Hello HubMobsters, thank you very much forall your contributions to help bring awareness to Breast Cancer. Let's hope that our small contribution to the Breast Cancer Awareness month can make a change and save lives around the world.
To follow the HubMob "bringing awareness" mood, this week we are going to write about one of the most fun events in October: Halloween. This year we are going to concentrate on safety issues during Halloween. Instead of writing general Halloween hubs -we did that last year- we are going to use our hubs to support the Halloween Safety Month which aims to make a safe Halloween for children, teens and adults.
Some ideas for a HubMob supporting the Halloween Safety Month are: Halloween Safety Guide; Safety Tips for Kids; Costume Safety Tips; Trick or Treat Safety; Halloween Driving Tips, Yard Haunt Safety and Halloween Pet Safety.
To join this week's HubMob please follow the steps below:
1. START YOUR HUB CLICKING THIS LINK. Choose the "Answer the Request" green button. Choose the MAKE A HUB ABOUT IT option.
2. Choose a relevant title for your Hub to get a good ranking in the search engines, AVOID starting your title with "Weekly HubMob"
3. Include the HubMob RSS Feed in your hub: http://hubpages.com/question/79152/hubm … ew&rss
4. Add one of the HubMob graphics You can use the special graphic at the start of this thread http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv19 … afetyF.jpg which was created for the topic by wyanjen, or the traditional HubMob graphic below.
5. After you publish your HubMob Hub, come back to the forum and post a link to your hub.
Have fun keeping everyone safe this Halloween!
Why do most HubMob hubs have low scores this week ???
That's a good question. Maybe they will increase the last week of October, although some scores are increasing now.
I guess the longer I'm on the site, the less I pay attention to hub scores (I still pay attention to my hubber score though!). When I check my stats, I barely look at scores before clicking on the "1 day" column to see which hubs are getting the most traffic.
My Halloween costumes hub from last year is at over 100 visits a day. It has gotten almost 1700 views in the last 30 days. I was oblivious to the hub score.
Yay Halloween!! Can't wait to read everyone's safety guides!!

That is lightening speed! Wish writing something about Chinese traditions in Chinese would work here [img][/img], then I'd do it fast, hehe. But thanks anyway.

Cool ! Halloween is not celebrated in my country ..but would be great to look up on it !!
Maybe you should start the tradition in your own neighborhood with a party??
When we just moved to France no one in our little village celebrated halloween. I believe I started it (the crazy foreigners as the French would put it) now 5 years later they are all doing it and looking forwards to my next Halloween party!!! after all... any excuse is good for a party
Here is my 2nd hub for the Hubmob weekly topic:

I started laughing right away with this one!

Since when can satanic activities be safe ?
Halloween is totally demonic.
TO BE SAFE Stay off satan's playground and have nothing nothing at all to do with halloween.
Halloween has roots in the Christian holiday All Saints' Day, but is today largely a secular celebration.
Christian attitudes towards Halloween are quite diverse. In the Anglican Church, some dioceses emphasize the Christian traditions of All Saints’ Day, while some other Protestants celebrate the holiday as Reformation Day.
Father Gabriele Amorth, a Vatican-appointed exorcist in Rome, has said, "if English and American children like to dress up as witches and devils on one night of the year that is not a problem. If it is just a game, there is no harm in that."
Many contemporary Protestant churches view Halloween as a fun event for children, holding events in their churches where children and their parents can dress up, play games, and get candy.
(taken from wikipedia)
Thanks, Princessa, for addressing this so diplomatically.
Me thinks there's a Halloween Scrooge amongst us...
The whole point of Halloween was to chase off evil spirits...there is nothing demonic about it.
I suggest you read up on it a bit.
I've read accounts of masking (and tattoos, in the the Old Testament) employed to chase off spirits actually attracting them - whether fact, fiction, or alcohol-induced hallucination, these stories add controversy. Regardless, I don't like costumes that present serial killers, and to a lesser extent witches and devils. The green witch face we still see originates with the physical brutality done to women that were only herbalists in 1600s New England - gangrene and rotted flesh from hangings, partial burnings, bindings, and other tortures. I can't tolerate serial killer, witch, or devil costumes. But to call a harvest party with cute costumes satanic is over the top. Bugs Bunny (my favorite costume as a kid) is not satanic. As our pastor says, "I've never seen a demon attached to a plastic toy and I'm not going to discuss it."
I'm not crazy about the violent costumes either. Interesting fact about the green witches face.
At least not serial killers; I think I can stomach the rest.
What an interesting fact about the history of the green faced witch. Thanks.
Ha Ha, Errol Smythe, you're kidding right? You do know that most of us just do it for the fun of getting dressed up and eating candy? There aren't enough celebrations in life where we get to do that. Have you seen how excited kids get around Halloween? There's nothing demonic about it.

My Second work ,
Halloween Driving Safety Tips
http://hubpages.com/hub/Halloween-Driving-Safety-Tips
I don't know, I do know that my hub mob hub from last week just started getting google hits yesterday.
I just completed my Halloween Safety Guide
Since no one seemed to want the more competitive keyword phrase I snagged it up.
I tried to make an all in one hub covering everything I could think of. I hope I didn't go too nuts with the Amazon ads.
I will probably add some more stuff to it like YouTube videos and more tips but I want to get it published before its too close to the big day.
Suggestion: Any HubMobs covering a holiday should be done in advance a bit more in my opinion to give them time to age and gain some Google Juice. I think 3 weeks to 1 month in advance is much better. With only 8 days to go I'm not sure how much I can do with this by then.
On the flip side any hubs that rank well during the Google honeymoon period should see good short term traffic that could help with incoming links at the perfect time. But what do I know since this is my first hubmob?
From my experience Facebook groups are a good place to post links if you can find one that closely aligns with your hubs topic.
With that in mind I just created a FaceBook "Halloween Safety" Group where everyone who has participated in this weeks hubs, or already has a related hub can post links there.
I figure it can't hurt to work FB a bit for more traffic, right? So while I was the one who created this group every member will have control over it, not just me, based upon what I just read at Mashable in an attempt to understand what I'm doing here. Yes I'm a FB noob and hope I've done this the right way as I have never created a group before. Anyone wishing to join the group will need to send me a request within FB to join. As soon as I approve the request you can post links, pictures or whatever to the group. You don't have to become my friend on FB to join this group.
If after you join this group and would like to be an admin to help approve new group members let me know and I'll add you as long as you have a hub related to this group. I have no desire to be the only one in control of it. The more the better.
I hope others think this is as good of an idea as I do.
Halloween Safety Group on Facebook. I'm assuming the link to this is acceptable since its for this and to benefit us all.
A Facebook page can be a good promotion tool. Progressive's Flo page from last year is doing this well for people seeking her character as a costume for halloween.
I think this comking week, people will be looking for last-minute tips and the FB page could get a lot of action. Anyway, we'll have it for next year as well and it will gain traction.
Regards,
Patty

For this week's HubMob, I have decided to cover a topic that is truly close to many people's hearts - their pets.
