Congrats Lissie.
Stacie it's getting close.. What to do. What to do.
I wish someone would solve the clue already! Ugh. I've given up. I think we should all start guessing. Ha.
I'm tapped on this clue, guys.. I've got one guess left, but everything is all jumbled because of the sheer number of comments. Maybe someone will figure it out during the night so when I wake up in the morning I can churn out some hubs.
I'll be gone for the clue unveiling (grandfather's birthday dinner). I hope to see it unveiled by the time I return. ;-)
I'm hoping that I'll be able to hub tonight, not too late. My little cousin has to stay until her mom gets off work at 10. So, it'll either be a late night or limited hubs. :-( I just hope it's an easy clue.
I tip my hat to you, Angela, I thought I may edge ahead of you today, so worked my little tookus off, but you popped in just before deadline with a whole bunch of awesome recipes. That'll teach me to sleep in! LOL
Today was fun, guys. Let's keep it rolling with a fast clue solving today and a great topic.
See you guys when the day's winner is announced! Good luck all!
Gamergirl, I was sweating it the last few minutes. I hadn't published most of the hubs yet because I wanted to add more photos. If you could have been a fly on the wall at my house this morning, it would have been comical. I woke up late, the time had changed, and my internet decided to be wonky. I was cranking those babies out, but I was scared.
Here we are folks, 5 finalists from among the many entrants done in record time! (Over 6 hrs to solve the day's clue, and we lost an hour due to the changeover to Daylight Savings Time):
1. Cranberries – History and Recipes by Chuck
2. How to Make Flavored Vinegars by Angela Harris
3. Kids Tea Party Planning Ideas by Stacie Naczelnik
4. How To Make Homemade Salad Dressing by Blogger Mom
5. Carmel Jacks Recipe by LiamBean
Congratulations to the finalists - Mr Fabulous from Pointless Drivel will be the judge.
Cool! It will be hard to judge - I saw some great recipes!
No kidding, Steph! I now have a huge recipe folder thanks to HP and this topic! LOL. It took a lot to keep up with all the posted hubs trying to write hubs, then checking the hubtivity. A couple of times, I thought I wouldn't ever catch up! Thanks for all the great hubs, folks! And I sure hope I haven't missed any!
Bonnie
I agree Bonnie. I love to cook and I found a new recipe as well - I cannot wait to try it (from gamergirl). You never know what you learn on HubPages!
http://hubpages.com/hub/Chicken-BBQ-Casserole
Awww Marlo!! I was really hoping one of my recipes would make it into the top five, but that's house I feel every day. I really hope that recipe works out well for you, and you've -got- to tell me how it goes, I'll make sure and let my mom know.
I will let you know, and I was surprised none of yours made it - I thought they were really great. And I was sad too b/c I wrote 3 myself - none made it to the top 5 and I did not win the $100, oh well...not even my grandma's meatloaf recipe, and I even tried to add humor to my other two recipes - oh well.
Hey everyone,
Mr Fab has spoken, and he has spoken concisely:
Congratulations to Chuck; 15 bonus pts goes to him, as well as 3 to Mystic Biscuit for yesterday's clue bonus. Congratulations are in order for Stacie for being the best-Hub runner-up, and Blogger Mom, for figuring out the clue.
The leaderboard & scoreboard have been updated - Stacie Naczelnik retains her lead with 250 pts, with Whitney05 close behind with 247.
And for the daily drawing? The laws of probabilities seem to reward those who publish the most. Today's winner of the random drawing is:
Whitney05!
Good luck everyone on today's topic...once that's been determined!
Points for guessing the clue should go to Mystic Biscuit instead of me. I wish!
Whoops, I misread your message. Thanks for the congrats.
Very cool! Way to go Chuck and Whitney! Stacie - I loved your Hub, too. It must have been a hard contest to judge!
I did a little math, even if I write ten hubs a day for the remainder of the contest, win every day and get every clue, I'd still only have 401 points. Now, let's just say Stacie only writes ten hubs a day and doesn't win any, doesn't get any clues right, and same for Whitney. That'd still put me in third.
There isn't anyone who is going to beat out Whitney or Stacie now in points, unless these ladies go batty and get a new jacket in the next day or two.. and I'm not wishing anything like that on anyone in this contest, just saying.
So, from here on out, everyone root for one of those two!
Everyone who has participated in the contest has done super, so congratulations all around.
Can't wait to see what April's contest is going to be like.
I am done too, it is between Stacie and Whitney, and they are even two of the three winners for the $100 so far. Wow! I do not think I have a chance to win that either. Looking forward to a new game in April. I agree, everyone did super...it was hard to catchup if you did not start in the very beginning.
I like them both, so it's going to be hard to choose a favourite. But I've always been a sucker for the underdog.
In Australia the term 'root' has an entirely different connotation
I think you should root for both of us.
Hey, Hub Team! What happens if we tie on the last day?
April will be different. This has been way too exhausting. Something different. Good. But different. "Pass the Baton", an idea for the next contest, will have to wait until May or June.
Jason, I hope so. I agree way to exhausting!
Congrats Chuck great hub. And go me for getting pulled.
I want to say congrats to everyone for being great hubbers this past month. We've all worked hard.
Oh and I've been to dinner and Petsmart for rat bedding, and no one has gotten the clue. Pooh...
If I don't lose my job by this coming Friday at the end of the HubLove contest, then I've definitely "won the contest." LOL. I hope that future contests are shorter! But equally competitive. Yes, I figured that it would come down to Whitney and Stacie. Go, go, go!!!

Congratulations, Chuck, Stacie, Mystic Biscuit, and Whitney! Did I miss anybody?
It looks like you all have had much fun while I was stuck in a blizzard for 3 days. No ice, though, only lots of snow. And no Internet access. LOL All the malls and Internet cafes even closed up.
Congratulations to all the winners!
Could "politics" also refer to: "The Politics of Contraception" or "The Politics of Rape" or "Office Politics"?
Good question Stacie!
I was thinking it would be hard for me to do 10 on politics in terms of politicians and law.
I second Stacie's question.
To answer questions:
1 - If there is a tie at the end, it will be broken by HubScore at noon (it says this in the rules). Seeing as both Stacie & Whitney are at 99, we'll just have to see...
2 - Stacie - yes, those are okay, as long as they focus on the politics of those things/from a political point of view (i.e. "politics" is not just a word used in the title)
OK, finalists for the day....
1. Biometric Technologies by LiamBean
2. Islet Cell Transplants by stephhicks68
3. Software For Writers by amy jane
4. Tech Abuse by SweetiePie
5. Systems Development Life Cycle by gamergirl
Zsuzsy Bee will be today's judge - come back in an hour to see who she has chosen, as well as to see who wins the $100 drawing!
So in terms of politics, the definition we're going by is what exactly?
I looked on dictionary.com and the only somewhat general definition I could find was "use of intrigue or strategy in obtaining any position of power or control, as in business, university, etc."
and in terms of play politics- "to deal with people in an opportunistic, manipulative, or devious way, as for job advancement."
Could this be an appropriate way to looking at today's topic?
Congrats steph! You're just lucky today. Can you rub some of that off on me? I think the only way I'll win or even tie with Stacie is if she slacks off 1 day and only does 9.. Excluding figuring the topic and winning best.
Best of luck everyone!
Thanks for the answers to our questions.
Hi all,
Zsuzsy Bee, our judge for the day, has had this to say about the finalists:
So stephhicks68 wins 15 pts, and MC7 wins 3 for guessing "technologies" first yesterday. Kudos go to LiamBean as well for his runner-up entry.
The leaderboard & scoreboard have been updated, and Stacie Naczelnik retains her lead with 280 points!
DRAWING: stephhicks68 must have a rabbit's foot on her keychain, because she won today's random drawing among eligible points! That's 3 times for her. Congratulations!
Good luck, everyone, with the topic "politics" today!
Congrats Steph! You totally have to throw a party to celebrate.
What??? Okay, now it's popcorn AND drinks. Congratulations to everyone!
Party on Saturday night - Come to Bend, Oregon!
(seriously - what will we all be doing when we won't be hubbing for the contest??)
SLEEPING!
(Yes, I left CAPS on on purpose.)
Getting re-acquainted with family and friends:-)
Write On!
Celebrating my birthday! Too bad I don't live close to Oregon. It could be one heck of a party. And in the same vein, I think everyone should stop hubbing for the contest right now. Let me get all of the best hubs of the day and all of the points so I can win as a birthday present to ME.
So, what do you guys think?
Congratulations to all.... so much to still learn about hubbing:-)
Write On!
Hey Stacie, steph, can the rest of us hublove peeps borrow some of your luck?
I answered one of those chain emails the other day... that's what did it.
Darn! And I've been deleting them all this time.
Rub a Buddha belly.
I'm seriously wishing you lots of luck right now. I'm even squinting my eyes, that's how hard I'm wishing...and that could give me more wrinkles, so you know I really mean it.
You can't see it, but I'm rubbing your avatar picture furiously right now. Well, not right now, but I did before I hit reply.
Question for Hubpages though, would it be okay to write on hot issues being talked about during the political debates, like comparing the current Presidential candidates positions on the issues, or would that be to sideways of a hub topic?
gamergirl - We'd prefer (as should you) topics that will have value beyond the current campaign season. Remember that no one at all will care about the challenger positions come the 2nd week of November. But if you think there is a glaring need for a focus on an issue/comparison that no one Web page has covered, then by all means tackle it. But unless it's truly unique, it's hard to get traffic. Campaign '08 has flooded the Internet.
As for the topic "politics" clarification - be judicious and try not to bend the rules too much. I've had to disqualify plenty of entries throughout the contest that were only peripherally related to the day's topic. It says in the rules, clearly, that the primary focus of the Hub must be on the topic itself. That said, the topic of politics can conceivably be broad. Use your best judgment and try not to be sneaky. You can always email me if you're really not sure, but of course I can't guarantee an immediate response.
ROFL All you're going to do is post five or six hubs at 2:45 anyway, lady. Dangit.
Gamergirl, LOL you caught me. But seriously I don't do that on purpose. I just don't want to publish them until I have to because I always want to add something else. Then at the last minute, I panic and hit the publish button.
Zsuzsy Bee, thanks. It's just going to be my kids- husband is away. But I'm glad I have them here.
Happy Birthday (early) Angela! Yep, I'll raise a glass to you (but I'll probably be going to bed very early. I'm already exhausted. Darn time change.
I know, Angela. Just ribbin at ya, kindly of course. I've been kinda publishing just enough so that maybe I can pull ahead, and then you come out and publish a whole bunch of hubs and I'm freaking trying to come up with something else in fifteen minutes.. never ends well.. LOL
Remind me of that the next time I get all flippy and act like a two year old because I'm stressed. It happens!
OK - I have my demons too. Most of the time they are 10, 8 and 5. But sometimes they take up residence within. With all seriousness!!
Oh, and I have another male demon, age 40 who is grumpy and kind of skeptical of the whole HubPage thing. I think he thinks its my lover. LOL (only a low LOL)....
Seriously...what will we all do post-contest?
Angela will celebrate her birthday, but I think I'll have to sleep for a week before I'm any good again.
I totally agree with Stacie. Oh, and make good with my employer.
