I'm in for 30 hubs in 30 days. So, we start publishing on Monday? Does it have to be one a day, or can you double up some days and have other days with none?
I am confused to use a new acc or old one.??????
Help me please.
Whatever you want -Im going to use a new one a) to hide my niche sites and b) to see if I can bring up a new account to the same level as "lissie"
I would say only start a new account if you're targeting a specific niche or you want to be able to track/monitor your results. Otherwise, this account should serve you fine. I'm going to be writing both places (here & a new profile).
Why not - more likely to be 30 than 100, but it should be interesting.
Everyone in the challenge is welcome to go to my blog and post a comment with your "100 hubs in 30 days" blog post. I will also be report my progress their too. http://www.ysdata.com/blogger/100-hubs- … bpages/241
I sympathize! We just had a really reliable ISP provider in our state bought out. There is only one way to get DSL through a phone company here, so we had to go with the new company. It is AWFUL. They are constantly being fined for providing poor service. Get this - our DSL now costs more and is slower and also occasionally doesn't even work! lol it's insane.
Thanks girly. Crossing my fingers it will improve next week!!! Or better yet tomorrow. That is just an hour away since it's almost midnight.
Along with writing 100 hubs, I'm doing a video series too "Dairy of a Mad Hubber" on youtube. Check out the pre post http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVpRvsJUQhg
@ysdata - you must be insane - I have to do my usual work blogs as well so I will barely have time to write them.
@jimmy - I will probably have to get a few from there.
But I am crazy enough to do the HubChallenge !
Didn't I look crazy in the video. Stressed out already, but I really want to complete the challenge and have fun along the way. I'm thinking posting videos of me (crazy and caught on tape) will create a couple of LOL(s)
Ryan - I'll give it a shot. I am certain I can write 30 in thirty days and will shoot fot 100.
Can we include HubMob Hubs written during the 30 day period as part of our 100 Hubs?
You can definitely use your HubMob Hubs!
Any way that you can knock 'em out, Chuck.
Just saw this blog post this morning -- some pretty interesting thoughts on the Hub Challenge. Be sure to read some of the comments, too!
http://seozombie.com/make-money-online/ … -hubpages/
Hey Ryan I won't be doing that because I have to have something specific to motivate me and one hub at a time now is what is motivating me. But I enjoyed doing the credit card hub for you. I had to make some corrections on grammar which got it off to a slow start, but it looks better now:))
I read the entire post from SEOZombie. I don't think the person uses hubpages. I also read the comments that pointed out some of hubpages controls in place. I understand the concern about writing hubs or posting to your own blog. I usually balance what will go on my blog and what I post to hubpages. However, this is a challenge -- so I don't mind posting the next 30 days worth of work to hubpages.
I also read the SEOZombie post and I understand his concerns but am not sure that they are entirely realistic, to be perfectly honest with you. I commented there but am also going to comment here, by the way. Different comments, go figure!
I haven't been working on my own site, in large part due to a lack of motivation. The niche that I have there is very competitive and doesn't rank well in Google. Not the most encouraging thing in the world, but I also know that if I work at it I can make things happen -- just no motivation right at this particular moment!
The thing is that for those of us who are taking the challenge as "experienced" hubbers (regardless of being new around here like I am), I don't think that there is much risk of us dragging the site down. I've hit a hubber score of 100. I have a hub that has reached a hub score of 100. I'm not making a ton of money, mainly because I don't do keyword research most of the time (will be for the challenge though!), but my hubs are reasonably good, and I have a goal in mind with what I'm doing for the challenge. Quality shouldn't have to suffer for quantity, and if I only manage fifty, fine. I've still benefited and so has Hubpages. Great!
ysdata, are you sure you're going to have the time to vlog every day? LOL
It takes me at least 1 and a half to do a hub.... But I've also got a seventeen month old at home
Ouch! I am banking on no more than 20 minutes per hub.
Holy crap! I thought I typed fast? You must be some kind of a wizard! Sheesh! Can I have some of whatever you're doing? LOL
I am a two finger, one thumb typist so I don't think typing skill comes into it
You must just have a giant brain to shove all that information to so that you aren't having to reference stuff!
Weird thing is that it's one of *your* hubs that I got my ideas for "how to hub" from. Crazy stuff, Mark!
Good for you though!
The hub I'm working on right now might not publish until after this thing is over as I expect it to take about twelve or more hours of work to finish! LOL
Same here...no typing skills, whatsoever.
Just imagine what we could do - if we could type.
I totally wish I could!!!! I barely have enough time to get a few hubs out every month!!! Even 30 would be quite an accomplishment for me. For all that are getting involved, best of luck and have fun!!!
This is just the kinda kick start I was looking for. Count me in, 100 hubs in 30 days!
100? as in "one hundred"? like a one with two zeros? Are you nuts?
It has taken me a year to get to 85. I am a slow writer
I wonder if I could do 30?
My idea file has about 17 topics right now...
I'm not going to commit, but I will step up my pace a bit-- Maybe I should just try to reach a total of 100 before the deadline. Might do that.
Rochelle, How funny! "Are You Nuts?" that was my first thought too!If I publish 2 hubs in a week, I get excited! But I will be cheering for all you wonderful hubbers who are taking the challenge. WooHoo Go Hubbers Go! P.S Hope you all get filthy rich from this challenge, I am looking for a loan with low interest rates (just kidding) :-)
"Do as I say, not as I do" - this is a great old saying... I've been saying for months to my blog readers that they should try to do 3/day for a whole year
But did I? Did I heck.... I'm up to about 35 hubs in 2 years.
But the facts speak for themselves... every day I spend at least 5-8 hours on one of my sites - and yet I can SEE EVERY DAY from my stats that hubpages earns me more than that whole website and all that effort!!!
So, yes, I want to give "3 a day" a go, which is nearly 100 ... so I might as well go the extra mile and yes, I am joining the hub challenge.
I am new to twitter too, so not entirely sure that I understand the instructions about tweeting yet... but I'll be adding hub challenge to my tags!
There. I'm in. I'll do it.
Watch this space.
And .... I challenge anybody to read ALL my 100 this time next month
LOL looking to get 100 visits to you hubs????????
LOLZ
I'm mad if I try to do this - my hubs tend to take between 4 and 8 hours each, but do contain 3,000 to 4,000 words, plus links, videos, amazon, news and RSS.
Sod it, I'll aim for 30 in 30, but 100? No way (-:
I may not even make it to 400...250 is my minimum With ebay, Amazon, and You Tube...
30 in a year would be nearer the mark for me. Where do you guys find the time?
To post 100 hubpages in 30 days is all dependent on focusing on hubpages for the next 28 to 30 days and not doing much else, but I am interested to see if I can pull it off and to see if being focused and motivated actually works when I've said I'll do 100 hubs.
If I find I can write 100 decent hubpages in 30 days then I could most certainly get my arse into gear and write a few books too.
Now that's what I'm talkin' about!!!
Everyone be sure to create new channels for your Hubs in AdSense so that you can be sure to track your earnings by Hub.
Ryan, give us a link to the directions on how to do that. (for those of us who don't already -- like me.)
Here is some info on how to create the AdSense custom channele -- follow the directions for creating a URL Channel:
http://www.skidzopedia.com/2009/03/29/u … -channels/
This sounds fun!
But unfortunately I don't have enough time to write a hub every night?! Considering I only have 2 hours to spare before hitting the z's. But I will gladly help brainstorm some topics to help you all out. Now I'm going to be thinking about his all day!?
I am hoping that the quality of hubs is not going to be affected. I think that there needs to be a minimum word count for this as some kind of guiding rule. Otherwise, people might just do hubs with pictures and captions, and you already hear some people talking about a 250 word hub. That's not a hub, 250 words makes it a hublet and are hublets going to count in this?
I don't consider 250 words a "hublet", you can get a lot of information in that amount. It is the minimum that Google accepts. It doesn't mean it will be low quality.
I'll be making my minimum criteria the content standard for a Capstone Serial hub:
Source
Though I have some on the drawing board that already exceed that.
I talk a little more about it in my blog post 100 Hubs in 30 Days: Strategy.
I've been telling myself for a while to "get serious" about this, so the challenge is timely for me. I've also been frustrated with myself that I haven't hit 100 hubs in my first year here...so, I'm in. For the 30 in 30. The day job is crazy busy so I don't know where I think I'll find the time but time to figure it out!
ok - blogged it :-)
http://dineane.blogspot.com/2009/05/blog-post.html
I think you can still create a quality hub or hubs with no problem. 1 or 4 a day is really not a whole lot. These challenges are actually good as it does force you to write more hubs, but don't forget about the quality. Both can happen at the same time.
I'm thinking that you're right...well, I am at the moment.
Ryan, I just read your comment on my blog about the 100 hubs in 30 days challenge at http://100hubs.blogspot.com/. I just wanted to say thank you for your comment and I am really looking forward to this challenge.
OK I just wrote my hubchallenge post! http://lissowerbutts.com/hubpage-challenge/
I just realized that I forgot to do something to reactivate my AdSense. I forgot to put in the pin they sent me! Silly me! I'm doing the challenge anyway, just won't get the results in the 30 days. It will be interesting to see the results from it when I have it going properly, though, and the results from eBay/Amazon as well.
KT -- I'm glad that you're still joining the challenge! I wonder how many posts this forum thread is going to end up being?? haha
Well I had officially posted my blog post about me attempting this challenge.
http://melissa.newhorizonspaces.net/200 … n-30-days/
Thanks for the blog post, Melissa and I'm guessing that you love Star Trek so I wanted to let you know that I wet and watched the new one on IMAX yesterday and it was AWESOME!!!
Probably won't have a whole lot of time to watch movies the next 30 days, so I thought that I should get one in.
I have not managed to see it yet, but I will as soon as I get some people to come with me. I am hoping this week or next week.
well, officially made it official on my blog http://cindy-vine.blogspot.com/
OOh this sounds like so mch fun!!& money too hopefully..lolzz I would have loved to join you all daring bodies but can't cos of my exams that begin in a few weeks
But my best wishes are with all the fellow hubber challengers!! your ROCK ppl!!
I hope u all earn tons of money
Hmmmm....well, how about 15 in the next 30 days?
Or, you could start your 30 days after finals?
people must be really addicted to starbucks to write so much
Nope I have a cunning plan - its called outsourcing...
Nope, just a little crazy.
So...are you taking the challenge? Come on, 1 Hub a day for 30 days isn't that bad, is it?
yee..haaaaaaa......... i'm going in....I have passed 100 hubs, but I'm not in the chalenge, so iwould start it again....can be me??? ah........
Ummm, does this mean that you're in?
Be sure to follow these instructions!
Here's my blog post about it...or rather my cat's post, since I write the blog from their points of view. http://pdxpride.blogspot.com/2009/05/mo … crazy.html
I was wondering if it counts if I do this with both of my accounts. Some things I don't want as CC Riter and they belong on 2C's. Can I do that Ryan? If I can I will be in on this. thanks
Of course -- you can use 2 different accounts. As long as you're using the same AdSense ID you can still track your earnings if you set up your channels by URL in your settings.
Here's some instructions on how you can do that (look at URL Channels):
http://www.skidzopedia.com/2009/03/29/u … -channels/
Thanks for this info. Count me in! 30 in 30 days.
Ok, I'm in for the 30 hubs in 30 days. Now to think of 30 topics ... eek.
EEEEK!
Glad that you're joining in!!
Please blog/tweet about it if you can!!!
I am 8 hours ahead of Greenwich mean time, so when can I start? What is the official start time in relation to GMT?
Just start on your Monday and we'll start on ours.
Kick us off with a good start, Cindy!
So we can start on our Monday our time! This is so funny. Let me see..it's now almost 4 am May 11.
I wish you have waited to do this around the summer months, I have more time then .
Oh well, good luck everyone! Remember, if your doing it don't lack quality even though your increasing quantity-time!
Luck again,
~thranax~
Hey thranax, we still need cheerleaders!!!
LOL. Ryan, sheena is in. She will take the challenge on top of her busy sched. I have written quite a few that hasn't been published yet...I'm waiting for our website to go beta launch so I can post what I have written. For now, I am going to do my best to add some more.
SWEET!!!
Are you in for 100 or 30 in 30 days??
Spent yesterday mulling over the challenge and have my list of 100 hub titles narrowed down, along with my plan of action -- so I'm ready to focus on the task at hand.
The challenge of writing that many hubs in the given days doesn't seem hard (remember I'm retired and have more free time). I also type 85 words per minute on a slow day. For me, the real challenge are the self-imposed ones:
Can I write more concisely and be a little less wordy?
Can I do this without sacrificing content quality?
Can I do this and still maintain my obligations in terms of reading and commenting on the hubs of others, and supporting them and the hub community?
Can I stretch my usual topics to include new ones?
Can I surprise myself and my audience?
Let the fun begin. I'm ready. Are you?
So glad that you're up for the challenge Jerilee! I really like your thoughts on the whole thing, too. I think that the fact that you already have your topics planned out will already help you keep up your quality and your pace during the 30 days.
Also, do you have a blog and do you use Twitter? We're using these to help spread the word about the Hub Challenge and would love your help with whatever you can do!
Here are some details:
I can save time because mostly hubpages never ever allows me to post images. I just tried to update an existing popular hub with a photo and yet again it didn't work.
The screen gets a white layer over it and the only thing I can do is close it down and lose what I just did ... that's why I rarely even bother with any photos on my hubs, it simply doesn't work. For me, I can write a hub, but to find a picture I'd be happy with would treble the time it took me.
So it's words only from me!
Here is how you use the photo capsule -- have you tried this?
http://hubpages.com/guide/hubtool/capsules#photo
Ohhh, No. This would kill me. Lets see, write copy all day, a couple feature stories at work, come home and write 3.3 (or whatever was the mean) hubs. They would have to be Haiku. Don't think so!!
I am trying to publish more, but uh-huh. Nice idea, though,.
You don't think you could do 30 in 30 either? That's what a lot of the 'less crazy' Hubbers are doing.
so are we starting at Midnight eastern time?????
9pm pacific time?
6pm hawaiian time?
Diary of a mad hubber Pre Post 2 Video -- Getting ready http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVs6G9ANPbo
Nice!! Looks like you have 8 topics researched and ready to write, so that you're ready to hit the ground running. Now all you have to do is come up with 82 more!
(piece of cake)
Yeah, this thread is a little hard to keep up with today
I guess that you'll need one of these then.
Anyone wanna give me some of their ideas? LOL .....
I'm stuck at about 70 ideas...
Maybe some reviews about exercise equipment and the best nutritional supplements and protein drinks etc.
You could probably do a few hubs on the Hydroxycut fallout and how it's going to effect Iovate Health Sciences Research, and Muscletech.
I was going to get crazy enough to write eight hubs for hubpages and eight for eHow so writing four quality hubs a day should not be a problem. I wrote two hubs today and then read the 100 hubs in 30 day challenge. LOL
The rules are write 100 hubs in 30 day starting May 11, 2009
Use recently added Twitter social media and type #hubchallenge as hash tag at end of article.
Place 100 day banner at end of each article submitted for challenge.
One problem: How do I move the 100 day banner to my article. Copy and paste did not work.
Save the banner as a picture on your own computer and then add it as a picture to your hub.

I haven't been actively writing on Hub Pages in a while and want to get back into this and this might get me motivated.I remember hearing about a 100 hub challenge some years ago and I know that I could not possibly write 100 hubs in a month. That is why I am attempting to do this in a...

After the short break, I'm back here again trying a challenge planning to start from March 1st. I already have some hubs based on 'computer programming' with me as it is my forte. Rest all I plan to write during this challenge on some of my interesting topics. Is there anyone else to join me?

HelloI am very inspired to take the 100 hubs in 30 days challenge. I will do my best, but i really request for guidance regarding rules and regulations. I hope the nice people here will co-operate with meRegardsPeruquois

are we going to see any feedback? I recall something about HubPages reporting stats provided we tagged our hubs, which I duly did.And for those of us who sweated to achieve the magic 30 or even 100 in 30 days, apart from a bit of forum dialogue we've seen nothing... HubPages itself...

I've scrounged HubPages for this challenge as I posted one Sunday, one yesterday, and am working on what today. With only 20 hubs in the years I have been on here, I think it would be a great challenge. Is anyone currently undertaking this? Do you have any other advice?
