I'm in for 30 hubs in 30 days.  So, we start publishing on Monday?  Does it have to be one a day, or can you double up some days and have other days with none?

Whatever you want -Im going to use a new one a) to hide my niche sites and b) to see if I can bring up a new account to the same level as "lissie"

I would say only start a new account if you're targeting a specific niche or you want to be able to track/monitor your results. Otherwise, this account should serve you fine. I'm going to be writing both places (here & a new profile).

Why not - more likely to be 30 than 100, but it should be interesting. smile

I sympathize! We just had a really reliable ISP provider in our state bought out. There is only one way to get DSL through a phone company here, so we had to go with the new company. It is AWFUL. They are constantly being fined for providing poor service. Get this - our DSL now costs more and is slower and also occasionally doesn't even work! lol it's insane.

@ysdata - you must be insane - I have to do my usual work blogs as well so I will barely have time to write them. smile

@jimmy - I will probably have to get a few from there.

But I am crazy enough to do the HubChallenge !

Didn't I look crazy in the video.  Stressed out already, but I really want to complete the challenge and have fun along the way.  I'm thinking posting videos of me (crazy and caught on tape) will create a couple of LOL(s)

Ryan - I'll give it a shot.  I am certain I can write 30 in thirty days and will shoot fot 100.

Can we include HubMob Hubs written during the 30 day period as part of our 100 Hubs?

Just saw this blog post this morning -- some pretty interesting thoughts on the Hub Challenge. Be sure to read some of the comments, too!

    1. bgamall profile image64
bgamallposted 16 years agoin reply to this

Hey Ryan I won't be doing that because I have to have something specific to motivate me and one hub at a time now is what is motivating me. But I enjoyed doing the credit card hub for you. I had to make some corrections on grammar which got it off to a slow start, but it looks better now:))

  12. profile image0
    ysdataposted 16 years ago

I read the entire post from SEOZombie.  I don't think the person uses hubpages.  I also read the comments that pointed out some of hubpages controls in place.  I understand the concern about writing hubs or posting to your own blog.  I usually balance what will go on my blog and what I post to hubpages.  However, this is a challenge -- so I don't mind posting the next 30 days worth of work to hubpages.

  13. Everyday Miracles profile image89
    Everyday Miraclesposted 16 years ago

I also read the SEOZombie post and I understand his concerns but am not sure that they are entirely realistic, to be perfectly honest with you. I commented there but am also going to comment here, by the way. Different comments, go figure!

I haven't been working on my own site, in large part due to a lack of motivation. The niche that I have there is very competitive and doesn't rank well in Google. Not the most encouraging thing in the world, but I also know that if I work at it I can make things happen -- just no motivation right at this particular moment!

The thing is that for those of us who are taking the challenge as "experienced" hubbers (regardless of being new around here like I am), I don't think that there is much risk of us dragging the site down. I've hit a hubber score of 100. I have a hub that has reached a hub score of 100. I'm not making a ton of money, mainly because I don't do keyword research most of the time (will be for the challenge though!), but my hubs are reasonably good, and I have a goal in mind with what I'm doing for the challenge. Quality shouldn't have to suffer for quantity, and if I only manage fifty, fine. I've still benefited and so has Hubpages. Great!

ysdata, are you sure you're going to have the time to vlog every day? LOL

Weird thing is that it's one of *your* hubs that I got my ideas for "how to hub" from. Crazy stuff, Mark!

            Good for you though!

100? as in "one hundred"? like a one with two zeros? Are you nuts?
It has taken me a year to get to 85. I am a slow writer
    I wonder if I could do 30?
My idea file has about 17 topics right now...
I'm not going to commit, but I will step up my pace a bit-- Maybe I should just try to reach a total of 100 before the deadline. Might do that.

"Do as I say, not as I do" - this is a great old saying... I've been saying for months to my blog readers that they should try to do 3/day for a whole year smile

But did I? Did I heck.... I'm up to about 35 hubs in 2 years.

But the facts speak for themselves... every day I spend at least 5-8 hours on one of my sites - and yet I can SEE EVERY DAY from my stats that hubpages earns me more than that whole website and all that effort!!!

So, yes, I want to give "3 a day" a go, which is nearly 100 ... so I might as well go the extra mile and yes, I am joining the hub challenge.

I am new to twitter too, so not entirely sure that I understand the instructions about tweeting yet... but I'll be adding hub challenge to my tags!

There. I'm in. I'll do it.
    Watch this space.

And .... I challenge anybody to read ALL my 100 this time next month smile

I'm mad if I try to do this - my hubs tend to take between 4 and 8 hours each, but do contain 3,000 to 4,000 words, plus links, videos, amazon, news and RSS.

Sod it, I'll aim for 30 in 30, but 100? No way (-:

  21. waynet profile image70

To post 100 hubpages in 30 days is all dependent on focusing on hubpages for the next 28 to 30 days and not doing much else, but I am interested to see if I can pull it off and to see if being focused and motivated actually works when I've said I'll do 100 hubs.

If I find I can write 100 decent hubpages in 30 days then I could most certainly get my arse into gear and write a few books too.

But unfortunately I don't have enough time to write a hub every night?! Considering I only have 2 hours to spare before hitting the z's. But I will gladly help brainstorm some topics to help you all out. Now I'm going to be thinking about his all day!?

  24. cindyvine profile image79
    cindyvineposted 16 years ago

I am hoping that the quality of hubs is not going to be affected.  I think that there needs to be a minimum word count for this as some kind of guiding rule.  Otherwise, people might just do hubs with pictures and captions, and you already hear some people talking about a 250 word hub.  That's not a hub, 250 words makes it a hublet and are hublets going to count in this?

    1. Uninvited Writer profile image76
Uninvited Writerposted 16 years agoin reply to this

I don't consider 250 words a "hublet", you can get a lot of information in that amount. It is the minimum that Google accepts. It doesn't mean it will be low quality.

I'll be making my minimum criteria the content standard for a Capstone Serial hub:

Though I have some on the drawing board that already exceed that.

I think you can still create a quality hub or hubs with no problem.  1 or 4 a day is really not a whole lot.  These challenges are actually good as it does force you to write more hubs, but don't forget about the quality.  Both can happen at the same time.

Spent yesterday mulling over the challenge and have my list of 100 hub titles narrowed down, along with my plan of action -- so I'm ready to focus on the task at hand.

The challenge of writing that many hubs in the given days doesn't seem hard (remember I'm retired and have more free time).  I also type 85 words per minute on a slow day.  For me, the real challenge are the self-imposed ones:

Can I write more concisely and be a little less wordy?
Can I do this without sacrificing content quality?
Can I do this and still maintain my obligations in terms of reading and commenting on the hubs of others, and supporting them and the hub community?
Can I stretch my usual topics to include new ones?
Can I surprise myself and my audience?

Let the fun begin.  I'm ready.  Are you?

So glad that you're up for the challenge Jerilee! I really like your thoughts on the whole thing, too. I think that the fact that you already have your topics planned out will already help you keep up your quality and your pace during the 30 days.

Also, do you have a blog and do you use Twitter? We're using these to help spread the word about the Hub Challenge and would love your help with whatever you can do!

      Here are some details:

  44. earner profile image84

I can save time because mostly hubpages never ever allows me to post images.  I just tried to update an existing popular hub with a photo and yet again it didn't work.

The screen gets a white layer over it and the only thing I can do is close it down and lose what I just did ... that's why I rarely even bother with any photos on my hubs, it simply doesn't work.  For me, I can write a hub, but to find a picture I'd be happy with would treble the time it took me.

So it's words only from me!

Ohhh, No.  This would kill me.  Lets see, write copy all day, a couple feature stories at work, come home and write 3.3 (or whatever was the mean) hubs.  They would have to be Haiku.  Don't think so!!

I am trying to publish more, but uh-huh. Nice idea, though, smile.

You don't think you could do 30 in 30 either? That's what a lot of the 'less crazy' Hubbers are doing. smile

Nice!! Looks like you have 8 topics researched and ready to write, so that you're ready to hit the ground running. Now all you have to do is come up with 82 more! smile

You could probably do a few hubs on the Hydroxycut fallout and how it's going to effect Iovate Health Sciences Research, and Muscletech.

I was going to get crazy enough to write eight hubs for hubpages and eight for eHow so writing four quality hubs a day should not be a problem. I wrote two hubs today and then read the 100 hubs in 30 day challenge. LOL

The rules are write 100 hubs in 30 day starting May 11, 2009

Use recently added Twitter social media and type #hubchallenge as hash tag at end of article.

Place 100 day banner at end of each article submitted for challenge.

One problem:  How do I move the 100 day banner to my article.  Copy and paste did not work.

Save the banner as a picture on your own computer and then add it as a picture to your hub.
