Good luck to everyone, so many wonderful submissions so little time, but I'm enjoying just about everything I've read from so many talented writers.  Here's my submission for today:

I'm completely new here, dazed and confused with many things, and while I can follow direction, I have absolutely no idea whether the two entries I've made so far are actually in the competition or not, or if they even meet the word count requirement properly (some places I've read saying a minimum of 500 words and another saying it must BE 500 ) looking at some others though, I think it must be minimum.  So if my two short stories are actually in the right place, managed to get in under what I can only perceive as some daily time thresh-holds, 'hubbed' under creative writing, with the tag 'contest' included, I should be fine.  LOL  But here's the links anyway.  Thanks, I love entering these kinds of things; I'm sure I'll get a more of a handle on everything in the coming days:

    Good morning hubbers.
I have 2 stories today for the creative writing category. One is fiction and one non-fiction. These are very personal stories because they talk about my brother who was diagnosed in his 20's with paranoia schizophrenia. The fictional piece is based on "what-ifs" intertwined with pieces of my past living with a family member with a severe mental illness.

This one is the non-fiction piece called: "The Strawberry Shortcake: A Story of Homelessness":
    http://dorsi.hubpages.com/hub/The-Straw … melessness

The second short story is called "A Schizophrenic Episode" and is fiction.

I didn't plan to enter the contest because I don't "do" contests.  Then, though, I figured I may as well post an entry.  Well, now a second one seems to have shown up.  hmm  I guess that's how poetry can be sometimes.

The storm that knocked out our power for days last week certainly didn't seem all that " inspirational" at the time.  And yet, a poem came out of it (now that we've had power for a few days, of course):

Simone posted on another thread that hubber judges could submit entries as long as it's not in the category we judge, so I published one for the creative writing section. It's a short story method that can be used in early childhood classrooms, or in your own home if you have young children or grandchildren. http://rebekahelle.hubpages.com/hub/A-S … d-Licorice

There are over 700 entries already - probably going to be close to 2000 by the time we are done! How the heck are they going to pick the winners - me thinks it's going to be some late nights and more than a few beers!

Great to see so many people entering and so many great writers - really shows that Hubpages isn't full of junk writers but actually has serious talent.

Hubpages should publish an e-Book out of all the entries!
