'Greensleeves' is one of my favourite pieces of music. Being more than 400 years old, it has historical connections, it has a melody which has a tranquil, rural feel to it, and it comes from a folk music tradition in England - and history, the countryside and folk music all number among my interests, so the username seemed appropriate.

Finally, it is a word which is easy on the ear and quite memorable, just as 'Queen of Cups' is. I see that the questioner here has written a hub about her username and I've done the same with 'Greensleeves', exploring the history of the song and my association with it. I would suggest as a side issue that the inspiration for their username would make a good subject for any other hubber who is looking for ideas for a new hub.

I always seem to be late on the uptake of hubs and forums.....by the time I get to them, usually, there have been pages and pages of comments from my favourite commentators, and I have been wondering where everyone has gone to!
Then I enter the conversation without bothering to check back on the theme; my first comment is then right off course, everyone blinks in surprise and I feel embarrassed.... once again.....just a jonnycomelately!.

I have had this username for many years going way back into the late 1980's when I first discovered computers.  I liken myself to be like the Lady Guinevere in the Camelot Legends and stories.  I, too, sit on the fence between Organized Religion and that of the much older Pagan system.  They both intertwine with each other many times.  Guinevere was Christina but it was said that Arthur was Pagan and there you see the problems that Guinevere had.  As Guinevere had to live in both sets of beliefs, I do too.  Neither is right and neither is wrong. I had a hub written about all that but had to take it down because of the turn from good to really evil comments that I got calling me all kinds of awful names.

The phrase "Christofer's Flow" was a self explanation, that my ideas and inspiration do come flowing out of me; sometimes unbidden, sometimes relentlessly, but always, like a mountain stream, a trickle, or a cascade, right there going into the lake of larger consciousness.  It is also a plain statement that when one writes, one is expressing a style and timbre that is one's own unique way.  Not God's truth, or the absolute truth or a committed philosophy, just what issues from my "pen" in a whole hearted and enthusiastic way to those out there who wish to read, and hopefully, enjoy.

I now use Gina145 on all the sites on which I write, but I've had problems at places like Twitter  where it was already taken, so you may come across a Gina145 somewhere online who is actually a different person.

I feel inspired when I see so many people choosing meaningful user names.  After all, we don't have the luxury of choosing our first names.

I am very passionate about names, but I often don't find the same interest from others.  Names don't seem to matter until they becomes nicknames.  We don't feel good when people call us names.  But how names came into existence?  We were called names - fat, tall, proud, brave...

I didn't create my nickname, it has found me, but because it had too many deep meanings and associations, it stuck forever.  I may choose another first name, I may choose a pen name, but I cannot imagine changing my nickname.

When something fits you perfectly, like your skin, you don't change it (technically, skin is getting renewed, but it still remains yours and is alive as long as you live).

I wrote the story about my nickname:

    http://kallini2010.hubpages.com/hub/Nam … r-the-Name

HP does not like personal stories, but I think it is a matter of taste.  I, for one, don't like profiles - I think profiles are like resumes - the most unimaginative writing!

    Emanate Presenceposted 11 years ago

Good question, Queen of Cups, and a lot of fun and interesting answers.

I remember reading about the deeper meaning of your username and enjoyed getting to know you some through your description.

I have mentioned in other places that my username came from a dream - vision in the night. The words were spoken, 'Rather than Exert Power, Emanate Presence.'

The saying was still strong when I awakened in the morning.

My first username on the internet was Vision River. It was like an alternate identity. I even looked into legally changing my name to V. Sean River! I remember having checks printed with Vision River at the top, and a clerk saying, 'Thank you, Mr. River.' It suited me.

Vision River was confirmed and made more potent to me by the inner voice. I was working in a corporate mailroom, and on my time editing a book called Vision River Guide, for online and print. I had come to the name through serendipity, by trying out various combinations until I hit upon one I liked.

As I pushed a mail-cart through six floors of hallways, I thought about Vision River Guide, 'This is so big, so much for one person. How will I ever do it all?'

My next thought, as I went into the men's room, was 'I trust the River.'

That meant to me the flow of life, of the Universe.

And then, standing at the urinal, I heard clearly the inner voice. It came from a deeper place than my 'ordinary' thought. It was from a place of knowing. It said, 'I *am* the River.' The humor was in the profound sense of the words which were spoken from that sacred space, while peeing. I was so moved I wept for joy. I just did not want to leave the place where the voice came from. It was a connection to the greater reality for me, for many years.

The new username came when I wasn't thinking about it, just in the right moment. Kati told me recently that she also identifies with Emanate Presence. That makes it especially meaningful to me.
