First of all, I hope that you all had an amazing weekend and it's great to see you all back here on HuPages....this is going to be an awesome week!

Now, for all of you Hubbers out there who have been following my forum thread about HubMobs, this is the first official topic that we will all be HubMobbing for the rest of this week. I was given a great suggestion to add the HubMob topic as a Request, which seemed like a great idea and it it will be an easy way to see who all has written a Hub on the particular topic.

So, this first week's topic is All About Various Popular Hair Styles: Their history and how to create them and here is how you can join our first, official HubMob:

    1. First, think of a good focus area to Hub on  that goes along with the overall HubMob topic of the week. Have some fun with it and write it about something that you are either interested in or know something about. For example, gamergirl could write a Hub titled 'Things to think about when dying your hair a bright color' or I could write about 'Manageable hair styles for really good looking tall men'. It can be about anything, but just make sure that the topic stays focused on various hair styles.

    2. Once you have your focus area decided(I think that I'm going to write about mullets), head on over to the Requests section and click the request that I added called All About Various Popular Hair Styles: Their history and how to create them.

    3. Change out the title to something that you want to write about and be sure that you change the Web Address to match your title once you change it. Also, feel free to keep the tags that I added or delete some of them and add your own.

    4. Write up your soon-to-be-amazingly-awesome Hub about your focus area of the hair styles topic and publish it once you're happy with what you've put together. Feel free to add plenty of images, links to other resources and videos to help better describe your hair style topic of choice. I think that I'm going to try to find a couple of Joe Dirt images/videos to add into mine since he rocked a super-mean mullet.

    http://videodetective.com/photos/489/020550_4.jpg

    5. Once you have published your Hub, add a link back to it inside of this Forum thread and tell us what you wrote about and why you chose that particular topic. Also, as your Hub begins to move up the ranks as far as Google and other search engines go, be sure to keep us updated with how it's performing.

So, that's about it - I hope that you all are as excited as I am to get this first HubMob up and running...this is going to be great to see what we all come up with. Although this might not be the first topic that you would choose to write about(definitely not mine), I think that it will help us all become better Hubbers and it's going to be great to see what focuses we all choose and how we all put our Hubs together about them.

If you have any questions, please let me know and although there's not real timeframe for the HubMobs, it would be great to have several published by Wednesday so that I can feature them in the newsletter.

    Have fun HubMobbing! smile

Are you going to poll good looking tall men for researching your hub?

      LOL!!

You know, being sick as a dog right now I wondered if I'd have an idea pop up - but I think I know now what I'm going to do.

      Thanks Ryan! *high five*

Ryan Hupferposted 15 years agoin reply to this

Oh man, Jimmy - like I said in the the other Forum posts, the wedding theme topic was just an example. But, that is still a very traffic-friendly topic that you should still write about.

Sorry about the confusion, I hope that you still play along with this topic, too.

So, since you have no hair, you could write about the benefits of no hair over a hair style.  Easier to maintain, less money spent on products, famous bald men, whatever!!

    3. Ryan Hupfer profile image60
Ryan Hupferposted 15 years agoin reply to this

Well, even though you have no hair(or short hair) there are always things that you can write about. Also, just because you don't have hair, doesn't mean that you can't write about mohawks, perms or even different hair braids. Part of the HubMob is to get you writing about topics that you might not normally write about - so I say go for it!

I think that Jimmy should write a Hub on 'The history of Mohawks and how you can give yourself one'.  smile

      Anyone else agree?

I mean, I am writing mine on mullets, and I'm definitely not styling one of those right now(unfortunately).

  4. funride profile image67

I´m sorry about that Jimmy, but I´m glad it was not about weddings cause I know nothing about it lol. And you know what, no hair it´s also an hair style!!! tongue

I already started my hair styles research and I hope to have the time needed to finish the hub during this week.

I went ahead and made this a 'sticky'(that's why it's pink and at the top of the forum topics) so that everyone can stay in the loop with what's going on with the HubMob. When we post the new one next week, I'll turn this back into a normal forum thread and make the new HubMob topic a sticky.

      Hey Earth Angel,

Well, it looks like you're in the same position that Jimmy is in. I used the wedding theme just as an example for telling everyone about the HubMob idea, but it seems that a few people such as yourself took it to be the official theme for the week.

      Whoops. smile

Feel free to post a link to your wedding Hub here, too since we all seem to be a little confused - but you should definitely join in on the hair styles topic, too if you get the get the chance.

Mine's done too. Temporarily. I'd like to include illustrated instructions, but as noted in the hub, the style works best with long, straight hair and mine is short and curly, so until I can find a model, visitors are out of luck. However, it's a lovely, vintage updo that's perfect for weddings or proms and can be dressed down for everyday use too.

Thanks for playing along with the first HubMob and honestly, I see nothing wrong with this hairstyle:

Great Hub and I actually had no idea that people washed their dreads....that makes me feel a little better hanging out with hippies...so thanks for that. smile

Ya, I thought that was important to add.  I've seen some really greased out dreadz.  Just wanted Bob Marley to know how to wash them incase he dropped by.

I'm sure that you could come up with a new one if you really tried....wat us to help you with a topic? You ave all week to publish one, so you should have time, right?

I'm reluctant to post another on the same subject that has already gotten the most views I have ever had...  I do have a couple of photos taken when I gave an author's presentation in the last week of school... it just happened to be on "Crazy Hair Day". Generally the schools where I taught discouraged such distractions. I didn't do high school.

      Hey ProCW,

I love your requests - why don't you post them all in here? I'd like everyone to answer the response that I posted for the HubMob so that we can keep them all grouped as much as possible.

Also, I think that you should publish a Hub on this request that you just added:

k... done... it'll be a little more difficult for any hubbers that want to use them, but i'll take them down. to use my ideas, i ask that in addition to the hubmob requirements, any hubbers that wish to use any of these ideas, please link to my profile with credit for the ideas... smile how's that? smile

Hubmob request: How to Wash a Man Right Out of your Hair in the South Pacific.

          * suggested tags... entertainment, advice, movie, hair, songs, musical, broadway, south pacific, wash that man right out of my hair

Hubmob request: Hair, the musical and the hairy topics within.

          * suggested tags... entertainment, arts, hair, musical, broadway, hairy topics

Hubmob request: The Hairstyles of Hairspray, the Broadway Musical and Movie.

          * suggested tags... entertainment, arts, movie, hairstyles, hairspray, hubmob, broadway musical

        Thanks,

Apparently I started writing one and published it before it was ready. Clicked the wrong stupid button. mad

Anyway, I unpublished it already and will work on it more. Could we have a popup installed asking if we really want to do that when we publish a hub? Oh wait, I am on the wrong board for that question.

    1. Ryan Hupfer profile image60
Ryan Hupferposted 15 years agoin reply to this

Did you go back and edit it? You can also unpublish it if you want...

I said I unpublished it. Hmm, thing is that someone checked it out already though.  tongue oh well little or no harm done at least.

Instead of a pop up asklng if you;re sure you want to do that, how about a hand that comes out with a ruler in it that smacks you on the hand when you click publish?

Hey, if we're doing requests, can I make one? (Okay, two.)

    Cornrows!

When I worked as a tutor, one of my kids' mothers was an African hairdresser and she used to come every week with the most beautiful and elaborate braids you can imagine. I'd love to learn a little more about how to braid cornrows.

I would also like to learn microbraiding, since they are very similar to a style traditional in my husband's culture:

Ok, here's mine.  It's not funny... I couldn't think of anything funny besides lice or trying to make a joke about chicks with their head stuffed into a bee hive, so, I ended up doing a real hub on powdered wigs in England instead.  They're called "perukes" if you didn't know. I sure didn't.  LOL.
