That little screenshot was 3 years in the making - but 3 years and 129 hubs and I finally hit that milestone
I would like to thank Pinterest and other social media - because if I'd have waited to get this kind of traffic from only Google it would have been another 3 years probably - ha!
Congratulations, Christin! A huge accomplishment and well deserved!
Great job - must have felt good to look at that number!
Wow! That is very impressive. I'm more than a little jealous. I should reach that mark about when my youngest grandson starts drawing social security
Wow! Awesome! Which reminds me to double my effort in cranking out hubs and sharing it on pinterest.
Well done! Your Hubs are so popular; keep up the great writing!
Congratulations on a job well done. You are right about social media. I started on Pinterest a year or so ago thinking it would never amount to anything, but slowly views from them are increasing and really adding to my counts. I do a few others as well, but none are as good for me as Pinterest. I doubt I'll ever reach a million views, but I'm very happy someone is doing that. I know how much hard work goes into attaining this level of views, and thus know you earned them! Keep up the good work.
Definitely with Pinterest. Of my 1 million views, over half are from social media and Pinterest is the biggest one by far. BUT, I would add before people just start pinning and spamming Pinterest (please do NOT do that anyone lol) I spend a great deal of time on Pinterest developing all sorts of interesting boards that are also getting search results in Google. In fact when I search for some of my hubs (or blog posts, web pages etc), the boards they are pinned on have top 3 Google ranking and the hub is nowhere to be seen on the front page - imagine that!
I pin maybe 1/10th of my own stuff. The rest are pins of things I really enjoy and that add value to my boards. I am anal about checking to see that things I repin go to a valid website etc.
High quality boards mean I have tons of followers over there, so that's why Pinterest has been so good to me. I've invested a great deal of time and energy into it, because frankly I HATE most other social media. Yes hate is a strong word - and I still mean it.
I'd rather take a beating than use Twitter. I do it, but I really don't like it. Every moment on that site is painful to me - full of phoniness and spam and those annoying freaking hashtags etc. I get a bit of traffic from there, but because I don't enjoy it, not as much as I probably could. Facebook is another one I use, but again, I don't really enjoy it. Pinterest is visual, it appeals to both the artist and organizer in me and so it's not a struggle for me to use.
So, for anyone that struggles with (hates) social media or if you think it's not worth the time. Done properly, it most certainly is. I was not kidding when I said if I'd have been counting on only Google my Million would have been another 3 years - well I was kind of, but many jokes have truth in them
.
Congratulations, Christin! I'm sure that Pintrest helped but you are a very talented writer. Social media just helped others find your writing. Again, Congratulations!
Congratulations! An accolade that is thoroughly deserved.
Congratulations! Pinterest helps bring a lot of traffic to HubPages.
Congratulations! I am in awe. Just starting here and that's an inspiration!
Aw, ChristinS, this is great news. Congratulations! You must feel so good.
That's great, Christine! My hearty Congratulations on this great achievement.
Thank you everyone. It sure did feel good to hit that milestone! It was over 3 years and a lot of effort that went into those hubs, but it's been worth it.
My hubs earn money which I appreciate, but they have also brought me a lot of opportunities by using them as writing samples when seeking out clients etc. There are a lot of benefits to writing here. I know it seems sometimes in the forums to get really negative, but I hope that doesn't deter people from trying.
So, now I'm going for double or nothing. If it took me 3 & 1/2 years to get to one million - I wonder if I can get my second million in 2 years? hmmmmm time will tell I guess lol. In the meantime, it's time to breathe new life into some old hubs and hopefully find some inspiration for some new ones between projects.
Wow! Congratulations ChristinS - you obviously deserve your success.
Congratulations, that is very impressive to me, considering that I have also been here for three years and I am just shy of 200,000. I've only got 50 hubs though.
Pinterest is my second best source of traffic behind Google, and I rarely used Twitter or Facebook for hubs. Maybe I should spend a little more time at Pinterest, oh and write more hubs.
Congratulations! Very inspiring. I am a long way off, but you've given me hope. Would love to hear more of your tips for success.
How awesome ! Congratulations to you and thanks for sharing some tips as well
Very Inspiring Christin! Not only do you have your thumb on the pulse of readers' interests, you provide valuable information that will stay with them. To think that something we said might be "walking around in the head of another" is truly gratifying. (You apparently are walking around in a lot of people's minds on a daily basis). Your accomplishment inspires us all here to keep on working and build our base, 'cuz after all, it's all about the base, 'bout the base. And once the base is there, numbers start becoming exponential. Here's to exponentiality and to you, Christin! I'll toast to you tonight from CA
Thanks again so much everyone Know that your lovely comments are very much appreciated. I truly do appreciate all of them.
Valeant - followers are wonderful, but to earn money etc. it's best to get traffic outside of HP through search and social media .
Very Big congratulations to you. I am happy you made it.
Congratulations that's quite an accomplishment. I wish I had half of your outstanding writing and marketing talent.
Congrats. It's a great achievement. Keep on writing. All the best.
Great job ChristinS... !!! you are an inspiration to the rest of us.... keep up the good work.
all the replies are so kind - thanks everyone I really appreciate it. It really did make my week this week, a good thing because I needed a bit of inspiration to fuel me since I'm doing some very tedious revamp work this week on a website lol.

I'm bored. Ok correction, I'm procrastinating. I randomly come on and off the forums and on this return visit I've seen SO many people questioning why their hubs aren't making money and/or getting traffic. So for as long I'm having fun, feel free to post below (either for your whole account or one...

If we pump up our use of social media, i.e., marketing our articles more, will it help increase our traffic much? Or won't it make much difference because we are more dependent upon organic traffic? Something tells me we might have to wait out this drought. What say you?

Do you use social media to bring traffic to your hubs? What are your favorites?
by Christin Sander 8 years ago
I went to share a fellow hubbers hub and had to hunt for the buttons in order to share. There were at the very bottom of the right hand side. Then I checked one of my own hubs - all the way at the bottom. Not helpful, especially when many of us rely primarily on social media for...

Do you have an external blog that you link to your hubs? Do you write articles for an online magazine? And is it recommended to specialise in one or two areas - and connect a blog to these hub topics?I receive bursts of traffic when I promote my hubs on social media but I am looking into other ways...

So I was bored and decided I would Google some of the topics of a few of my most recent hubs... Two of them popped up on the FIRST PAGE!! WHHHHHAAAAATTT?!??! lol. Sorry, I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place for this, but I almost swallowed my own tongue I was so excited and I need to tell...
