I'm sorry to report that our friend Pamela Oglesby (Pamela99) is in hospice care. I heard from one of her sons yesterday.

This is so sad and disturbing.
I had noticed her absence on HubPages, since a long time.
Wishing her good health and speedy recovery. Praying for her!
Thank you Linda for letting us know.

That is very sad, Linda. I knew she had not been well recently, and her and her husband had been struggling after recent bouts of COVID.

I am wrenched to hear about Pam's decline in health and wish her and her family and friends comfort from God and community.

Jerry Lee Lewis said in an interview I heard years ago that in his mind/dreams he could not stop passing by the caskets. I am beginning to feel the same way. I still have some online friends, but all my relatives are gone, my last in-person friend died in 2017, and many from Hubpages have died since I have been here.

I grieve with all here who have wished Pam well and I wish for her a gentle transition, if healing is not forthcoming, in Jesus's name.

What a beautiful response to Pamela's condition. She is a true friend and a lovely supporter of her fellow writers.
I second your prayer and offer an Amen.

Sorry, I forgot to offer condolences to you on the loss of your in-person friend. That is the same year I lost my best friend as well. We'd known each other for over 40 years. It's never the same again.

That's not the way hospice works here.

People get on hospice alot just so they no longer need to go to doctor's offices.
Sometimes after a couple of years or evens months, they are able to get off of hospice care.
It isn't simply a death sentence...it is an offer of help.

        I don't know what Pamela's condition is...but I'm holding onto hope.

I can understand savvydating's post. In my country (the Netherlands) admitted to a hospice means that it's the end of the road. No one comes out of a hospice alive. If one needs temporary excessive care, then they go to special elderly homes.

surovi99 -- I had a patient that went to hospice for six months, was discharged, and then fully recovered from cancer. This does not occur often, but it does occur.

Thanks Linda for letting us know.
It breaks my heart to hear this sad news.  The last thing I heard from her was about her and her husband finally getting to come home after a long bout with covid.
She was so happy to be back home and see her new kitty.

My prayers go out to her and her family.

Its a sad tale. She writes more about health.                                                And I'm wondering how a sickness can take her down? Is it an accident?                                        Nevertheless, my heart goes out to her.

Praying to God to restore healng to her mind and body. Amen.

It's true, Hospice Care is final care. Sadly, I have gone through it with too many people in a few short years. I was just at another funeral this past Saturday.
If people know of people coming out
of Hospice Care and leading productive lives, then it was obviously premature. I only share this so that no one is given false hope.

Thank you for this nuanced information, AB. My understanding is that hospice care signifies the end of life… but so does palliative care…
So, perhaps the decision to choose hospice depends upon the understanding of the family. I am not certain.

I'm so very sorry to learn about Pamela's decline in health and my thoughts and prayers go out to her family. I will be 56 years old this year and it seems that this type of news is becoming more and more prominent - which is to be expected, but it's still not easy. I'm not on HP very much anymore but I have become familiar with many of the profiles and monikers over the last 14 years... ugh, I don't know what I'm saying anymore... I just wish everyone the best and my heart goes out to Pamela and her family.
