevitable.  I'm not too worried about it being in so much as this millennium, scientifically speaking, and I have no opinion biblically.
    Old Catholic prayers were used for teaching.  Even those that couldn't read could understand.  Here's one that fits this thread.
    Glory be to the Father,
    and to the Son,
    and to the Holy Spirit.
    As it was in the beginning,
    is now,
    and ever shall be,
    world without end.
    Amen.
    This era shall end but the world will never end.  This can be verified with Revelation 21:1, 2 Peter 3:13, Isaias 65:17, and Isaias 66:22.
