Congratulations, Marye! I just read the Hub and it's awesome. Now I want to go check out the rest of the nominated Hubs. Congrats also to Helena.
And Stacie, wow, you're on a roll.
This contest is getting very interesting, and has been a lot of fun so far.
Well, Congratulations to everybody!
The Hub on music appreciation for the deaf is SO important. I live 1 block away from the city's Deaf School and you can hear music and singing coming from there frequenty. The Hub was a great public service!
Patty
Hey everyone,
Over 100 entries for "business", but a lot were weeded out for being duplicates, or off-topic, unfortunately. Still, the vast majority were terrific Hubs on business; here were the 5 I chose as finalists for judging by Jason English @ mental_floss:
1. How to Choose a Business Name by Whitney05
2. Start A Home Staging Business by amy jane
3. What You Need to Know About Business Franchise Opportunities by Stacie Naczelnik
4. The Party Business Model by stephhicks68
5. Property Investment as a Business by Lissie
Will be back in about an hour to announce the best Hub, the point leader, and the winner of the $100 daily drawing prize!
Happy Friday!
Judging first. Here's what Jason @ mental_floss had to say:
Congratulations to stephhicks68 for winning the 15 pt bonus for the day! Congratulations also go to Lissie for being the runner-up, and MC7 for figuring out yesterday's ubertough clue for the topic "business" (MC7 wins 3 pts for that).
Jason has already put in links to the winner & runner-up, so enjoy the extra linkjuice!
The leaderboard & scoreboard have been updated. Both Stacie Naczelnik and Whitney05 are in the lead with 187 pts!
NOW - for the $100 bonus. The winner of the random drawing was....
stephhicks68!
Completely unrelated to her win of best Hub - this was simply the luck of the draw!
Upon verification of eligibility at the end of the contest, stephhicks68 will join Stacie in getting $100 sent to her PayPal account.
Have a great weekend, everyone - see you here at noon tomorrow!
WOW - I just logged back in! Totally cool. Doin' a happy dance! Thank you!!
HubPages- will mythology count for religion. I was thinking about it in the sense of s in today's world it's considered mythology, but in the time of those people it was their religion. I'm just curious if it will count before I hub on the topics.
Congratulations to all. I can't believe my luck, I am off for the weekend and will not be able to participate in the "religion" topic. Now, no cheering from anybody you hear! Have fun and good luck to all!
I'm curious about why I only got 27 points today. Was one of my hubs disqualified?
And, congratulations to the winners! Lovely hubs everyone.
I'm sorry about that Stacie, and I'm glad you brought that to my attention.
In the tally one of your Hubs was in the final row which got truncated in the calculation.
All 10 are accounted for now, and you have 190 pts.
Thanks there is a definite pattern- if I am really passionate about the topic and write a hub even though its very late and Im tired I make the top 5 ! I guess you cant fake passion - someone tell the internet marketers!
Oh gosh, I am so worried about the hub I'm about to publish... I'm going upstairs to think about it. Religion. Ugh.
Ooooh, Steph. It sounds like you may be pondering some similar Hubs about religion that I have been thinking about. What to do?
I started it several hours ago and almost changed course. Then I just thought. What the heck? So, now, I'm going to press the trigger and suffer the blows. Can't wait to see what you'll publish, Angela!
Okay, I'm confused. I hit reply and it just disappeared. So if there's a double post, don't blame me. So, what was I saying? Oh yeah!
Hehehe, I haven't decided if I'm going to that dark place or not. Partly because of time constraints and partly out of fear. But as I mentioned earlier, controversial hubs bring in the traffic. But they also attract the haters. And now I'm off to see what you've written, Steph. And good luck!
OK, so I already have a post, and its not positive..... Ohhhhh, great!! LOL
Steph, I saw the post. And I just realized that my comment may cause me almost as much trouble. It was kind of harsh. Good grief, how did we get into this?
I think its all good. No worries. Thank goodness this is a community.
Cool, Steph. I'm holding you to that. And now off to see what other controversy I can stir up, if I'm brave enough.
I can't wait. I only have this evening to be controversial. Tomorrow, I have to take my religious scouts all morning for first aid training.
Ah, I remember working with the Scouts. Do they still sell that sinfully priced popcorn?
This hubber got the shock of her life tonight. I have been sick for almost 3 weeks with kidney infection and well I sorda started getting new symtoms and found out theres a baby on the way. I guess it was the Hub Love, sure enough because it's number 4....................ahhhhhhahhhhh!
Congratulations .. I guess ... eeek ... four .... that's a handful and a half!
Steph, no offense, but I think I'll pass. Good luck selling the stuff, though.
Oh WOW! Singing Mommy, how wonderful! Congratulations!! Four kids is a true blessing, by the way.
I hope I am not stepping out of bounds posting here as I am not participating in the contest. I just wanted to say that I have really enjoyed keeping up with the contest and reading all the excellent hubs that have been created from it. Today has been especially enjoyable as I have read so many of the religion hubs. There is so much wonderful information in these hubs and I believe many will help us understand each other a lot more. I just wanted to say thanks to HP for choosing this topic and to all the hubbers who have worked so hard and created such magnificent work! Kudos to all of you and good luck in the contest!
Bonnie
Hi everyone,
Here are today's finalists, who will be judged by HubPages's very own darkside:
1. An Atheists Guide to Religion by Lissie
2. Medieval Cathedrals of Europe by Stacie Naczelnik
3. The Human Personality According to Egyptian Mythology by Whitney05
4. A Family Squabble 4000 Years Old by Peter M. Lopez
5. Wiccan Rituals by gamergirl
See you in about an hour. And good luck with today's clue - it's a tough one!
I've made my verdict!
I've sent it along to HubPages Inc.
And now I'm off to have another coffee. It's Sunday morning in Australia!
Darkside, it is still not too late to guess today's clue ... they are still guessing, LOL.
Well done darkside - I thought about volunteering - but the time zone is a killer over here in Perth!
We're begging. Calling any and all hubbers! Come on over to the Contest page for today!
darkside has read through all 5 finalists thoroughly, and has chosen his winner and runner-up.
Take a look at his insightful blog entry about it here.
Congratulations to Lissie - the winner with 15 pts! (And congratulations to Whitney05 for being the runner-up). 3 pts goes to Blogger Mom for guessing "religion" correctly yesterday.
The scoreboard & leaderboard have been updated. Stacie Naczelnik retains her lead with 220 pts, followed closely by Whitney05 with 217.
Now, for the $100 daily bonus...
stephhicks68!
Wow! A two-time back-to-back winner!
Reminds me a bit of our late-2006 contest, when Moonmaiden won several drawings in a row--also due to the luck of the draw.
Good luck guys - keep guessing at that clue for today, which is a TOUGH one!
Thanks a lot darkside - not just for the win but for the analysis - to be honest that means a lot more ! Because I am not in to win the contest I pick my topics - but yesterday was a day when I had some time though my heart sunk when I saw the subject! Yes you're right I'm an atheist but I was brought up an Anglican and have a lot of time for thinking people with faith. When I checked was available on hubpages with the religon tag Iwas so mad at how bad, biased, ranting most of it was I decided I had to do something - and yes I was trying not to mock - I had to delete quite a lot before it got published!
Wow stephhicks68, two days in a row - you are so lucky.
Darkside, I loved your blog entry about your decision! I would love that kind of feedback from all of our judges.
Okay, now someone figure out the clue! This contest has taken over my life, and I'm not sure what to do with myself if I'm not writing hubs.
Steph, holy strawberries! So when am I being invited over for free drinks?
No, remember, its free popcorn! LOL.... Anytime, guys! Anytime.
Wow - that is so incredible! (and congrats Lissie for a well-deserved win!) Its kind of funny, I was just paying bills this afternoon waiting for SOMEONE to solve the the HubLove clue.... and this should help, indeed. Big Hugs to the HubPages staff!
Congratulations, Lissie. I was intrigued by the title when I first saw it. I have been so caught up with trying to solve the contest clue that I haven't read it yet. So, now off I go.
Stacie, you too? If someone doesn't solve this thing soon, I'm going to freak.
Sadly, my afternoon hubbing time is nearing an end. I have only about an hour and a half left, then we have to go to a fundraising dinner. How will I be able to make small talk if I don't know if the clue has been solved yet??? Ahhhhh - the drama!
Wow, what a cool blog entry by darkside. Class act as always.
