I just came up with a new idea for our topic, I already wrote mine so if anyone wants to use this idea it's up for grabs

    the big bang theory
a history of bangs in hairstyles.

This my entry into the hubmob. Every hubmob needs a DJ and tonight I'm spinning the 80's.
PLUS you'll get a glimpse of me with hair on my head. BAH!

Oh screw it!  I've been trying to figure out how to make a screenshot for half an hour, it ain't workin'.

So, I'll just tell you....hairdo's 1950's brings up my hair hub on Google's page 1 (one), 4th from the top - well above the fold.  If you take out the apostrophe (hairdos), it's still on page 1, but second up from the bottom.

    Yippee!

I finally discovered an easy way to make screenshots after all of this time.

      1. Hold down ctrl, alt, prt scr all at the same time.
      2. Go up to file and select save page as.  Make sure to save page under the picture file on your hard drive.
      3. Click on my documents and then open my pictures.
      3. Your file should be in my pictures.

Thx, SweetiePie!!!  It saved the page...when I click on the saved file, it opens the whole page.  Is that what's supposed to happen?  How do I get it to here?

Now I see what you mean.  I thought you just wanted to save it to your computer.  There is a way to use the BBCode do put it in the forum, and I am still experimenting because it is not working for me.

      How about
ONE BIG MOB by RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS?

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BETM1_EL … re=related

      I am you are me
Good woman said you gotta believe
Submerge into the urge of we
      Deliciously the mystery

      [Chorus:]
One big mob aw yea aw yea
One big mob aw yea aw yea
Ek bara mala aw yea aw yea
Ek bara mala aw yea aw yea

      Ooze into into my noodle
East or west shepherd or poodle
      Ladybug pinetree
      To mingle with the bumblebee
      A lover to the sun
And a brother to the cool breeze

      [Chorus]

      Scrawled upon the wall
      Of a bathroom stall
      A stranger wrote a note
      That spoke to all

      One two buckle my shoe
      Take care of me
      'Cause I might be you

      [Chorus]

      We live in the city
      We live in the jungle
      It's time to be drinking
      A thimble humble
      Everything you ever see
Is never more than you and me
Give it on in to the beauty of the mystery

One big mob in one big home
      A broken home
I'd like to share some air with you
      Some air with you
A morning forest full of truths
      The green is blue
The head that's getting pregnant lives
      To give and give
What was I thinking in my head
      The color red
      Breaking hearts instead of bread
      Something I said
      Checkmated by frustration...
      ...Need to be cut loose
A different kind of being lost
      ...A sullen cost

      Picaboo street
      in Timbuktu
      Do I need repeat
      That a boy
      named Sue
      Rockin'
      to the beat
      Of the kangaroo
      Let me kiss your feet
      And your
      forehead
      too

      OUR CHANT!!

ONE BIG MOB AW YEAH AW YEAH
ONE BIG MOB AW YEAH AW YEAH
Ek bara mala aw yea aw yea
Ek bara mala aw yea aw yea

I have no idea what that means and that's what makes great for a mob.

This is my first post ever in the Hubpages forum.

I just wanted to say I've enjoyed reading this thread and love the many Hubpages created around the hair topic. Who knew there were so many different takes on it?

When Ryan mentioned "mullets" I had to laugh. Yeah, I sported one in the late 80's while in college. Too funny!!

And there is nothing like accidentally going from a mullet to a flat top. That's what happens when you give unclear direction to someone who has never cut your hair before. ;-)

    All the best,

    Mark

YO! Where's the love? Maybe someone can explain this too me. This is regarding Google searches of my hair hub. It has a somewhat long title so the complete title is not something someone would be entering into a search engine, but bear with me.

If I enter the whole title, I come in 1st (along with a little bit about Spryte's hair hub), and 2nd (mine alone) and both of them are labeled Hot Hub. But I also come in 3rd (and here is where it gets weird.) at the 3rd position, it's my article but the search result is to a site called Oto's Blog. When you click and go to Oto's blog, there is the title of my hub along with the promo paragraph. It looks like you can click on it and go to hubpages, but it wasn't working, apparantly because the comment section was closed.

I also entered "Redheads: Myths, legends" and Otto's blog came in 2nd, and I came in 3rd.

Then I entered "Redheads myths and legends" and Otto's blog came in 1st and I came in 9th. Again, if I haven't explained this adequately, Otto's blog is my hub too, but this appears to be some "middle man" type of deal on the way to my hub on hub pages. Anyone encountered this before? I'm pretty happy with these results but I wish Otto would mind his own business.

I am posting a link on my HubMob hair hub for those that didn't post their contribution to this week's HubMob topic request.  If you posted a Hub on the topic, but forgot to do it as a response to the request, let me know, and I will add a link to your Hub on mine.

Otto is doing what alot of very irritating websites do..and swiping your content.  It is called scraping..except in this case he hasn't stole the whole thing and he is givng you links back so there isn't much you can do.

On one of my network blogs the lawyers are constantly dealing with these sites.  Most of them are from India, Malyasia, etc...and you can't do much about it.

For everyone who hasn't followed this thread, my hair hub is competing with itself, but the competition is a site called Oto's Blog, where you see my title and summary paragraph, but the link doesn't work, so it's a dead end. This Oto's blog is appearing before my original hub in the search engine results (google), so it's frustrating.

I just checked it again and it gets worse and involves everybody. I went to this Oto's blog and clicked on a little link titled SEO. Guess what? Everybody is there. Just off the top of my head, I saw Shirley Anderson's (Swell and Groovy....), Shadesbreath's (Wigs on Whigs), Spryte's (nose hair) and pgrundy's (Critical thinking), just to name a few. Lots and lots of Hubpages hubs. Click on the previous button and it goes on and on. I'm sure everybody will find at least one of their hubs. They are all dead ends, but since Oto's blog is getting search engine result placement first (at least in my case) a person would have to try twice to actually get to my hub. There ought to be a way to contact Google and have them 86 this Oto's blog. If you want to see it, here's the link:

http://dung tomo.com/?cat=5 <link "broken" by mod to prevent SEO benefit to owner... copy and paste, removing the space if you want to go look>

I agree, there doesn't seem to be any. But if people click on his first, how likely are they to try it again using the correct link? I think I would think "oh...no, that link doesn't work, I tried it on the result above and it didn't work."  On one search result, it completely kicked mine off the page when it was just there last night and now his is in its place. Whatever its purpose, it seems sinister to me as, clearly, it is affecting my placement in search results. On one search last night, I placed 1st and 2nd and he was 3rd. Now it's just him and I am nowhere to be found.

I misread what you guys said earlier, but it might be some of the Indian hubbers.  They do the backlinks thing before.  However, we should not jump to the conclusion they are disgruntled, they may just not know how to do the links properly.  I know several of the Indian hubbers did this before and it was controversy.

    Hi guys.

Paul Deeds and I have just investigated, and it appears to be a blackhat SEO operation to boost a certain e-card site.  There's nothing we can do, since they appear to be using our feed and the snippets they have are short enough to constitute "fair use," so the best thing we can all do is ignore it, and not link to the blog in the forums (hence me "breaking" the links above by inserting a space).

For anyone who is still following the saga of Oto, he has been mysteriously removed from Google search results! I have now been restored to my rightful place - Number 1!  Entering any two words from my title (pretty much) returns my "Redheads" hub in the #1 position, except for once I came in at #3. Yea! His site is still there, and it's still a dead end, but at least nobody knows about it.
