Good luck to everyone, so many wonderful submissions so little time, but I'm enjoying just about everything I've read from so many talented writers. Here's my submission for today:
http://jerileewei.hubpages.com/hub/Type … toum-Poems
I'm completely new here, dazed and confused with many things, and while I can follow direction, I have absolutely no idea whether the two entries I've made so far are actually in the competition or not, or if they even meet the word count requirement properly (some places I've read saying a minimum of 500 words and another saying it must BE 500 ) looking at some others though, I think it must be minimum. So if my two short stories are actually in the right place, managed to get in under what I can only perceive as some daily time thresh-holds, 'hubbed' under creative writing, with the tag 'contest' included, I should be fine. LOL But here's the links anyway. Thanks, I love entering these kinds of things; I'm sure I'll get a more of a handle on everything in the coming days:

Welcome to the Hubs your an added bonus to us here. Your absolutely brilliant and I am happy to follow and learn from you.
Ercolano: All entries must have a minimum of 500 words. It appears your stories are in the right place, and they look great! welcome to hubpages.
This is my tribute to fathers and sons and today's entry. I thank everyone who has come by my Hubs to read and leave comments or vote. I truly appreciate you all and am working hard to at read and vote up as many of yours as possible. Nest time HP has a contest, we should request more hours in the day!

Okay, here is my first entry. Sorry, but this one is a bit long at over 4000 words. Don't say you weren't warned.

maybe we should not have been warned
Good morning hubbers.
I have 2 stories today for the creative writing category. One is fiction and one non-fiction. These are very personal stories because they talk about my brother who was diagnosed in his 20's with paranoia schizophrenia. The fictional piece is based on "what-ifs" intertwined with pieces of my past living with a family member with a severe mental illness.
This one is the non-fiction piece called: "The Strawberry Shortcake: A Story of Homelessness":

The second short story is called "A Schizophrenic Episode" and is fiction.

I hope everyone is enjoying looking at these interesting entries as much as I am! I've posted another photo gallary about Cardinals, Road Runners and Possoms in my garden.

I didn't plan to enter the contest because I don't "do" contests. Then, though, I figured I may as well post an entry. Well, now a second one seems to have shown up. I guess that's how poetry can be sometimes.
The storm that knocked out our power for days last week certainly didn't seem all that " inspirational" at the time. And yet, a poem came out of it (now that we've had power for a few days, of course):

I have posted a fiction creative writing entry titled, "Chance Encounter or Meaningful Moment of Synchronicity" which can be viewed at:

There have been so many great entries by fellow hubbers and I'm still trying to catch up on reading as many of them as I can. This has been a fabulous contest so far and a lot of fun!
Another of my short commuting stories:

This is another chapter of my long form fiction serial, with enough recap to keep you in the story. You can also read the preceding chapters to get the whole feel for where the plot is going!

Am I right in thinking a contest day is from 4:00 PT until 3:59PM the next?
It runs from 12 noon to 12 noon the following day on the west coast.
I enjoyed putting together this photo gallery: Scenic Byways - A Photo Gallery of Abandoned Cars. http://stephaniehenkel.hubpages.com/_1m … doned-Cars

Here is my daily entry. I don't know that I can get one published every day but am having so much fun trying. I feel like I am in school again. Reading, Writing and Arithmetic. The math comes in when I figure out how many hours I need to read the new entries and to write my own!

I want to say a huge thank you for all who have found me and embraced my style of writing here, thanks, its a pleasure and everyone has been so welcoming. I woke up to a plethora of comments and fan mail this morning. Quite overwhelming. Thanks in particular to those who shared links to my hubs on external sites. How very kind. I'm glad I found this community.
Here is my entry today, about the scribbling of an astronaut witnessing the earth's annihilation:
http://ercolano.hubpages.com/hub/What-w … from-Space
I love having this thread up here. I think it helps to engage the community in a great way. Love to see the thumbs up, etc. Amazing entries! HP has so many talented writers.
Simone posted on another thread that hubber judges could submit entries as long as it's not in the category we judge, so I published one for the creative writing section. It's a short story method that can be used in early childhood classrooms, or in your own home if you have young children or grandchildren. http://rebekahelle.hubpages.com/hub/A-S … d-Licorice
There are over 700 entries already - probably going to be close to 2000 by the time we are done! How the heck are they going to pick the winners - me thinks it's going to be some late nights and more than a few beers!
Great to see so many people entering and so many great writers - really shows that Hubpages isn't full of junk writers but actually has serious talent.
Hubpages should publish an e-Book out of all the entries!
Here is my latest poem:
