Vacation Job Opportunities for students

Though vacation time is meant for fun and relaxation, it is not necessary that students should waste time indulging in frivolous activities. Students can use the vacation time productively and profitably by availing a short-term vacation job which are available aplenty in India. Though vacation job is of short duration, it will keep you occupied for at least 4-5 hours a day. If you are willing to work for more hours, it will be still better and you can also earn more money.

It is common knowledge that during summer vacations, a plethora of exhibitions, sales displays and annual fairs takes place in most Indian cities. These events offer a whole lot of job opportunities and although these jobs are only temporary, they carry attractive emoluments.

The nature of jobs in these shows will invariably be demonstrating products, registrations of customers, booking orders, selling goods across the counters etc. If it is corporate event of importance, you can earn anything between Rs 1000 to Rs 1500 per day. Other exhibitions also offer decent salaries on a daily basis. Many social service organizations and NGOs organize special campaigns during summer months and they provide lot of temporary jobs to students who are willing to work with passion.

Marketing companies that organize time-bound special sales drives prefer college students as they are expected to be young, agile go-getters and willing to accept short duration jobs.

Students also prefer vacation jobs because it helps them gain work experience which will stand them in good stead when they finish their education and get into the employment market. One of the best jobs open for college-going students is a call center job. At call centers, the only skill required is proficiency in English. There are also other short-term computer-oriented jobs for students like data entry jobs, web designing jobs, SEO jobs, content writing jobs, web research jobs, etc.

Most corporate houses and chartered accountancy firms have heavy work pressure in during the months of April and May due to annual closing of accounts. For students studying B.Com or M.Com courses, these jobs will prove an ideal fit.

Students studying in hotel management institutes can accept short-term jobs in star hotels and gain valuable career-oriented experience. Please know most hotels have a rush of guests during holiday season and would want additional staff on temporary basis. The students in short-term hotel jobs can earn about Rs.25 per hour and usually their shift is four-five hours a day.

Many professional agencies conduct door-to-door market surveys during summer months to obtain market information statistics and details about customer preferences. These agencies will prefer students who are young and can do a lot of running around. They will be paid handsomely and in proportion to the number of calls they make in a day.

Many private coaching institutes require part-time teachers to teach students for competitive exams. Senior college students can find these jobs satisfying and they can also earn handsomely. Summer vacation for a college student therefore need not mean just lazing around at home or partying with friends but the right time to gain some work experience and earn good money. Today, even the attitude of most students is changing and they are interested in making some quick money and looking for short-term jobs.
