All religions share ideas about how to cope with living, death and what happens after we die in common. They also share stories about how life was created and how humans should treat other humans (in other words they set up a structure of morals for the community that has faith in whichever religion they believe in).

Religions usually claim to possess a spiritual truth that no one else has. Unfortunately, this leads to their believing they are special or "chosen" in some way, and so nonbelievers are inferior. War and genocide in God's name is sometimes the sad result.

God probably has a healthy ego and I doubt that he gets all tingly about people grovelling and chanting about how great he is.

Religions are all human social institutions and if they realize this and forget the dogma and mind control they can actually be beneficial in my opinion. Some modern churches are attempting to do just that.

They all result in wars over beliefs that they preach which are in conflict with many other beliefs that they also preach. Emotional response seems to overpower logic and you are not worthy if you do not follow their beliefs. Try to explain the concept of religion to someone who has never been exposed to it (like someone form outer space). You will find contradiction after contradiction.

They are all control systems offering a system of rewards and punishments for good or bad behaviour. All religions mix in a lot of common sense along with a lot of material that cannot be proved true or false and so commands the faith of the religion's supporters. Religions generally claim to be the word of a god or gods, although Scientology is a new religion and was created by, and all its texts written by, L Ron Hubbard.

Religions are used not just to control but to divide up people into factions and to create division and war in the name of some god. Ultimately, this would be a control system too because the rulers of the world often use "divide and rule" as one of their methods.

John Lennon asked us to imagine a world without religion and I am sure such a world would be a lot better than the madness we live in today.

Religious groups differ greatly in their concepts of deity, other beliefs, and practices but it seems there's one thing we can all agree on.

All of the major world religions and philosophic systems have what is refered to as an "Ethic of Reciprocity". In Christianity and Judaism, it's called "The Golden Rule" and often expressed as "Do onto others as you would wish them do onto you."

Define religion.

All religion offers answers to important spiritual questions. They offer some way to define that which we cannot explain. Along that vein, they offer a view of what happens after death.

If you mean an organized group practicing a religion; That tends to mean that one person, or group of people tells the rest what a "scripture" means and expect the remaining people in the group to follow along and usually pay a tithe. While the demands of "following the flock" differ, the basis is the same. Follow what we tell you to do because we say it is right. Now, they say that there is room to interperate but most of the time interperatation that does not dirrectly follow the views of the rest of the congregation (rather, the heads of the congregation) is "frowned upon" or considered falacy. This then means the "offending party" is "taught what is right" depending on religion this may mean that the person is told to repent, it may mean they are chastized, whatever the "lesson" it usually comes with great feelings of guilt. This causes the person questioning their views to want to just "follow the flock."

If you are talking merely a religious belief structure; This basically means what they have in common is as stated previously about answering questions. Plus it usually means exploring what best fits your personal views and practicing accordingly.

Personal experience and opinion prefers the latter.

All religions share one thing in common. The fact that man has used this religion to control the thoughts and actions of his fellow man.

All religions share one thing in common. They all worship a false external God and continue to perpetuate the lies their ancestors created.

All religions have three things in common:

1. An influential person with beliefs or perspectives

which attract a following

2. A doctrine or method for attaining

a community whose ideals revolve around #1

3, A perfected society or condition to be attained by

practicing item #2

In addition to traditional religions,

Veganism, Atheism, Humanism, Darwinism and Homosexuality likewise share these three conditions.

That depends on whether you are talking about the people practicing the religion, or the religion's doctrine itself.

I believe that all religions share a portion of the truth, and that all ways lead to the center. They all carry a certain set of rules to follow, with consequences to pay if they are not carried out. They also all try to explain life after death, why we exist, and what human's purpose is here on earth. They all inherently are trying to explain their side of the elephant, metaphorically.

If you are talking about commonality among the people involved in these denominations, they all carry the "need to be right". So many wars on this earth are all because people feel they have to be the sole owners to the truth, and every else must change and bend to it. This is because of the human ego. Now, I am not knocking the ego, because it does serve the function of protecting us, however it does interfere a lot more than it should. It can inhibit and actually twist growth in human's spirituality like an overbearing mother would do to a child. A lot of these practicing members also use their religions to control and manipulate people to their will using fear tactics and threats. They will also claim this is to "save you".

Honestly I don't need any saving that I didn't ask for!

Religion is man's way of trying to reach God or earn one's way into Heaven. In that respect, all religions have a common denominator. On the other hand, faith in Jesus Christ Alone and His finished work on the cross is God's way of reaching out to man. Christ paid the penalty for the sins of all men/women when He was crucified, dying in our place. He overcame death for us, so that whosoever believes in Him will overcome death also and spend Eternity with Him in Heaven.

All religions have a god (even man's thought or science is a "god", if all other gods are out of the equation). "Religion" is really a set of actions that assure one's acceptance by that god. If one were to assemble small groups from each and every "religion" on the face of the earth, and each one were to "pray" to their "god", the God who answers would most likely convince all others that He is real and the others are not. Personally, religion and relationship are different. I can choose to follow a dead guy's "religion", or have a relationship with the living God. To those who don't know the living God, it will appear as just another dead "religion" to them, and that's understandable.

What all religions have in common is that they all come from the same source, God. Every so often He has sent His messenger with teachings so that we can become better human beings. Each of His messengers is like a school teacher, the oldest are like the early grades and as they progress, their teachings become more sophisticated. If we look at Abraham, Krishna, Noah, Buddha, Zoroaster, Jesus, Muhammad, the Bab, and Baha'u'llah as the nine we know of, Their spiritual teachings are all the same. As each of them lived, spoke, and wrote; They taught humans how to live, who their source was, and that we have a covenant with God to which we are all cosigners. Their social teachings (marriage, divorce, etc) change according to the needs of the times in which they lived. This is so that we can find our way back to our Creator. If we go directly to the source (read the sacred texts of these religions) we will see their commonalities and that above all else, we have choice. We can choose to believe and obey God's teachings or choose not to.

1) Every religion in the world, even the native and nature religions have in common that ut is teached to treat "your next" as if it would be you. The Korean for example says you should treat another follower of ALLAH as if it would be yourself or the buddhist say you should feel everyone else is like yourself. Most famous for "western people" it is by Christian Religion. Jesus said you should treat your next as if it would be yourself and this is already in the old testament, means that e.g. jews follow this "law" as well. This is because human couldn't live in a sociarty without treating other people as if it would be you.

Not every religion has a God such as the Atheism is a religion in many peoples opinion and Konfuzianisms has for example no God too.

2) But also every religion has believers.
