I just found out that hubber Wesman Todd Shaw passed away last year. RIP Todd.  Many were fans of Todd's writings.  Loved guitars and wrote some great hubs on music.  Condolences to his family and friends.

Sad news to hear.  I noticed that he was very active throughout the summer and then is abruptly stopped. 46 is too young to die. RIP Wesman. At least there are few guitar gods up there to jam with.

Damn. He was such a unique soul. His heart was kind and good. He was real. Always. He reached out to me once, in such a genuine manner, with regard to some postings I made... a time ago. I never forgot it.

I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. May he rest softly and go soon to the meet his Maker. I will always remember you, Wesman Todd Shaw. My very deepest condolences to his family.

Man I've been so busy working on a lot of things from family drama, working on my new account, and such that I didn't even notice this thread until recently.    Man that's tragic.   Well he'll definitely be missed.     Condolences to him and his family and thanks for telling us.

"A page for friends of Todd who want to know wtf happened to him or send him messages." Indeed.

Edit: I did note that in one of his hubs, he mentioned he had been "locked up" for attempted suicide.

          Hi Shauna,
I did not find a cause of death.  Nothing was in the obit either.  I don't remember him mentioning any particular health issues in his hubs or discussions.

People seem reluctant to post a cause of death on social media. As a result, lots of times we just never know what happened unless we have personal contact with the family.

    1. Solaras profile image94
Solarasposted 3 years agoin reply to this

Unless someone has fought a long struggle, and even then, no one tells what the cause of death was.  In "long battle" we assume cancer.  When nothing is there, we assume something sudden.  It makes me sad in any case.  He was a young man, smart, cynical.

His mother's comments struck me as being stuck in time. i.e. He was brilliant, but it never showed in his high school grades.  And there it sits, as though everyone is stuck in time there, in 1992. He was a 46 year old man, what of the next 18 years of life.

      1. Solaras profile image94
Solarasposted 3 years agoin reply to this

Years ago, my mother came across the obituary of a former boyfriend from high school.  He was 41 when he passed.  It said he was preceded in death by his wife a year earlier, and they left 2 children behind.  His parents still survived.  I thought, "What do two people at 40/41 have to die over.  Both of them."  I still wonder to this day.  This predated the opioid epidemic.

I have similar thoughts over one of my university friends in England. He was an archaeologist, so had a large footprint on internet (papers published, digs, community projects etc.), but then it all just stopped suddenly and his email no longer works. My presumption is that he died of something. But it could have been a nervous breakdown or some huge life-changing decision. I may never know. I guess I could find out if he died if I used Ancestry.

People do die when they are only 40, my own father died at that age of cancer, but it does make people wonder...

Maybe one day Ancestry dot  com (or an equivalent) will list cause of death...

Oh dear, I am truly sorry to hear this. I have recently returned (again) to HP, was busy refresing old articles and thought of him this morning. A search led me here. We often commented on each other's stuff, did a cross-link or two in our articles to work in some of his excellent info on guitars, and even exchanged emails a few times. RIP Wesman. I know life wasn't always kind to you, but you always tried to have such a positive outlook, and you were supportive and kind.
