The Money Grows on Hubs contest is now in FULL SWING!  This contest is EASY  - all you have to do is publish an original Hub in the Personal Finance category that is a minimum of 300 words, and you immediately qualify for the following prizes:

*Staff Pick (28 winners): $50 & New York Times best seller I Will Teach You To Be Rich by Ramit Sethi
    *Daily Drawing (28 winners): $50
    *Best Hub (4 winners): $100
    *People's Choice (4 winners): $100
    *Grand Prize (1 winner): $500

If you want to get three ADDITIONAL entries in the Daily Drawing for a day, publish on the day's topic.  Daily topics are displayed on the Topic Calendar on the Personal Finance page; deadlines are 12:00pm (PT) daily.  If you want to know when that is relative to your time zone, have a look at the current PT here

For more information about the contest, visit the Personal Finance page.  Good luck!

I really want to stress something - a lot of you are writing AMAZING Hubs, but you're not winning Staff Pick prizes because your titles are not optimized for search engines, and that is a HUGE part of our judging criteria.

For tips on how to do a good job in that department, visit: http://learningcenter.hubpages.com/hubcamp-sf-2/

And as a rule, STAY AWAY from generic guides - be specific, be descriptive, and title things like you would type out a search query (but capitalize words properly)

I've been on this for two weeks and can tell you don't expect to make money from Adsense. Now when it comes to people, there are many that are kind and humorous. It depends on the type of success you want.

But I want to welcome you and hope enjoy and profit from the ride.

I am not very good at digital stuff and I don't know exactly what the video format is, such as mp4, wmv, avi, and so on. I only know my iPod accepts mp4 video, my windows movie make supports wmv and if you want to upload your videos to youtube.com you have to make it into flv I think. And if you have a Camcorder video I think not many player can play it so just convert them.

You know I can easily manage those video format because of Aiseesoft Total Video Converter It allows you to convert videos to any video format you want(including HD video).

Here I will share with you how to use it:

        Step 1:  Load Video
You can load your videos into the converter by clicking “Add File”

        http://www.aiseesoft.com/images/guide/total-video-converter/screen-new.jpg

        Step 2: Choose output info
This converter provides you many output profiles for you to choose, you can choose your output profiles according to your need. And also you can just choose a certain video format.

You can also adjust the settings of  your output profiles. You can even save a certain settings as your own output settings.

        http://www.aiseesoft.com/images/guide/total-video-converter/settings-new.jpg

        Step 3: Conversion
Click “Start” button to begin your conversion and few mins later you can get your video.

Tips: How to effect, trim and crop the video to improve your output video quality.
After your Load your video you can click “Effect” button to access the effect panel

        1: Effect
Adjust the video effect as you want: Brightness, Contrast, Saturation and Deinterlacing.

        http://www.aiseesoft.com/images/guide/total-video-converter/effect-new.jpg

        2: Trim
Clip your video, pick up any part of your video to convert.
You have 3 ways to do trim:

        1.Dragging the slider

2.Controlling the “Trim From” and “Trim To” button

3.Setting the Start and End time

        http://www.aiseesoft.com/images/guide/total-video-converter/trim-new.jpg

        3: Crop
Adjust video size, Cut off the black edge of your video to let you enjoy your movie in full screen by click the 'Crop' button
You have 2 ways to do crop:

1.Move your mouse cursor onto one of the eight small adjustment boxes on the cropping frame and drag the crop frame to crop the video such as cutting off top and bottom black bar. The cropped result will be shown on the Output Preview at the same time

2.Type the value directly or set the value in "Left", "Right" and "Cropped area size" area to set the position of the cropping frame.

        http://www.aiseesoft.com/images/guide/total-video-converter/crop-new.jpg

You can also select the aspect ratio from the Zoom Mode drop-down list. There are 4 choices for you: Full Screen, 16:9, 4:3 and Keep Original.

After you convert your videos you can put your video to iPod, Windows Movie Maker, youtube.com, and other player without any problem.

To clear up any deadline confusion: The contest does not officially begin until 12:00pm (PT) TODAY (that's about two and a half hours from now, and the deadline for the first day of the contest (and first Daily Bonus Topic) is TOMORROW at 12:00pm PT.

NOTE: If you published an entry before the 12:00pm PT on January 3rd, it will not be counted; you need to delete that post and re-publish it before noon today in order for it to count for Day 1

That means that any Personal Finance Hubs published before noon today will not be seen as entries. Hope that clears things up!

Soon, we'll have a countdown clock up on our contest page that will make it easy to see when the deadline for a day (and its daily bonus topic) will be.  Unfortunately, it seems to be a bit off right now, and Fawntia, our brilliant Contest Page Behind The Scenes Mover and Shaker, is out sick, so we'll have to wait on that for just a bit, unless I can figure out what's wrong on my own.  Good luck!

and travel_man, I am not an A-1 hubber. They are many experienced hubbers better than me who have been writing hubs for the contest. I am just a tiny drop in the ocean. I counted today and found more than 100 hubs in the Understanding Finance subcategory for today.

One of mine was "published" early, too, but not because I can't tell time. I tried to save partway through a hub and hit "publish" by mistake. I pulled it down within five minutes, but my account wouldn't erase the date. So, like Simone said, I deleted and started over. Haste makes waste. Live and learn.

I am not sure that you are aware Soni , but you can have 5 entries plus one extra bonus entry for a total of 6 hubs in one day, if I am not mistaken.

The Daily Bonus Topic:  Every day of the contest features a Bonus Topic related to a weekly Personal Finance theme. Bonus Topics are designed to give you ideas for entries, and are entirely optional, however if you publish a Hub categorized within a contest day's Bonus Topic, it will be granted three additional entries in the day's Daily Drawing. (This does not have any bearing on the 5 per-day Hub limit).

each daily topic "is" the bonus topic I believe ie Understanding Finance

But I could be wrong, will wait for Simone, but saw you working hard and thought you might want that extra hub in.

        2. Simone Smith profile image82
Simone Smithposted 13 years agoin reply to this

The limit for a day for qualifying Hubs is five.  Any Hub within the Personal Finance category counts as an entry.  If you publish one entry and it is not related to the daily topic, it gets one Daily Drawing entry.  If you publish one and it IS in the Daily Topic category, you get three entries in the Daily Drawing.  If you publish five Hubs, and all are on the Daily Bonus Topic category, you get eight entries.  If you publish five and one is in the Daily Bonus Topic category, you still get eight entries.
I hope that clears things up big_smile

So does that mean if I published something at 5:30 am est that it wont count for that day?

        1. PhoenixV profile image65
PhoenixVposted 13 years agoin reply to this

The first contest started about 22 hours ago and has over an hour left to go, if you have published a hub under "personal finance" within the last 22 hours it should be eligible.

        2. Simone Smith profile image82
Simone Smithposted 13 years agoin reply to this

That's right - so if you published at 5:30am EST on January 3rd, that Hub will not be seen as an entry.  To fix that, you still have an hour to delete and re-publish that Hub so it counts for Day 1

Dorsi - I am not TOTALLY familiar with the way our entry tracking system works, but I think that you have to entirely delete a Hub to have it appear to have been published in the correct timeframe.

All you have to do to have a contest entry count is to publish it within the Personal Finance category.  You do not need to post links here - they do nothing (aside from kinda taking up space, hahaa ^_^)
