First of all, I hope that you all had an amazing weekend and it's great to see you all back here on HuPages....this is going to be an awesome week!
Now, for all of you Hubbers out there who have been following my forum thread about HubMobs, this is the first official topic that we will all be HubMobbing for the rest of this week. I was given a great suggestion to add the HubMob topic as a Request, which seemed like a great idea and it it will be an easy way to see who all has written a Hub on the particular topic.
So, this first week's topic is All About Various Popular Hair Styles: Their history and how to create them and here is how you can join our first, official HubMob:
1. First, think of a good focus area to Hub on that goes along with the overall HubMob topic of the week. Have some fun with it and write it about something that you are either interested in or know something about. For example, gamergirl could write a Hub titled 'Things to think about when dying your hair a bright color' or I could write about 'Manageable hair styles for really good looking tall men'. It can be about anything, but just make sure that the topic stays focused on various hair styles.
2. Once you have your focus area decided(I think that I'm going to write about mullets), head on over to the Requests section and click the request that I added called All About Various Popular Hair Styles: Their history and how to create them.
3. Change out the title to something that you want to write about and be sure that you change the Web Address to match your title once you change it. Also, feel free to keep the tags that I added or delete some of them and add your own.
4. Write up your soon-to-be-amazingly-awesome Hub about your focus area of the hair styles topic and publish it once you're happy with what you've put together. Feel free to add plenty of images, links to other resources and videos to help better describe your hair style topic of choice. I think that I'm going to try to find a couple of Joe Dirt images/videos to add into mine since he rocked a super-mean mullet.
5. Once you have published your Hub, add a link back to it inside of this Forum thread and tell us what you wrote about and why you chose that particular topic. Also, as your Hub begins to move up the ranks as far as Google and other search engines go, be sure to keep us updated with how it's performing.
So, that's about it - I hope that you all are as excited as I am to get this first HubMob up and running...this is going to be great to see what we all come up with. Although this might not be the first topic that you would choose to write about(definitely not mine), I think that it will help us all become better Hubbers and it's going to be great to see what focuses we all choose and how we all put our Hubs together about them.
If you have any questions, please let me know and although there's not real timeframe for the HubMobs, it would be great to have several published by Wednesday so that I can feature them in the newsletter.
Have fun HubMobbing!
Are you going to poll good looking tall men for researching your hub?
LOL!!
You know, being sick as a dog right now I wondered if I'd have an idea pop up - but I think I know now what I'm going to do.
Thanks Ryan! *high five*
So whatdoya think Ryan-- you had a lot of awesome participants , did it do what you hoped?
Hey Rochelle,
Heck yes! This was SO much fun and I can't wait to do it again.
I'll be posting this week's topic before tomorrow, so be on the lookout!
Did you have fun?
Had some fun, made a couple of bucks (literally), and increased traffic to a few of my hubs. What more can you ask for? I just hope the next topic is condusive to humor, or I may be sunk!
B.T. - I think that we've found that you can pretty much make anything funny, so I'm not too worried.
You are too kind. *tapping foot waiting for next topic*
Hey not fair I just spent the entire day on a wedding hub , Ryan you have gone on about wedding hubs all week why the sudden change?......jimmy
Oh man, Jimmy - like I said in the the other Forum posts, the wedding theme topic was just an example. But, that is still a very traffic-friendly topic that you should still write about.
Sorry about the confusion, I hope that you still play along with this topic, too.
I have no hair haven't for quite some time lol I know as much about hairstyles as the Queen knows about living on unemployment benefit this is one for the ladies me thinks, maybe next week.....jimmy
So, since you have no hair, you could write about the benefits of no hair over a hair style. Easier to maintain, less money spent on products, famous bald men, whatever!!
my wife has also spent the entire day researching a wedding hub......jimmy
Well, even though you have no hair(or short hair) there are always things that you can write about. Also, just because you don't have hair, doesn't mean that you can't write about mohawks, perms or even different hair braids. Part of the HubMob is to get you writing about topics that you might not normally write about - so I say go for it!
I think that Jimmy should write a Hub on 'The history of Mohawks and how you can give yourself one'.
Anyone else agree?
I mean, I am writing mine on mullets, and I'm definitely not styling one of those right now(unfortunately).
I´m sorry about that Jimmy, but I´m glad it was not about weddings cause I know nothing about it . And you know what, no hair it´s also an hair style!!!
I already started my hair styles research and I hope to have the time needed to finish the hub during this week.
Lets` have fun!!!
I hope to God that you or someone else writes something about 'The art of the comb-over' starring the Donald, of course!
Jimmy..use the research you have done and do one on wedding hair styles.
Oh Jimmy I just finished a wedding Hub too! Maybe that'll be a mini-Mob.... Look for my Goth themed weddings up in a minute!
my wedding hub lol not on topic but what the hey.....jimmy
http://hubpages.com/hub/The-Wedding-Day-A-Grooms-Guide
I guess that you could have done 'Best hairstyles for a wedding' and tied 'em both together.
Great Hub, Jimmy...as always.
I went ahead and made this a 'sticky'(that's why it's pink and at the top of the forum topics) so that everyone can stay in the loop with what's going on with the HubMob. When we post the new one next week, I'll turn this back into a normal forum thread and make the new HubMob topic a sticky.
I'm taking a little bit of a tip from the original topic of the HubMob, and incoporating Halloween into the mix. Halloween Hairstyles! LOL! Should be fun! Already started my research!
Great idea, Anna
You know that you have to include one of the greatest Halloween hairstyles, ever. The bride of Frankenstein:
No way I would leave out that classic!! Thanks!!
How did you know this is my natural hair, Ryan??!? I'm outed.
Great idea Anna .
I was so anxious to finish my hub on hair styles that instead of saving it I publish it before adding anything .
It is unpublished again and I´m working on it .
Good luck to all the mobsters .
OK, now it´s ready or at least almost (hubs are never finished)
http://hubpages.com/hub/Choose-your-new … air-Styles
Have fun!
Edit: I don´t see my hub on the list of the answering the request hubs. And I´m positively sure I started it following the request .
Can anyone help me on this?
Hey funride,
Great Hub and don't worry, I see you listed in the request....thanks for joining the HubMob!
I'm having a "blonde" moment??!! Wasn't today, Monday, September 8th, the day we start posting HubMobs on Wedding Themes?? Can't find them?? Maybe I am a week, or a year, off!! Love the idea of Halloween hair as well!! Earth Angel!!
Hey Earth Angel,
Well, it looks like you're in the same position that Jimmy is in. I used the wedding theme just as an example for telling everyone about the HubMob idea, but it seems that a few people such as yourself took it to be the official theme for the week.
Whoops.
Feel free to post a link to your wedding Hub here, too since we all seem to be a little confused - but you should definitely join in on the hair styles topic, too if you get the get the chance.
Thanks Ryan!! As an author I can be sooooooooooooo literal sometimes!! I could have sworn it suggested this Monday, today!! Well, if Jimmy got it confused also, I don't feel so bad!! I couldn't be in better company!!
Yes, I will post the Wedding one as a Hub: Celebacy and Seventeen Wedding Gowns!!
Yes, I will post hair as well!! I am the queen of golden locks!! Blonde hair almost to my knees!!
Thanks Ryan!!
Wow, sounds like you could write a pretty good one on how to manage really, really long hair.
Down your knees?
Rapunzel, Rapunzel....
O.k..Her is mine
http://hubpages.com/hub/Curly-Hair-Pictures-and-Tips
Curly Hair Pictures and Tips...uh..that would be because I have extremely curly hair and spent most of the 70's with it rolled up in orange juice cans or ironing on the ironing board to get it straight...
So..is this all I am supposed to do?
Marye,
The Hub looks awesome and I promise that I'll never tell you to walk on the wild side again.
I think that you actually own property there.
http://hubpages.com/hub/A-Simple-Victorian-Hairstyle
Mine's done too. Temporarily. I'd like to include illustrated instructions, but as noted in the hub, the style works best with long, straight hair and mine is short and curly, so until I can find a model, visitors are out of luck. However, it's a lovely, vintage updo that's perfect for weddings or proms and can be dressed down for everyday use too.
WOW! In only 9 hours, kerryg has made the first page of google for 'A simple Victorian hairstyle' and almost on the first page(3 results away) for 'Victorian Hairstyle'...great job!
There are over 1,200,000 results, too....HUBMOB!
http://hubpages.com/hub/Wild-and-Crazy- … Hairstyles
Mine is done, too!! That was a lot of fun! Can't wait to go back and read everyone else's take on the topic!!
Yeah..I do..but I am renting it out right now to an elderly couple from Pasadena. I used to rent it to Lou Reed on the weekends when I wasn't using it...I can tell you, I will never rent to anorexic male rock stars again...Elderly couples are much easier to work with...and they don't break guitars or spit blood.
Hope this link works:
I took the old what's in my face approach.
What I see everyday lol having a teen in the house
Can't wait to go read what every one came up with

Very cool, Princessa - did you get to check them out last night?
What did you think?
http://hubpages.com/hub/The-Art-of-the-Flatop-Haircut
Weaving links to the other people that participate in the theme is a great way to help each other out!
I have to go home and find a few picture for the hub:)
Looks like Paul is already on the second page of Google for 'flat top haircuts' and is #15 out of 244,000+ results!
HUBMOB!!!
We all could probably add this RSS feed for the Request into an RSS Capsule in each of our Hubs:
http://hubpages.com/request/6845/best?rss
That will add in some HubMob love into your Hub.
Done, just added it at the bottom of my page... good night everybody time for this little girl to go to bed zzzzzzzzzzzzz...................
Also, don't forget to use the RSS feed in your Hubs....it will help spread the HubMob love.
Oh, and props to Ananta65, who rocked out the new HubMob logo inside of his Hub....yet another great idea!
Um, I'm not sure if I know how to do that, but I'll try.
Since the last popular hairstyle that I'm aware of was probably the afro, is it okay to write about retro styles without having to link them to anything modern?
All you have to do is copy and paste that link into the RSS Capsule after you add it to your Hub. If you need more help adding it in, please let me know.
Also, I'm all about the Afro, do it up!
I'd be laughing my a** off if it weren't sad....I have naturally curly/frizzy hair....I can get an 'fro without leaving the house.
Thx for the RSS instruction, I'll give 'er a go.
My addition to the first ever HubMob:
http://hubpages.com/hub/4-Cool-Websites … Hair-Style
I usually review products or destinations with some sort of cool WOW factor to them. So this was a tough topic for me. I settled on a review of websites that let you virtually try out different hair styles before getting one done for real.
Look forward to see what you all came up with.
~ scs
This Jackalope knows jack about hairstyles. I'm afraid this was the best I could do with this one. Hopefully I'll do a little better next weeik! http://hubpages.com/hub/Hairstyles-To-Die-ForOr-From
Sweet! I just got hooked up with a new HubMob logo...check it:
Pretty sweet, eh? If anyone else has better PhotoShop skills than I do and has an idea for a logo, feel free to do it up and post it here, too.
Thanks for the tip about the RSS feed. I wasn't sure how to do that!! Just went and added it to my Hub!!! Great job by everyone that has written already!!!
Here's mine. I just through it together. Hope it isn't too bad.
http://hubpages.com/hub/short-hair-versus-long-hair
The angle I've chosen in my hub is how much I hate my hair. Always have, always will. Here's the link:

Hey crashcromwell,
Thanks for playing along....and nice outfit.
10 Hubs and counting for this HubMob...who's next?
I'm all over this tomorrow morning, so get ready for some hot mullet action.
Mine should be done tomorrow. Doing the research was tough because there's just NOTHING on the internet about it, which maybe will end up working out for me. I had to go to all academic sources and it took me a couple of hours to find anything of depth on it. But I'm solid on research now, so tomorrow I'll dash it off.
The point was just to get them done this week, right?
Yep, we'll have a whole new HubMob topic next Monday for everyone to chew on.
Can't wait. I almost did 2 last night, but figured I didn't want to over exert myself. ha
Well, looks like you've already got one #1 spot on Google for your 'Benefits of Short Hair Over Long Hair' which has 450,000+ results....this is SO sweet.
Oh, and you're also #3 for 'Benefits of Short Hair'.
Oh I been working all night on Guilty Pleasure Movies and you drop THIS on me.
I AM IN!
........If I'm allowed on the computer tomorrow.
Meanwhile....To get you motivated for your HUBMOB-TASTIC TUESDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HubMob-tastic, indeed oh master of all things funky.
Ok, here it is: Dirty Hairy, make my day. What's the use of a hair style if it ain't clean?
Niiiiice! I never knew that shampoo had so many options...geesh.
I just started on a hub too. It's not finished yet. But it's a start:)

http://hubpages.com/hub/Hair-Wars
btw are we going to have to update rss feeds often, and if so how often should we do this?
Though I posted this a couple of weeks ago, I think it fits the theme.
http://hubpages.com/hub/Harebrained-Nam … uty-Salons
Hmmm....trying to sneak one in on us, eh?
I'm sure that you could come up with a new one if you really tried....wat us to help you with a topic? You ave all week to publish one, so you should have time, right?
I'm reluctant to post another on the same subject that has already gotten the most views I have ever had... I do have a couple of photos taken when I gave an author's presentation in the last week of school... it just happened to be on "Crazy Hair Day". Generally the schools where I taught discouraged such distractions. I didn't do high school.
Also, you used to teach, right?
What about a Hub on some of the crazies hairstyles that you saw while teaching?
I just made a few requests based on the hubmob theme. Are they good ones?
Hey ProCW,
I love your requests - why don't you post them all in here? I'd like everyone to answer the response that I posted for the HubMob so that we can keep them all grouped as much as possible.
Also, I think that you should publish a Hub on this request that you just added:
k... done... it'll be a little more difficult for any hubbers that want to use them, but i'll take them down. to use my ideas, i ask that in addition to the hubmob requirements, any hubbers that wish to use any of these ideas, please link to my profile with credit for the ideas... how's that?
Hubmob request: How to Wash a Man Right Out of your Hair in the South Pacific.
* suggested tags... entertainment, advice, movie, hair, songs, musical, broadway, south pacific, wash that man right out of my hair
Hubmob request: Hair, the musical and the hairy topics within.
* suggested tags... entertainment, arts, hair, musical, broadway, hairy topics
Hubmob request: The Hairstyles of Hairspray, the Broadway Musical and Movie.
* suggested tags... entertainment, arts, movie, hairstyles, hairspray, hubmob, broadway musical
Thanks,
ProCW
I didn't even know this hubmob topic was going on. I published this hub yesterday, and I'd say it's pretty relevant!
http://hubpages.com/hub/All-Shampoos-Ar … ent=491291
Apparently I started writing one and published it before it was ready. Clicked the wrong stupid button.
Anyway, I unpublished it already and will work on it more. Could we have a popup installed asking if we really want to do that when we publish a hub? Oh wait, I am on the wrong board for that question.
Did you go back and edit it? You can also unpublish it if you want...
I said I unpublished it. Hmm, thing is that someone checked it out already though. oh well little or no harm done at least.
Instead of a pop up asklng if you;re sure you want to do that, how about a hand that comes out with a ruler in it that smacks you on the hand when you click publish?
Hey, if we're doing requests, can I make one? (Okay, two.)
Cornrows!
When I worked as a tutor, one of my kids' mothers was an African hairdresser and she used to come every week with the most beautiful and elaborate braids you can imagine. I'd love to learn a little more about how to braid cornrows.
I would also like to learn microbraiding, since they are very similar to a style traditional in my husband's culture:

http://hubpages.com/hub/Swell--Groovy-H … 1950s--60s
Ugh!!! I can't look at this thing one more minute! It took me hours and hours and hours. I'll edit it later...think you can tell I was sick of it by the time I hit the sixties....what the hell was I thinking doing 2 decades???
Hey Shirley,
Sounds like you had some extra fun with this one.
All that hard work paid off though....your Hub is A-MA-ZING!
Well helllllo Miss Jayne Mansfield.
Yeah, thought it needed a little somethin', somethin' to jazz it up. She's not terribly ugly, is she?
Is that what you meant by amazing? If so, I can probably find more. Are ya Piper Laurie fan?
Ok, here's mine. It's not funny... I couldn't think of anything funny besides lice or trying to make a joke about chicks with their head stuffed into a bee hive, so, I ended up doing a real hub on powdered wigs in England instead. They're called "perukes" if you didn't know. I sure didn't. LOL.
http://hubpages.com/hub/Hairstyles-of-t … gs-in-Wigs
(Yes, this is a French guy... I covered it lol)
You did insert a Monty Python vid! That's funny.
Monty Python rules. LOL Plus, that vid saves my hub from being too dry (well, and the guinea pig, I guess).
And I just realized I didn't start my hub from the Request thing. /sigh. Oh well. I'm still playing
I'm not sure that I did mine right, either....it's not showing up in the RSS feeds on the others.
Hey, your 1950s Hair Tonic vid wasn't working, you might wanna check it out incase it wasn't just on my end.
It's working again, I don't know what the prob was, but thx for letting me know. I just deleted the link and added it again.
My hub is up...best I could do with the subject
http://hubpages.com/hub/Shaggalicious--Baby
Very shaggalicious. indeed.
My vote goes to Farrah Fawcett, by the way.
Oh, and check this out...fellow Hubber ProCW made us a new HubMob banner!
Pretty sweet, eh?
