Almost all the answers here are bizarre!   You are not evil, but you're weird and wrong.  There is no such thing as psychic powers.  You are just delusional. No one has questioned this presumed ability? No, you can't talk to the dead, friend.  It just doesn't happen, except in Hollywood movies. You have not received any honest and intelligent opinion thus far. It's not whether you're evil, it's just you're a little sick, so are many of the posters here.

Some people are born with gifts originated from previous lives.
You should question things a bit more and not be so close minded to everything. Do your own research and don't put a blindfold in your face, saying that everything's a lie and the like..

I'm not close-minded, but I see that most (if not all) the responses here are as weird as the original poster's. Everyone buying into this psychic non-sense without even giving any possibility to it being irrational and delusional.

No, of course you are not evil. But you cannot mix witchcraft and Christianity together and expect good things. Leave the Tarot cards and draw closer to the Lord. It is He who has given you a gift but He can't use it fully inside you until you stop mixing His word and His will with the occult.

The more time you spend in His presence, the more He will be able to use you for His purposes, and the more fulfilled you will be as a result.

No, I don't think you are evil at all.  You have a different and unique perspective on life and death.  How do you fit into Christianity?  That, I don't know and can't answer.  By helping people with your God given talents I would say Christianity should welcome you.

Hm... It troubles me a lot that you claim having such an ability, yet you're so badly influenced by this truly bothersome religion. (by the way, I'm new here, so please excuse my anonymity, I hadn't yet had time to edit my profile information)

Based on what history has shown us, the true, obsessed, 100% christians despise the occult. There have been witch hunts and the like, and seeing how psychic you are in this lifetime, you were probably a witch in your previous lifetime (being a witch is not bad; it has nothing to do with what movies, holywood, and other extremely wrong sources are telling us).

Anyway... Christianity is anything but an original religion... Each tiny bit of its concepts are stolen from Pagan Religions that preceded christianity for a good amount of centuries and millenniums. Even the numbers in the christian "books" (bible and the like) are based upon spirituality, on which, the Pagan religions supported their beliefs... but of course, everything is distorted.

As a human being to another, and not as a brain washed religious being, I am telling you to embrace your ability but NOT tell others about it... Only when you really believe you can help someone who's in great need, otherwise it will be really dangerous for you... Once more, based on what history has shown us... The *unique* elite of people are not accepted in this world. They are either hunt down and crucified, burnt alive, or, with the most "modern" ways, they are taken as an experiment by organizations.....

Anyway. I suggest you to study a site, for the whole christianity scum (unless you're afraid of spreading your wings) and I'm quite confident that you *will* find answers about your psychic abilities as well... The site: www.exposingchristianity.com
    Good luck.

Note: I'm sorry, I forgot to add something, seeing other people's responses as well... You need to understand (and everyone needs to understand that actually) that no one truly "defines" your fate. No one can tell you what you can and can't do, just like no one can tell you what your purpose is in life.
I see people here are telling you to "pray to god and he'll tell you what to do" or "do god's work" and the like... Things are not like that. If you believe that we have our own free will, then you should know better than that...
Don't let anyone limit or restrain you.

    Hi Marie,
You have a wonderful gift one that was given to you whether from God or inherited, please make the most of it which i am sure you do.

Why you say you can't label yourself as a Christian I don't know, you must help so many people without even wondering or caring what religion they are following. I would say to use this wonderful gift 'unconditionally' is a true Christian.
Some people will be skeptical but that is because they don't understand, or they are frightened of the unknown.

Carry on with your gift my friend life has a funny way to make one 'fit' in.
    God Bless.

I honestly don't prefer to get into talks like these, but i feel inclined to say this. abilities like that are like a sword or gun: they're only as good or evil as the wielder. a sword can't swing without a hand having caused it, nor could a gun shoot. good and evil are mentalities of people. they should be considered, yes. but only people themselves can dictate what they put those mentalities into. so, to answer your question, I don't know. Do you use those powers for questionable purposes? if so, yes you are evil. If no, you're fine.

No I do not think you are evil. I think that having psychic abilities is a gift. However if the intent of someone who has this gift is evil, then yes, they are evil. That may sound narrow minded but that is just how I see it.
I have limited psychic ability so to say that someone is evil because of their ability would include me in that negative connotation of such activity.
There are always those who will find fault with what we do. If you are content and know you are using this gift in a positive way, then that is what matters.
Angels are on the way to you this morning.  ps

Where you fit best now is in a psychiatrist's office chair. There is no such thing as being psychic, but there are conditions that may make you believe you are experiencing psychic phenomena. Seeing dead people is a particular symptom.

Concerning your worries regarding Christianity, it seems like you are worried about the single line in the bible (Leviticus I think), that mentions a heavenly ban on the practice of 'magic'. First, note that this line does not actually mention psychic abilities. So, even if by some miracle the scientific record that has repeatedly failed to find valid evidence of psychic powers is wrong and you do talk to dead people (who apparently have nothing better to do), then you are still okay.

Secondly, the word 'magic' just happens to be the best word the translaters could come up with when describing a particular set of charlatan practices. it doesn't mean what we commonly think it does.

Dr. Marie, in all humility, I'm still learning. But I hope I can answer your question.

I know the Old Testament has a prohibition against certain kinds of "magic." I don't know what that means.

All I can say is that greater awareness is a good thing. I recommend that you continue to push for greater awareness.

I have studied many religions and found truths in each of them. I have experienced what some might call "miracles." One was as powerful as that of Moses parting the sea. I have seen the world without human eyes, but as clearly as one might see anything with physical eyes.

Jesus wanted us to perform miracles and was disappointed when someone did not show sufficient faith.

I have had some so-called Christians call me evil for the miracles I have performed. Labels do not make anyone "Christian."

I was born with certain abilities that were my inheritance from my past lives.

I am a Christian who struggles to become more humble and loving. I struggle to give up my selfishness and to give more freely to others.

From my current standpoint, I would say that you are very much a Christian. Any paranormal ability does not prevent one from being so. It has more to do with what you do with your talents.

Ego is the biggest barrier for us all. Ego is the separateness that split us from our true selves and blinded us, driving us from the Garden.

Ego is vulnerability. Ego is entitlement. Ego is self separate from others. Having such abilities only means that one has relaxed ego enough to allow those abilities. Keep letting go of ego and you will continue on the path.

"the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls and tenement halls" so don't keep your's in the sounds of silence.  Our minds are overwealmed by thoughts we are taught to recite by a society that would make itself typical, but the typical is the false... when that typical is discarded our minds open to the whispers all around us... good and evil is simply the "better" and the "worse"... strive to remember the "better" and you'll be ok...

I believe that some of us have gifts given from "above" and God knows who to pick that will use that gift for the good. Although we have free will and may turn on that gift for our own personal use, the Holy spirit does know this, but it will take care of itself through the Holy spirit. We must always be humble.

I usually can spot a phoney or a so called "story teller" as it is not hard to read someone through cold readings or even just their body language. Some people are an open book and do not realize they give away so much info in their readings that they are amazed at the answers.

Anyway I know someone on here who does awesome readings and never asks for anything in return. That is real. I believe "gifts" are free and should come without a price. When you start charging (like most do) it should be done in a way that is too help not only yourself but others.

However once they start talking about being able to talk to the dead, I am in disbelief as the dead is left dead and we do not gain our future from the passing of others. When a reader says you need to pay to rid yourself of spells, another red flag

I do believe that spirits can come to us with answers but that is totally different than the ones passed over. I have felt my dads presence many times after he left this world, and had dreams of talking to him but that is for me only.

I myself feel like I have a gift, I think for the most part we all do have some sort of ability, whether we enhance it or not is totally up to the Holy Spirit.

But as far as being evil, I dont think so, not if your gift is humble.

    Good luck.
I myself do not go to readings or readers however I do have visions and dreams of future events.

It would be interesting to meet a "real" spiritual reader.

    Blessings
    Laurie

I have you ever saught help to sort out  your real reasons for seeing things?  Maybe it is a real reason from childhood, or another experience and maybe not Psychic at all?

Please know I am positive you are a good person, and I am not trying to be insultive towards you at all here.

Also, please consider- You are not evil!

Why would you ever make yourself think you could be truly evil?  Without a real inward and honest based fact search based on your daily actions?

What or who would attempt to prove that to  a person?  Just because some religious thought process hinted of guilt from the fact you see diferently?  You should not feel like this at all.

Unless you know inside of you, for a fact, know you are that.  And that would have to be based on real and known repeate actions that you are aware of all the time..

So do not let people tell you that. You are the only one to know that.
I am sure also that you are moral and know right from wrong, or you would not even ask the question about yourself in the first place.

Remember, these are confusing times for people now,   and there is a lot of crazy self made beliefs all slung about on people.  Please do not be taken in by self-richious people. Please take care of yourself first, you deserve that for yourself.

I would say; Sort out  all the feelings you have, ask for some real assistance with it- A trained professional.   Do not cary false guilt around with you and let people use it to play with your heart and your Mental health. You deserve better.

again, I am sorry for being so direct.     smile

Sorry!  You could be a child of Satan. Satan has the power to see in the future, but he does not have the power to change the future. Talking to dead people is not a God-given ability, it comes from Satan.  You say that you believe in God & Jesus & the Holy Spirit. Satan also believes.  But, have you asked Jesus into your life and have you accepted Jesus as your savior.  Then ask in the name of Jesus Christ and it needs to come from your heart;  "Father, rebuke Satan and take the evil out of me and make me a new person with my faith in Jesus."  With faith you will receive the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit will give you discernment to understand the True Spirits that come from God!

      Dan Klein,
The Hebrew-Christian Bible is God-breathed (divinely inspired). Therefore, their age makes no difference. BTW, the OT is far older than 2000 years old. The eternal God is able both to inspire and to preserve His word/message to humanity.

I believe it is wrong to predict other people's future.  Here is why I say that.  First, ONLY God knows the future 100%.  Second, I was bilked out of a lot of money by a women who used my vulnerability and deep pain from a broken heart.  It was like $30 for every 10 minutes.  She claimed to be a Christian too.  I wept bitterly over this man and I wanted to get back together with him.  She kept telling me it would happen over and over again over the course of two years (2007-2009).  I treated her like she was God and had all the answers.  I was emotionally and financially drained.  I owned around ten decks of Tarot cards.  I could get a three card shuffle to show the same exact cards three times over.  It even spooked me.  Whenever I asked the tarot cards about him personally I got the coldest cards that he was "indifferent".  She said "No, he still cares blah blah blah."  I ended up returning to my faith after jumping hoops through all the NEW AGE hocus pocus stuff as I like to call it.  It's like looking for truth in the desert.  You end up with endless mirages and nothing SOLID.  I finally surrendered to the Lord and threw out all my tarot card decks!  I renounced the hold that the cards had over me.  I turned my trust over to God.

One pastor said in a sermon, that these "psychics" are getting their information from demons.  They are not from God.  These demons would get part of the answer and it was the part from Satan and not the TRUTH from God, which led to addiction.  I finally have peace and my 'psychic" addiction is over.  I backslid back in 2011 and tried free tarot online and I felt a heavy dark presence and I felt as if I was being "watched".  I was urged by my friend to STOP! She prayed for me and that was the end of it.

I do not think you are evil at all.  I just think evil spirits are trying to communicate with you.  I ONLY trust God and his Word with respect to my future and Jesus tells us not to be anxious for anything and the Bible explicitly tells us to stay away from fortunetellers who claim to know the future.  ONLY God knows the future.

I finally have peace of mind and I have absolutely NO DESIRE to ever contact a psychic for the rest of my life.  The sad thing is millions of people are addicted to psychics because they are in a lot of pain and they are suffering inside.  They need Jesus to heal them.  That was how I finally found peace personally.

I will never claim to speak for someone else.  I am just sharing with you my personal story.  I don't care what people think of me.  I just know that I was dying inside and wanted the psychic to tell me he loved me and still cared for me.  I was pathetic.

As for the guy, he ended up getting married in 2009 to someone else. I had the guts to finally do a Google search this year out of curiosity. wink

i have to say, some small amount of psychic is in my family, i can see a bit into the future, but it is a random thing, not something i practice or try to make stronger. i dont believe such things are gifts from GOD, i believe some people use more of their brain than others. having said this, i do not understand how you can ask such a question. if you truly wanted to be a "Christian" then you already know your answer. GOD says interacting with the dead is a sin, one that in earlier times was punishable by death. nothing blurry about that. CHRIST says if you are not for HIM you are against HIM...black and white. if you are for HIM, then you obey HIM/GOD. what you are seeking by asking this is justification...you want people to tell you there is nothing wrong with what you are doing, when it isnt people you should be asking, but GOD. as someone else said...GOD doesnt give gifts that go against HIS statutes or laws. that is like saying GOD makes people gay or lesbian when HE clearly states such people are abominations.

Remember that Christianity is only about 2,000 years old.  And Judaism, from which it was born, is only 4,000 years old.  Were all people evil before the advent of Judeo-Christianity?   I doubt it, though most Christians would have you believe so; and they are converting other cultures, and thus these ancient and rich cultures are being obliterated in the process.
In today's society, it is difficult to be different.  So many people today, even if they are not Christian, have a fear of the Christian God.
No, you are not evil.  There is so much more to explore in the world of spirituality other than what is taught by Judeo-Christians today, and those who dare have both a gift and a curse.
You have a gift that can help others.  Therefore, nurture it.  You also have a curse, because it will be difficult to fit in.  So you must be strong and persistent within yourself concerning your talents and beliefs and yet accept all others although they are different from you.
    It is an art.
I recommend that you read books by people who are of like mind.  Go to the New Age section of a book store to get started.  Don't forget to check out the bibliographies.

Well, to answer your question: Yes prior to judao/ christianity everyone WAS evil. How do we know that? Scripture makes it crystal clear that NO ONE is righteous before God, and ALL SINNED. You miss the whole point of Christ if you dont see that.

Well first of all, there is a difference between believing in God and Jesus, and being saved. Many people call themselves Christian, but have never accepted Christ as their savior. So I don't know which category you fall under.

However, years ago, I dabbled with Tarot cards myself, more out of curiosity concerning God's ability to direct me through any medium; and my steadfast refusal to place God in a box of man's making or choosing. My use of them was for self only. When I matured enough to realize that I didn't need any props in order for God to speak to me, or guide me; I threw the cards away. I had to show God that I was not dependent on them, nor idolized them. My only source now is God's word, the bible.

As to talking to the dead, the only one scripture that I'm aware of identifies someone that did this, and this person was identified as a witch. The bible speaks against divination. As to being psychic, the bible also mentions seers - people gifted with an ability to see things others cannot. Under that definition, I too am a see-er, but I don't see the dead.

My gift and ability to see has to do with a dream gift - this site is where I write about such gifts: http://anintroductionofsandra.blogspot.com/. I can also translate when God gives me insight.

My other gifting as a seer is in my massage style and technique - http://issuesinyourtissuesmassagetherapy.com. I can see or read pain patterns in people's bodies just by looking at their feet. I have been the catalyst for many people's pain to be relieved after I have released their muscles, and only if they follow my recommendations. I give God all the glory for that, because He enables me to see as I do, and help the muscles to release to alleviate pain.

No, you aren't evil. However, if you truly want to be a part of God's Kingdom, you have to turn your heart and your gift over to God, and allow Him to use it for His glory. Understand that there will be many spiritually immature people in Christ that will not understand your gift, but if you daily turn it over to God, He will use you and give your life great purpose and fulfillment. Be blessed.

    "Dr Marie"

I don't mean any disrespect when I say this but you do err not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God. First let me say this, if you are truly a Christian in every since of the word - meaning that you FOLLOW CHRIST - then you should know that out of ALL the people in the Bible that would have "psychic ability" it would be CHRIST JESUS - BUT - NO WHERE in the Bible does it mention Him using that term - it mentions that He knew their thoughts but it never mentions Him using it toward the people in a "psychic" manor - He used it merely to show WHO HE IS to those around Him.

In the Old Testament you would be considered a "Seer" which is spoken against - they were used to conjure up the dead as you claim to have the ability to do - what you fail to realize as a Christian - that is not a God given gift - they were banned in King Saul's day and when he went to seek one to bring Samuel back - well being a Christian you should know the story.

Again, I don't mean to sound disrespectful but the mere fact that you are openly admitting that you read Tarot cards and talk to the dead tells me that you do NOT know the Bible - instead of reading the Tarot cards - read the BIBLE - it is the Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth!! It is God's Word for those who believe that HE is the One True God and Jesus Christ is His Son and the Holy Spirit was sent to lead us into ALL TRUTH!! I could sit here and go on and on in a judgmental fashion but you don't need MY judgment. Study to show yourself approved UNTO GOD - it's Him that you have to answer to in the end.

There are many people out there who have spiritual abilities. Most of the ones I've meet are Christian believe it or not. Many of them, including myself have gone thought the same line of questioning. For instance my mom, she is a what they call a dreamer: a person that can see things to come, within there sleep; while she was growing up within the westIndian islands, see was called a witch because she could have seen all the things her ex boyfriends were doing when she was away. LOL. My point is there are many people like you who believe in Christianity and fight for Christ everyday of there lives and are judged for there gifts. You are the one who has to choose what kind of person you want to become in life and what you want to use your gift for regardless of Good/Evil. No one can determine that nor judge you except God him self. When I went trough the same line of questioning I asked my enemies, " who were god fearing people as myself", a question.
"Do you know what makes me a good Christian?"
                                               My heart & that alone.
At the end of the day, that is what God judges me and you on; for those people hearts where in the wrong place even-tough they were Christians and when they came against me to question who I am I prayed that good would clear my path from them and he did and they couldn't even speak hi to me because of shame.
God don't like uglyness at all; so let God be your guard and your guide.
Follow God because there is a Devil out there, and people who follow him; they will try to take what's yours and use your on gift against you, so pray to God if he is who you want to walk behind as you stated....    He will Guide you psalms 91. Every day

That's an interesting question, Dr. Marie.  In American society today, lots of people define themselves as being "spiritual but not religious," and many have embraced the New Age of spirituality since the 1960s that celebrates a plethora of psychic and otherworldly experiences.  Often contemporary perspectives toward Christianity include a healthy respect for persons who are capable of using psychic abilities such as telepathy, clairvoyance, and precognition.  In some cultures, these abilities are actually required for shamans and serious adherents.  There are some Christians who consider psychic phenomena to be satanic, and this idea is perhaps the basis for your question.  For folks who identify with being both psychic and Christian, this perspective leads to what Leon Festinger called "cognitive dissonance," a situation in which someone holds two worldviews which are in conflict.  Some might think they have to choose one aspect of themselves over another, perhaps by being either Christian or psychic, but I think the current cultural response provides a pathway out of this dialectic.  It is not at all problematic, or evil, to be psychic in the age of spirituality that embraces ways of experiencing God that we may not completely understand.  Seeing and speaking with persons who have passed from this plane of existence, and knowing some things about the future, seem to be things you experience as sacred.  Your experience and your individualism is your compass to find the way to God and to know truth as is can only be found in a mystical realm.  You  have been given a wonderful gift and a pathway to embrace your God.

'Christians have a healthy respect for psychics, clairvoyance etc.'. Are you serious? If they do, then it's no christian who respects God's word on the matter. Scripture makes it clear that it's a detestable act as God sees it. Read leviticus/Deut.

Interesting set of answers by everyone. There is no such thing as a real psychic. You are simply a very sensitive person to pick up other peoples emotions and can interpret them very well. Seeing and talking to dead people, you need to see someone about that. You have a very vivid imagination, ghosts don't exist either apart from within our own mind.

Wow--you asked this question 4 years ago it looks like and it is still a popular one!  I'm not sure if you need more input into this one or not.  :-)  But for what it's worth, here is what I know.

Having gifts that go beyond the natural senses is not good or evil in of itself, as people have said.  The biggest difference here is the source of the information.  The psychic taps into the spirit realm and can get information from a variety of sources.  Sure, some might come from God.  But there is no protection from the deceitful way that the enemy tries to influence people and events through this realm.

The prophetic person, on the other hand, also has access to the spirit realm and can discern what is going on, but is dialed in to getting reliable information from only trustworthy sources.  Even these people can be fooled if they don't know how to "test the spirits" as the Bible talks about.

Another difference:  the psychic can see and tell things, but the prophetic can not only see but also affect or cause things to happen. If you could look at the ancient pictographic Hebrew language, this difference is very clear.

There is a gift in you that the enemy wants to exploit for his purposes and the tricky thing about the "deceiver" as he is often called--is that he is very tricky!  He's the big counterfeit.  He copies the things of God and puts his own spin and purpose on it.

The church has for the most part lost touch with the supernatural and settled for just the natural (at least in much of the West) so the enemy provides the supernatural for those that are aware of it.  Go after the real deal and be certain your source is pure.  Check out the book The Seer by James Goll.

I don't think you are evil.  But you have to understand that these dead people are "familiar spirits," aka demons pretending to be dead people.  Why would they do that, you ask?  To lead people away from the bible.  I won't get into that.  Just remember there is a lot of deception in the world, and the dead person you think you're talking to is really a demon.  As for the Tarot Cards, also remember that demons are habitual liars and you should not become dependent on them.
