I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. My grandfather passed away.

   I just wanted to leave a note for my HubPages friends.  Some of you may remember a comment or two where I posted about my grandfather.  He passed away on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving.  I received a call early in the morning.  My aunt called and said my grandfather was asking for me.   I drove with my son to see him (he was home from school because he just had tonsil surgery a few days before), and we got to hold his hand and be there when he took his last breath.   Many of you know my son has Autism.  He held his Papa's hand so courageously.  He felt closure from the experience. 
   
   The funeral was today.  So many people came out to pay respects.  I haven't been able to get on here in a while and just wanted to let everyone know that my grandfather (truly my father as he adopted me) was at peace when he passed.  He had suffered for two years with pancreatic cancer.

       Crafty, I am so sorry for your family's loss.  I have been thinking about you.  I suspected he may have been towards the end, with you not on HP.  We have missed hearing from you but are so glad that you and your son were able to be with your grandfather as he slipped from this world.  He knew that you loved him immensely, and he loved you as well.  He was an awesome man.  I recall what you wrote about him.  Peace and blessings to you and your family, sweetie.

   Sorry to hear that. It is a shame that you did not even get to have a last Thanksgivng with him. Did your family have a turkey dinner, even if you all would have been sad?

   I am very sorry for your loss, Crafty!  I am glad that you were able to see him before he passed away.  I am sure that he was probably more at peace to be surrounded by his close family.  It's good that your son was able to take in this experience.  Take good care of yourself!

   It is so hard to lose a loved one at any time, but around the holidays it is even more difficult, for a holiday gathering and the memories are so very special to all. His spirit was with you during Thanksgiving and was happy to see you all together with family traditions. I am so sorry you lost your dear grandfather. Please take comfort in that the love is still there, which will be a major part of the healing.

      Sorry for your loss. I work in a cancer center. So, I can imagine what it was like. Im glad you both had a chance to say goodbye. I wish the best for both of you.

   I lost my own father this year too, so I understand what you are going through.
   My deepest condolences.
   Things will get better although it may not seem like it just now.
   You will be able to enjoy Thanksgivings in future years, because it will be a time when you will remember all the good things about him, maybe shed some tears too.

    Last week was very difficult.  I helped with cleaning out the remainder of his personal belongings.  He had saved things from when I was a child like my first piano recital announcement. 
    
    I'm slowly getting back in to the swing of things here, and coming back to HP with this huge support from all of you really makes my day. 
    
    I have a lot of catching up to do!  Thank you all for your tremendous support.
